Message from the DirectorI have been a fan of Sir AndrewLloyd Webber and of "Joseph…"since I used this musical as ateaching tool for a week longworkshop I directed several yearsago in theatre interpreting. TheJekyll Island Musical TheatreFestival in conjunction withValdosta State Universitypresented "Joseph…", and mystudents and I were allowed to

study and then interpret the show for a live audience thatincluded a number of persons who are Deaf. I interpretedthe lead role of Joseph, and have loved the musical eversince. When I finally saw the Donny Osmond video of theUK production, that sealed my love for this show. So Iwas delighted when the RLT Board selected me to directwhat has become one of my favorite musicals. Then last summer, out of the blue, I got a phone callfrom John Glover at First Baptist Church of Atlanta askingif we would like to have the sets from their recentproduction of "Joseph…" that they were about to discard! So we traveled to Atlanta, were blown away by the sets, and eventually they also agreed to loan us their beautifulcostumes, including the title one. Turns out their Directorof Dramatic Arts, Barbara Hall, who has been there forthirty years, is an old friend of mine from the SpringerOpera House in Columbus who I had lost, and she wasso gracious when we renewed our friendship (includinga Springer Children's Theatre Reunion last Fall) andloaned us the costumes. So we started this productionwith a lot of the technical details already begun! I am blessed with an outstanding production team:producer Holly Moore in her first (and amazing!) effort asa producer, my ever faithful right arm Sandy Davis asassistant director, who keeps me organized at every turn, and my assistant producer Carol Murchland, who tookcare of so many other production details in properties andcostumes, especially. Added to this all-star mix, I wasfortunate to secure the always pleasant James Willis asmusical director and conductor, Angela McRee as ourvocal music coach and Emily McKnight in her first effortto choreograph a musical, and all three have been sucha delight. These wonderful people and the other membersof our casting committee, Allison Cox and MelissaBowman, helped us to select the most talented cast I haveever worked with, and their efforts will be evident for youduring this performance. Along the way, Tina Brinson,Megan Keating and Naomi Williams have helped us somuch with the details and publicity, Mark Taylor, ArianaAllee, Holly and Phil Moore, and Chuck Morris withtechnical details, and I have turned the show over into thecapable hands of one of RLT's most dependable andcompetent volunteers, our Stage Manager SuzanneClonts. All of these people and others have made"Joseph…" a joy to work on these past few months.

This is a story from Genesis in the Bibleand God's plan for helping each of usachieve his dreams, and Webber and Ricehave presented the story in such anentertaining way that I hope none of you willever forget it. Although we have had severalissues come up (I'm fond of saying that Ineed to get out of theatre-too much drama!),and I was forced to direct this showdifferently than I usually do, we haveovercome each challenge and prevailed witha wonderful entertainment that we hopeglorifies the God we all serve. I want to offer a special dedication of thisshow to our musical director, James Willis. Ihave worked with James on so many shows, and he is the consummate professional with

the patience of another major Biblecharacter, Job. He is always helpful andfriendly and works far beyond what he isrewarded with financially for us to have thebest show we can. James is a treasure toRLT and to me and I appreciate with all myheart his difficult and consistent work on thisshow despite so many odds at the beginning.James, you are a friend I value, and if"Joseph…" is the show I think it will be, it isa credit to you and not to the director formaking it so excellent. I love you, man! Thanks for supporting live theatre in Romeat RLT, and tell all your friends about the funof "Joseph…"!

Message from the ProducerWOW... who knewwhen I went toWendell and askedcould I learn from himduring Joseph that Iwould find myself inmy very firstexperience as aproducer of a show. What an amazingjourney this has been.

I have been blessed to be a part ofsomething truly extraordinary with this showbeginning with our extremely talented cast.Night after night of music rehearsals, I waswowed, charmed and completely blownaway by how beautiful their voices blendedtogether. Hitting the stage just four shortweeks ago feeling completely overwhelmed

and very unsure of how all the "grunt" workwas to happen, I again was amazed at howmany jumped up to help, volunteer their timeand skills to bring it all together. I am stillunsure of how it all happened... but I am surethat divine intervention dropped in from timeto time especially during an interesting driveback from First Baptist Atlanta with setpieces out running a storm with Daniel, Caroland Arianna! What wonderful memorieshave been made while producing this show. From the bottom of my heart, thank you toall who helped in any way to make this showcome together so beautifully. You all knowwho you are and you also know that I loveeach and every one of you.Now... Let's all GO GO GO JOSEPH!

This past year, the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation was created to help securefunding to restore the DeSoto Theatre to its former splendor. With assistance from the FoxTheatre Institute, the tireless work of many volunteers and generous donations from ourmembers and friends, the rehabilitation process has begun with the repair of the ornateplasterwork in the vestibule and the complete remodeling of the upstairs meeting rooms.Although much has been done, many more restoration projects are needed.
