We are very pleased to announce the creation of theJason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund.
Gifted by an individual who asked not to be identified,the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund wasestablished to honor the memory of Jason Fordham,who passed away September 24, 2013, following a 4-year battle with cancer.
Jason was a supporter of the arts in Rome and FloydCounty, Georgia, particularly related to theatre and thepreservation of the Historic DeSoto Theatre and was amember of both the Rome Little Theatre Board of Direc-tors and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation Board,serving as president of the Rome Little Theatre Board ofDirectors from 2009-2011.
The designated purposes of the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund are:(a) to honor Jason Fordham’s contributions to theatre;(b) to serve as Jason Fordham’s legacy; and(c) to provide on-going support for Rome Little Theatre and the Historic DeSotoTheatre Foundation.
The income from the investment of monies in the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endow-ment Fund will be equally divided between Rome Little Theatre and the Historic DeSotoTheatre Foundation to be used in whatever manner the individual organizations deemappropriate in support of the arts in Rome and Floyd County, Georgia.
In addition to the $100,000.00 initial donation to establish the Jason G. Fordham Memori-al Endowment Fund, both Rome Little Theatre and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Founda-tion gladly accept donations to the Endowment Fund to honor Jason’s legacy and hismany contributions to theatre as well as provide on-going support for Rome Little Theatreand the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation.
Donations earmarked for the Jason G. Fordham Memorial Endowment Fund may besafely made at romelittletheatre.org or mailed to the Historic DeSoto Theatre, 530 BroadStreet, Rome, GA 30161.

Arrive earlyIt's a good idea to arrive at least 30 min-utes early so you can have plenty of timeto find a parking spot, pick up your tickets,use the rest room and get something at theconcession counter.

Turn your cell phone offEven if you have it on vibrate, people canstill hear the buzzing and it's very distract-ing. Don't talk or text on the phone DUR-ING the performance. If you need to take acall, please wait until a scene change be-fore you leave.
Coming and GoingPlease don't get up and leave during theperformance unless it's an emergency. Ifyou do need to leave or come back in,please wait until there is a scene change.
FidgetingPlease sit still. Bumping your elbows intoyour neighbors or kicking the seat in frontof you is annoying. If you have kids, pleasekeep them in control.
« Sight linesTry to avoid large hairdos and hats. Alsoavoid snuggling up to your date because itmight block someone's view behind you.
PhotosVideotaping and taking photos during theperformance is a distraction to the perform-ers, other patrons and is often illegal.Please don’t take photos during the show.
Other Etiquette Guidelines
« Please refrain from talking, humming, orsinging along with the show, exceptwhen encouraged to do so by the per-formers.
« Please wait for an appropriate time todig something out of your pocket or bag.
« Please do not make noise with candywrappers or popcorn bags.
« Outside food and beverages are notpermitted in the DeSoto Theatre.
« Go easy with the perfume and cologne;many people are allergic.
« The Overture (intro music at the start ofa musical theatre show) is a part of theperformance, so please be quiet when itbegins.
« Don't put or throw anything on thestage.
« Pay attention to the announcementsthat are being made prior to each showabout the rules and regulations and thelocation of the fire exits.
« Do not whistle or scream out to the per-formers, except for a Bravo or Brava inthe finale.
Now for some Dos:
« Do laugh in appropriate places.
« Do applaud with enthusiasm in the ap-propriate places.
« Do tell all your friends, after the show,what a great time you had.
« Do applaud when the performance isover; doing so shows the cast and thecrew how much you appreciated theirhard work and effort.
« Stand and applaud if you really thoughtthe show was great.

S. E. Hinton was ratheryoung when she wroteThe Outsiders. I cannotimagine she knew its im-pact would continue fornow over 50 years. WhenI first read the script I de-cided I did not want thestory to remain in theyears she described in thebook. The more I read themore I realized the con-flicts are dateless. My castand I tried to find currentnames that better describe the 2 op-posing groups in 2015 terms. Wecouldn’t find anything that truly fitsthem as well as what was originallywritten. We have become a much moreviolent society and that limits the per-ception of groups who oppose one an-other without necessarily wanting todestroy one another violently. We havemade some concession to the chang-ing times. I hope you will embracethem. I am so thankful to have a taughtat a time and to live in a communitythat life threatening violence amongteenagers is not an everyday occur-rence nor a form of recreation. As you will see, I have been blessedwith a most talented cast. Not to dis-miss the work of the adults- some ofwhom are new to RLT and have givento this production so much more thanyou see onstage-this group of “teenag-ers” have brought to us unexpectedtalent in so many areas. They havetried everything I have asked. Theyhave made valuable contributions towhat you see. They have given up theirspare (not in rehearsal) time. Theyhave worked as an ensemble. Theyhave amazed, dazzled, and inspiredme. And I love them for it! I am so for-tunate to have had the pleasure ofworking with this entire cast!
Then there is the crew! Mil-ton Chambers and NealBrackett developed this setfrom a conversation and a re-ally incomplete drawing andhad it workable the first weekwe had the stage. This is virtu-ally unheard of! Sarah Smithand her crew have been withus for weeks and are as inte-grated into this show as theactors! Their loyalty and dedi-cation is invaluable and irre-placeable! JoAnna Parker has
been cutting and coloring hair forweeks! Gail Deschamps and KimBrackett have embraced and broughtto fruition my lighting ideas like no onebefore. (This is not a lights up/lightsdown show!) There are people whohave no connection to RLT but whocare for the young men and women inthis show and have, therefor, transport-ed, clothed, fed, and kept well this castof 24 when we were struggling to get arehearsal with an entire cast! I wouldbe remiss not to mention the beautifulwork of Megan Keating Morris. There isno one who is more committed to everyshow RLT does and what a gift to thisshow to have her do photography, writ-ing, publicity and all the other thingsshe and Mary O do daily for RLT! My sincere admiration to everyoneinvolved with the production! You eachhave a special place in my heart! Thank you for finding the time in yourbusy schedule to attend this show.Without you, our audience, we wouldhave no reason to exist! Your generosi-ty and kindness are greatly appreciat-ed. Many sincere thanks.

Chase Brackett - Johnny CadeChase is appearing in his twenty-second role onstage at the DeSoto.You may remember his performanc-es last spring as Eugene in Grease,or Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid,Jr. Last year, he also premiered therole of James Madison in TheFriends of the Constitution’s pro-duction of Founding Fathers. Chasehas appeared in numerable produc-tions for other companies as well.One of his most memorable perfor-mances was the title role of Amahlin the opera Amahl and the NightVisitors with the Rome SymphonyOrchestra and the Seven Hills Op-era Company. He also enjoys thebackstage elements of theater. Hestage-managed Darlington’s pro-duction of The Sound of Music lastspring, and will be stage managingOnce Upon a Mattress for Darling-ton here at the DeSoto immediatelyfollowing this production. Chase is amember of the Spivey Tour Choirdirected by Dr. Martha Shaw, andhas performed at the Royal Collegeof Music and St. Martin’s-in-theField in London. Chase studies vio-lin with Dr. Sinisa Ciric, the RSOconcertmaster. He will be happy toserenade you most Friday nights atBella Roma Grill. He currently stud-ies dance at the Dance Centre. Healso referees soccer matches forCoosa, Darlington and the localYMCA.
Evan Brackett - BobEvan is making another appearanceonstage, despite having a greaterlove for teching backstage. Hewould tell you how many previousproductions he's been involved inbut he can't remember and forgotwhere he put his list. In his sparetime away from the RLT he enjoysstudying construction managementat GNTC and spending time with hiswonderful girlfriend Kristin. Hewould like to thank everyone in-volved in the production, especiallyMiss Virginia and Neal for pouringmore hours into this production thananyone else. He hopes you enjoythis rendition of The Outsiders asmuch as the cast has enjoyed put-ting it together for you.
Isaac Brackett - JakeIsaac has appeared in fourteen oth-er productions onstage at the DeS-oto, including roles in Scrooge: TheMusical, Gypsy, Peter Pan, and Oli-ver Twist. He was a tap dancingJitterbug in The Wizard of Oz,young William Frankenstein in Fran-kenstein, and earlier this fall, por-trayed Joe Harper in TheAdventures of Tom Sawyer. He hasalso performed in a number of SamBaltzer’s R.O.M.E. shows. Isaac isa member of the Spivey Children’sChoir at Clayton State Universityunder the direction of Dr. MarthaShaw. Neal Brackett - ProducerThis is Neal's eleventh time in theproducer's chair. Last season hecollaborated with Virginia Mc-Chesney to bring you The DixieSwim Club. Neal began his careerwith the Rome Little Theatre helpinghis wife Kim bring percussion equip-ment into the theater for the Pros-pect Theater production of Kismet.His wife has appeared in the or-chestra for many musicals andserves frequently with lighting de-sign teams and as a board opera-tor. Neal has appeared onstagenumerous times with the RLT in-cluding To Kill A Mockingbird, Foot-loose and Gypsy. Neal serves theRome Little Theatre as the VP ofPublic Relations. By day, Nealwears a number of other hats as theveterinarian at North Broad AnimalClinic, a father of three, and a socialentrepreneur.
J.G. Brunson - Two-Bit MathewsJ.G. is an 11th grade home-schoolstudent in Rome, Georgia. This isJ.G.'s first major stage production.However, J.G. did appear in a smallspeaking part for the independentfilm The System. J.G. would like tothank his parents, the other mem-bers of his family, and his friends fortheir constant support, encourage-ment, and helpful feedback on hisperformances.
Molly Clay - MarciaMolly is a junior at Rome HighSchool. She has been performingon stage since she was a baby and
falls in love with it all over again ev-ery time she steps into the light.Molly's most recent productionshave been Seven Brides for SevenBrothers as Milly and Epic Propor-tions as Louise at Rome HighSchool. Molly would like to thankher amazing director, Virginia, foreverything she has done and forhelping Molly grow as an actress.She would also like to thank herfamily for all the support, especiallyher sisters who are her biggeststage inspirations. Jacob Faile - Sodapop CurtisJacob is a sixteen year old highschool student that dual enrolls atGeorgia Northwestern TechnicalCollege. He recently starred inBeauty and the Beast, Jr at RLT asthe character Gaston. His familyand friends have been incrediblysupportive throughout almost all ofhis endeavors here at RLT. Jacobhas had a lot of help to get to thispoint in his life. The following listincludes only some of the people,objects, ideas, and actions thatneed to be thanked: Steven, Jennai,the Russian gymnast eating the ba-con sandwich in the Kroger parkinglot, Ipswich, the destruction of theDeath Star, the poor dwarf bunnythat became Jacob's soul animal,aglets, third-person writing, thePhoenicians, Wikipedia, facial modi-fication (plastic surgery), inspiration-al kitten posters, 42 magicalunicorns that conduct science ex-periments, the pirate rock namedCarlos, and the inter-dimensionalenslavement of the vegetarian can-nibal people.
Jesse Faile - Darry CurtisJesse is a sophomore at GeorgiaNorthwestern Technical College. Hehas taken off this fall and spring se-mester to work at Harbin Clinic inthe IT Department. This is his firstproduction at Rome Little Theater,but he has had experience in actingin a dinner theater production andseveral skits. Joseph Fincher - Doctor MorseJoseph is a Rome businessman.The Outsiders is his first experiencein theatre.
Daniel George - RandyDaniel is a junior in high school. Hehas been home-schooled his entirelife and is currently dual enrolling atGNTC. His hobbies include skate-boarding, eating, playing guitar, eat-ing, listening to music, eating,climbing things, and eating.

Mi-chael has been involved in theaterfor about 10 years. He has been inseveral productions at RLT, includ-ing the role of Alan in Play it Again,Sam, Renfield in Dracula, and Tomin The Glass Menagerie. Prior tobeing involved at RLT, Michael wasin several plays at Calhoun LittleTheater, including the role of Tonyin Dial M for Murder and Meyers inWitness for the Prosecution. Adam Isabel - PaulAdam is no stranger to Rome LittleTheatre, even though his history isspread out. His most recent rolesinclude Richard in The Man WhoCame to Dinner (2012) and JoeHarper in The Adventures of TomSawyer (2004). Born and raised inRome, Adam graduated from Ar-muchee High School in 2009 andcurrently works at the Rome Bravesas a clubhouse manager. Adamwould like to thank his parents, whoput up with his craziness, and hisbrother, who has no idea how muchhe means to him. Enjoy the show!
Jenna Kemp - SandyJenna Kemp is sixteen years old.She is home-schooled and in theeleventh grade. This is her first pro-duction with Rome Little Theatre. Inaddition to acting she also enjoyskarate and drawing.
Will Kemp - EricWill is a tall, attractive 16 year oldhome-schooler. This is his secondplay with Rome Little Theatre. In hisspare time, he reads, listens to mu-sic, and avoids purple food. He

Julie Martinez - FallonJulie is an 8th grader at Rome mid-dle school. She is 14 years old. Thisis her first production. She givesthanks to her parents who drove herback and forth to rehearsals andshe gives thanks to all the othercast members in the production formaking her feel welcomed.
Virginia M. McChesney - DirectorVirginia is a native Roman. Havingreceived both her Bachelor’s andMaster’s degrees in Fine Arts inDrama and Theatre from UGA, shereturned home to decide what to doand found a job teaching specialeducation for the Floyd CountySchools which she did for 37 years.Forty two years and two more de-grees later, she has still not leftRome. She has done everythingfrom acting and directing and every-thing else it takes to put a show onthe stage to starting RLT’s chil-dren’s theatre program to knockingout seats and cleaning bathroomsfor RLT. She has been involved insome way in over 120 shows atRLT and other producing compa-nies while in Rome. She was lastseen in A Streetcar Named Desireand was chosen Director of theYear for last season’s The DixieSwim Club.

Zac Mitchell - WillZac has performed in several RomeLittle Theatre shows over the lastfour seasons. Some of his morenotable roles have been as a pettypickpocket in Oliver Twist, a sadisticchef in Little Mermaid, and a bum-bling, nasally sidekick in Beauty andthe Beast, Jr. A boy of eclectic tal-ents, Zac recently learned how toperform the “breakaway “ with a yo-yo, how to solve a Rubik’s cube,and how to choke another actor instage fighting. The latter of theseskills he proudly performs for youon stage today. The eighth-graderalso enjoys singing, acting, andbeating up greasers, which is prob-ably why he was cast for this part.
Mary Ortwein - Mrs. O’BriantMary has enjoyed learning aboutacting since 1997, when she got herfirst role in RLT's Anne of GreenGables. Her favorite recent rolesare: Miss Lynch in Grease (RLT)and Reverend Mother in Nunsense(Calhoun Little Theatre). She hasloved working backstage, onstageand out front for many productions.Mary was a teacher at St. Mary'sSchool for 15 years before she be-came RLT Office Manager in 2006.Mary and her husband Tommy livein Rome, and spend as much timeas possible with their two daughtersand their families.
JoAnna Parker - Costumes, Hair/MakeupJoAnna is a dance instructorat The Dance Centre of Rome and
Baird Ballet. She is the 2014 Judg-es Choice winner of the Sexual As-sault Center's Rome CelebrityDance Challenge. JoAnna has beenseen on stage numerous times andbackstage just as many! Most re-cently JoAnna was head of cos-tumes, hair and makeup for RLT'sproduction of Tom Sawyer. JoAnnawould like to thank Neal Brackett formaking her get involved again andVirginia McChesney for trusting herto bring her vision to life! Cannon Rogers - Ponyboy CurtisAfter a two year break from RLT,Cannon is glad to be back with histheater friends. Some of his favoriteRLT roles include an Oompa Loom-pa in Charlie and the ChocolateFactory, Templeton the rat in Char-lotte's Web, and Oliver in OliverTwist. Recently he has performedas Jojo in Seussical the Musicaland Donkey in Shrek, produced byGrand Illusion at Rome MiddleSchool. As a ninth grader at RHS,Cannon is part of the Rome HighMarching Band, The Men's Ensem-ble Chorus, and RHS Jazz Band.He plays guitar/bass with the Trinity11:11 Praise Band, as well as theTrinity UMC youth band. Rebecca Segrest - The NurseRebecca is a Rope Access Techni-cian with Over the Edge USA andworks helping non-profit companiesfund raise through rappellingevents. She is also a RegisteredNurse at Redmond Regional Medi-cal Center in Rome and a memberof the Chattanooga-Hamilton Coun-ty Rescue Services as a member ofthe Cave-Cliff-Technical Rescueteam. The Outsiders is Rebecca’sfirst play with Rome Little Theatre,and she has truly loved learningabout herself and the theater underMs. McChesney’s direction. She isexcited to add Community Theaterto her list of activities, which alreadyincludes caving, sailing, gardeningand raising chickens.
Earnest Simpson - Dallas WinstonEarnest returns for his sophomorerole as Dallas Winston, the hard-ened and embattled Greaser thathas seen and been through it all.While Earnest's previous role asEddie in The Rocky Horror Showmay have been easily passed off as"type cast" due to his love of loudrock 'n' roll, motorcycles, and leath-er, this role hits very close to homefor this actor, having actually livedthrough the loss, pain, trials andtribulations his stage character hassurvived. The disparity is now hemust play the person who he couldhave - and almost did - become.
Brooks Smith - Jerry WoodBrooks lives in Rome with his wife.He has two grown children and onegranddaughter. This is his secondRLT production. He wants to thankhis wife and family for theirsupport/encouragement and thevery talented cast of The Outsiders,Virginia McChesney, the productionteam, everyone behind the sceneswho ensure production success,and most importantly, the audience,for supporting community theater.
