Institut za ispitivanje materijala ima iza sebe još jednu uspešnu godinu, u kojoj

je realizovan veliki broj poslova u oblastima kojima se Institut bavi. Ovde

prikazane odabrane stručne reference su, verujemo, impresivne. Institut IMS je

i ove godine učestvovao u najznačajnijim projektima u zemlji i regionu. U

skladu sa višedecenijskom tradicijom i ugledom, kao i širokim spektrom usluga

koje pružamo, bili smo angažovani na kontroli i nadzoru, projektovanju,

ispitivanjima i istraživanjima građevinskih i mašinskih objekata i konstrukcija,

materijala i proizvoda, kao i primeni sopstvenih tehnologija i sistema.

Kao najznačajnije izdvajamo aktivnosti na koridorima X i XI i značajno učešće

u sanaciji brojnih klizišta. Nastavili smo rad na zaštiti graditeljskog nasleđa,

obnovi i izgradnji putnih objekata duž autoputeva i magistralnih i regionalnih

puteva u Srbiji, na revitalizaciji HE Đerdap 1 u Kostolcu i na drugim hidro i

termo-elektranama, kao i u oblasti ispitivanja metalnih materijala razaranjem.

Što se naučno istraživačkog rada tiče, postignuti su rezultati na koje je Institut

IMS već navikao. Značajno je učešće naših saradnika na realizaciji sedam

projekata tehnološkog razvoja, jedog projekta integralnih i interdisciplinarnih

istraživanja i četiri projekta iz programa osnovnih istraživanja.

Tokom 2016. godine, nastavljen je rad baziran na usvojenom Programu

naučnoistraživačkog rada i Programu razvoja naučnoistraživačkog podmlatka

za period 2015-2019. godine, kojima je definisano strateško opredeljenje

rukovodstva Instituta ka daljem razvoju naučno-istraživačke i inovacione

delatnosti, kao i primeni rezultata istraživanja uz poštovanje principa

multidisciplinarnosti koja odlikuje Institut IMS, kao i usmerena kadrovska

politika. Ovu godinu posebno korakterišu napori istraživača da se proširi

međunarodna saradnja kroz učešće na projektima Horizon 2020, COST i IPA.

Naučni kadar je značajno poboljšan, pre svega kroz opredeljenje mladih

istraživača za dalje naučno usavršavanje koje se reflektovalo na povećan broj

istraživača sa istraživačkim zvanjima. Rezultati istraživačkog rada su u skladu

sa dosadašnjim trendom rasta broja publikacija u međunarodnim časopisima i

učešća istraživača na vodećim međunarodnim skupovima.

NOVEL APPLICATION OF FRACTAL ANALYSIS IN REFRACTORY

COMPOSITE MICROSTURCTURAL CHARACTERIZATION

Fractal geometry theory implied in a composite surface topographic analysis as

a means of explanation of the structural characteristics has hardly been reported

so far. This paper proposes a new method of roughness peaks curvature radii

calculation and its application to the refractory composite surface tribological

analysis. Fractal geometry method is introduced via calculation of asperity

radius, by introducing a fractal concept of curvature radii of surfaces, depending

on the observation scale and also numerically depending on horizontal lines

intercepted by the investigated profile. The dependence of the calculated radii

on the fractal geometry of the studied curves was established and the notion of

peak was mathematically formulated. The efficiency of the method was tested

by simulations of fractal curves described by Brownian motions.

Microstructural investigations were carried out using a scanning electron

microscope. The correlation between microstructure and properties of the

investigated refractory composite, based on fractal geometry and contact surface

probability, has been developed. Using the fractals of the contact surfaces of

grains, a reconstruction of microstructure configuration, as grain shapes or

inter-granular contacts, has been successfully performed. Obtained results

indicated that fractal analysis of contact surfaces of different shapes was very

important for the prognosis of refractory composite properties and behavior.

The morphology of composite grains and surfaces highlighted the validity of

developing new structure analytical methods based on different grain shape

geometries. The novel approach to the investigation of refractory composite

characteristics was successfully conducted, as a result introducing fractal

identification as a means of evaluating and predicting material performances.

THE EFFECTS OF THE PHOSPHATES’ MECHANICAL

ACTIVATION

The investigation was conducted with an aim to increase the reactivity of the

comminuted phosphate ore and to establish the optimal mechanical activation

period of the grain mixture. In order to obtain complete insight into the process

and phenomena of the phosphate grain mixture activation, a good understanding

of the theoretical principles of the activation operation is necessary. In the

experiments, the vibratory and planetary mills were used as activators. The

obtained results pointed out that both amorphous and crystallized forms

appeared within the Lisina ore deposit mixture due to the specific genetic

conditions which rarely occur in the deposits. Such a heterogenic composition

of the useful phosphoric part of the ore gave a variety of the results during the

leaching. For the first time, the experiments of phosphate (apatite) mechano-

chemical activation from Lisina ore deposit were performed in order to improve

its reactivity.

CHEMOMETRIC ASSESSMENT OF MECHANO-CHEMICALLY

ACTIVATED ZEOLITES FOR APPLICATION IN THE

CONSTRUCTION COMPOSITES

Natural zeolites of clinoptilolite type from seven deposits were submitted to

mechano-chemical activation in a Retsch ultra-centrifugal mill. The zeolite

types and activation parameters were altered during the experiment with an aim

to determine the optimal combination that would produce powder with adequate

physico-chemical and microstructural properties for application as a binder

replacement and an ion-exchanger in the construction composites. The effects

of input variables (chemical composition of the samples) and process

parameters (the rotor velocity and the activation period) on the efficiency of

zeolite activation were investigated in terms of dependent parameters such as:

specific surface area, grain size distribution, cation exchange capacity, melting

point, compression strength, shrinking, water absorption and apparent porosity.

Cluster analysis, Principal component analysis and Standard score analysis were

applied in the assessment of the acquired product quality. Artificial neural

networks (ANN) were developed in mathematical modeling of observed

responses. Subsequently the ANN was compared to experimental results and the

developed second order polynomial models. Developed models showed r2

values in the 0.822-0.998 range, meaning that they were able to predict the

observed responses in a wide range of processing parameters. ANN models

performed high prediction accuracy (0.975–0.993) and can be considered as

precise and very useful for response variables prediction. The combination of

the conducted mathematical analyses isolated Z5 zeolite as a preferable type,

and 20000 rpm and 30 min as an optimal activation set of parameters.

Mathematically derived conclusions were confirmed by results of instrumental

analyses (XRD, DTA/TG, SEM).

EFFECTS OF MECHANICAL AND THERMAL ACTIVATION ON

POZZOLANIC ACTIVITY OF KAOLIN CONTAINING MICA

Kaolin from a Serbian deposit, characterized by high content of impurities, such

as mica and quartz, disordered kaolinite and high specific surface area, was

subjected to thermal and mechanical activation on a large scale. Activations

were carried out with a goal to investigate the effects of applied methods on the

chemical, structural and morphological changes that occurred in the kaolin, and

their influence on the pozzolanic activity. The changes were monitored using

XRD, FTIR, TG/DTA, PSD, BET and SEM analyses. Pozzolanic activity was

evaluated by determination of the 7-day compressive strength conducted on the

lime mortars.

The results showed that mechanical activation by milling the kaolin for 20 h in

the conventional horizontal ball mill was competitive for obtaining pozzolana as

thermal activation. Pozzolanic activity of thermally activated kaolin was mainly

influenced by formation of metakaolin. Combined effects (such as significant

specific surface area increase, as well as partial kaolinite and complete mica

phase amorphization) were dominant in pozzolanic activity of mechanically

activated kaolin.

goals in construction sector. The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the

influence of nano-silica replacement of cement (2% or 5%) and aggregate type

(quartz, barite or its combination 50:50 by volume) on the properties of ultra

high performance concrete (UHPC). UHPC with nano-silica and combination of

barite and quartz aggregate is composite which has finer pore-size distribution,

improvement in compressive and flexural strength and in radiation protection

characteristics, with potential usage as building material for hospitals and

nuclear facilities.

DURABILITY OF CONCRETE WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF

CEMENT

Romanian Journal of Materials, Vol. 46, No. 2, 2016, 215-221.

Adequate measures must be taken during the determination of the concrete

composition for ensuring the durability of concrete exposed to an aggressive

environment. The influence of the cement type on the freeze/thaw resistance

with and without de-icing salt of concrete was tested. Samples were made using

five types of cement. All types of concrete made according to the

recommendations of the Serbian and European norms had the required frost

resistance. Besides the respected recommendations, concrete made using

cement with 35% mineral additions of fly ash and lime was not freeze/thaw

resistant with de-icing salt.

Weathering resistance for paving units is determined according to EN 1338 and

EN 1339 for freeze/thaw resistance with de-icing salt or water absorption.

Taking into account previous investigations, only samples which were made in

accordance with the recommendations of the Serbian Building code

requirements for concrete and reinforced concrete - BAB 87 and European

norms EN 206-1 were tested. Regarding water absorption, it is expected that in

the case of established production all types of concrete would be integrated into

class 2 according to EN.

Also, for two representative types of concrete with different air content and

degree of damage done by destructive test, non-destructive test by device

RapidAir 457 was done.

ROMAN MORTARS FROM THE AMPHITHEATRE OF VIMINACIUM

Although the first archaeological excavations of Viminacium, the capital of the

Roman province Moesia Superior, today's Serbia, began in 1882, only a small

amount of laboratory research on applied building materials has been conducted

so far. The grandeur and uniqueness of the building of the Roman amphitheatre

now being excavated, and the need for its conservation, required the start of the

research on the lime mortars used in this building. Some of the results of this

particular research are presented in this paper.

CONCRETE SHRINKAGE MECHANISM AND EXAMPLES OF

CONCRETES WITH DIFFERENT RECYCLED AGGREGATES

Concrete shrinkage is reduction of its volume which is caused by hydration of

cement and loss of moisture, independently of the external load. Aggregate can

be considered inert in terms of volume changes, so concrete shrinkage is related

only to cement paste shrinkage. Extent of shrinkage depends on the quantity and

type of cement, water-cement factor, granulometric composition, type of the

aggregate, strength of concrete, thermo-hygrometric conditions of the

environment, wind velocity, etc. The paper presents two examples: the results

of shrinkage of self-compacting concrete with recycled aggregate of crushed

concrete and the results of shrinkage of vibrated concrete with recycled brick

CONCRETE DURABILITY WITH BOTTOM ASH AS PARTIAL

REPLACEMENT OF FINE AGGREGATE

In order to evaluate the quality of the bottom ash and to determine the

possibility of its application in composite materials, a detailed testing of the

chemical, physical and mechanical properties of the samples from the silo

TENT B was initially conducted. Then, in order to investigate the application of

bottom ash in concrete, samples with a part of the fine fraction of aggregates 0/4

replaced with 4%, 8%, 12% and 16% bottom ash were made and the properties

of fresh and hardened concrete were tested. The obtained results met the criteria

of the valid regulations for concrete from the viewpoint of durability, which

INFLUENCE OF FREEZING AND THAWING ON THE STRUCTURE

OF CONCRETE

During the exploitation, concretes exposed to frost and/or frost and de-icing

salts must be resistant. Samples were made and tested and they met all the

requirements and recommendations for concrete resistance. Special emphasis

was put on the durability of concrete, therefore the samples were tested on M-

250 and at 1200 cycles of freezing and thawing, that is, to be found out if during

a longer time period there were changes in the concrete structure. Tests were

carried out using the standard destructive, as well as non-destructive method.

After more than a year there was no change in the structure of concrete.

The subject of this research are concretes with and without partial replacement

of the required amount of cement with the particles of nano-silica, as well as the

interdependence of the results of their tests by using destructive and non-

destructive methods. The ultrasonic pulse velocity and the rebound number was

determined on the samples of concrete with 0%, 1%, 2% and 3% addition of

nano-silica, and then compressive strength was tested. The interdependence of

the measured values obtained in these trials was established.

THE EFFECT OF FIBER AND AGGREGATE TYPE ON

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF UHPC

The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the influence of different

aggregates and content of fiber on the mechanical properties of ultra high

performance concrete (UHPC). Two types of aggregate were used: quartz and

barite. As a heavy-weight aggregate barite increased concrete density.

Increasing the amount of fiber from 3% to 5% had positive effect on concrete

strength. The greatest impact, almost 50% was noticed on flexural strength of

UHPC with quartz aggregate.

THE INFLUENCE OF NANO-SILICA ON COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH

In an effort to preserve the environment, but also with the aim to produce

concrete with improved characteristics, continual innovations are being done in

terms of materials used in the construction industry. Cement production

increases environmental pollution, so there is a tendency of applying other

materials in order to reduce the cement content in concrete mixtures. One of

these additives is ultra-fine powder, which is obtained as a by-product in the

production of silicon, nanosilica. The aim of the research is to determine the

impact of nanosilica as a partial replacement for cement on the compressive

strength of concrete. The results of comparative tests of concrete with and

without the addition of 1,2,3% nanosilica in fresh and hardened state are shown.

To determine the impact of nanosilica on the increase in compressive strength,

testing of samples at the age of 1, 2, 3, 7 and 28 days was performed.

A large number of studies throughout the world deals with producing material

which has a significantly improved properties compared to conventional

materials. The application of nanosilica is one of the possibilities for obtaining

high strength concrete. This paper shows the influence of nanosilica and steel

fibers on the mechanical properties of concrete. The results of testing concrete

without and with the addition of 2% of nanosilica and with the addition of 0, 2

and 4% of steel fibers, with non-destructive and destructive methods, were

compared.

The aim of this investigation is to develop ultra high performance concrete

(UHPC) for multipurpose - higher mechanical and ionizing radiation protection.

The effect of nano-silica replacement (2 or 5%) on the properties of UHPC was

compared with the referent concrete by testing compressive and flexural

strength. As nano-silica influences cement hydration and modifies the pore

structure, qualitative and quantitative analysis of pores was done using a device

RapidAir 457. The second objective of this paper is to evaluate the influence of

different aggregates on concrete properties. Two types of aggregate were used:

quartz and barite. One of the most important characteristics of the concrete for

protection against gamma and X radiation is its Total Attenuation Coefficient

(µ/ρ)tot.

It has been observed from the literature that the recycled aggregate concrete

(RAC) shows better freeze-thaw resistance than the conventional concrete

because recycled aggregate is more porous. Laboratory tests have shown that air

entrained concrete made up of crushed bricks as aggregate has very good frost

resistance. In this paper compressive and flexural strength after 16 years under

real continental conditions were tested. Concrete exposed to freezing changes

its characteristics both in terms of strength and in terms of the structure. The

aim of this study is to determine how to modify the structure of the concrete

SETTING UP THE DRYING REGIMES BASED ON THE THEORY OF

Drying is energy intensive process which has important effect on the quality of

the clay tiles that are dried commercially. Chamber and tunnel dryers are

constantly improving. Better technical equipment and operational strategies

have lead to higher quality of the dried clay products. The moisture migration

during isothermal drying process can be visually traced on the curve that

represents the relationship between variable effective moisture diffusivity (MR)

with time (t). Proposed non isothermal drying regimes were consisted from

several isothermal segments. For the first time, the choice of isothermal

segments specification and its duration was not specified by experience or by

trial-and-error method. It was detected from the isothermal curves Deff – MR in

accordance with the theory of moisture migration during drying. Proposed

drying regimes were tested. Clay roofing tiles were dried without cracks. Dried

clay roofing tiles has satisfied all requirements defined in EN 1304 norm related

to the shape regularity and mechanical properties

INFLUENCE OF ALTERNATIONS IN ULTRA-CENTRIFUGAL

MILLING PARAMETERS ON THE COAL ASH QUALITY FOR THE

CONSTRUCTION COMPOSITES DESIGN

The coal ash mechano-chemical treatment conducted by means of the high

energy mill was optimized using mathematical and statistical tools. The merits

of the alternations in ash processing schemes with a referral regarding the

improvement of its reactivity were highlighted. This will eventually lead to

higher volume utilization of the fly ash as a cement replacement in concrete

design. In order to obtain the most favorable output, the impact of the sets of

processing parameters (number of rotor revolutions, current intensity, activation

period, circumferential rotor speed, mill capacity) on the on the product’s

quality factors (grain size distribution, average grain size, micronization level,

agglomeration tendency, specific surface area) was assessed via Response

surface method, Standard score analysis and Principal component analysis.

Quality parameters in an extensive range of processing parameters were

accurately predicted with developed models. The calculated r2 values were in

the range of 0.84-0.99. The optimal ash sample, characterized by 0.93 Standard

Score, was produced using a set of processing parameters appropriate to

experimental sequence with applied 120 μm sieve mesh. The microstructural

characteristics were assessed using image-processing values and histogram

plots of the activated fly ash SEM images. Multiple comparison tests revealed

that the optimal variations in the activation parameters could improve the

technology of cement replacement material production and its transfer into an

economically attractive sustainable solution which is a new step in the design of

high-volume fly ash based composites.

PROPERTIES OF THE STEATITE POWDERS APPLIED AS FILLERS

IN THE CERAMIC COATINGS

Steatite is a magnesium silicate multi-componential composite that can be

synthesized from natural raw materials, and eventually produced via standard

ceramic processing methods and readily machined or sintered into a variety of

forms. Due to its excellent electrical properties, high mechanical resistance, low

dielectric loss and high temperature resistance, steatite is widely utilized as a

material for thermal insulation and heath protection. The raw materials used in

steatite powder synthesis are: talc mixture for calcination, clay minerals as

bonding agent, and feldspar or BaCO3 as melting agents. The synthesis is

usually conducted at approximately 1400°C, and its product is a crystalline

phase of magnesium metasilicate (MgSiO3) obtained from talc, while melting

agent forms a vitreous phase which melts and surrounds the crystalline phase.

Steatite ceramics’ fillers were fabricated via combined method of high-energy

ball milling, cold pressing and sintering. The powder blends containing same

amounts of components in all 4 mixtures were dry-pulverized for 30 min a

laboratory mill, with ceramic vial and ceramic balls. After milling, the powders

were compacted to cylindrical tablets with a diameter of 25 mm by uniaxial

compression at 4 tons/cm2. The green compacts were sintered at 1000-

microstructural and thermal properties of the sintered tablets were carried out by

using X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), thermogravimetry/differential thermal

analyzer (TG/DTA) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The effects of

grinding on the change of the particle diameter, crystallinity and the phase

transformations, and reactivity of the powders were studied. The powders that

were pulverized for 30 min showed properties which positively influenced on

the decrease of sintering temperature and the increase of the sintering rate of

steatite fillers.

EFFECTS OF SA SURFACE TREATMENT ON THE PROPERTIES OF

CACO3 USED AS FILLER IN CONSTRUCTION COMPOSITES

Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is mineral filler that has been most extensively

used in the construction composites as well as in the polymer industry. Coarse

CaCO3 grains can be easily incorporated into the composite material, but the

smaller-sized particles tend to agglomerate due to the enhanced particle-to-

particle interactions, which leads to serious performance problems. The most

efficient way of surpassing this problem is to enhance the final composite

properties by surface treatment of the filler with a surfactant. Following such

procedure a water-repellent construction composites are obtained (i.e. reparation

mortars, mortars for the exterior works, thin coatings for concrete walls, etc.).

The stearic acid is a universal and economical surfactant which is often used to

improve CaCO3 hydrophobic properties. This study investigates and

subsequently compares the surface and mechanical properties of untreated

ground calcium carbonate powder and treated powder with stearic acid using a

dry process coating system. The CaCO3 powder (grain size class: -200 + 63

µm) was pulverized in a laboratory Retsch-ZM-1 mill with a 250 µm mesh size

sieve and a peripheral comminuting path. The surface of CaCO3 powder is

generally hydrophilic, but it was changed to a hydrophobic surface when coated

with SA. The coating procedure was conducted in following manner: 1% of SA

was added to the CaCO3 powder which was previously thermally treated at

rpm. The surface treatment decreases the intensity of particle-to-particle

interaction and increase adhesion of filler. There has been extensive research

reporting about the effects of stearic acid surface treatment on the physical

properties and thermal behavior as well as mechanical properties of CaCO3

composites. The contact angle of water on the coated calcium carbonate powder

surface and hydrophobicity are increased with increasing concentration of SA.

As a result, thermal stability and mechanical properties of the composite were

increased compared to untreated CaCO3 composites. The influence of surface

treatment of the particles, with and without stearic acid on the mechanical,

thermal and structural properties was studied. The experiments included

mechanical and physical testing; differential thermal analysis, scanning electron

U radu je dat kratki pregled zahteva kvaliteta za sastojke i sastav mineralnih

mešavina vezanih cementom (SRPS EN 14227-1) i hidrauličnim vezivom za

puteve (SRPS EN 14227-5), koje se koriste prilikom izgradnje i održavanja

puteva, aerodroma i drugih saobraćajnih površina, kao i pregled njihove

klasifikacije na osnovu laboratorijskih mehaničkih performansi. Takođe, radom

je obuhvaćena specifikacija za tla koja su stabilizovana cementom i

hidrauličnim vezivom za puteve (SRPS EN 14227-15), sa akcentom na zahteve

kvaliteta sveže mešavine i klasifikaciju mešavina na osnovu laboratorijskih

Obredno jevrejsko kupatilo Mikve u Pirotu prema trenutnim procenama datira

iz 19. veka, mada postoji mogućnost da je i starije. Nalazi se u centru grada, u

nekadašnjoj jevrejskoj mahali, današnjoj Jevrejskoj ulici. Na ovom objektu,

godinama zaboravljenom i zapuštenom, već izvesno vreme obavljaju se

konzervatorsko-restauratorski radovi. U sklopu istraživanja koja sprovodi

Zavod za zaštitu spomenika kulture iz Niša, izvršeno je ispitivanje uzoraka

maltera sa spoljašnjeg i unutrašnjeg zida mikve. Cilj sprovedenih ispitivanja,

koja su uključila optičku mikroskopiju i ispitivanje hemijskog sastava, bilo je

PRIKAZ TEHNIČKE REGULATIVE ZA PROIZVODE OD GLINE

Savremeni materijali i konstrukcije sa regulativom, Beograd, 2016, 95-104.

U radu je dat prikaz tehničke regulative za proizvode od gline koji se stavljaju u

promet na domaćem tržištu i na tržištu EU. U Srbiji su važeća tri pravilnika o

tehničkim i drugim zahtevima: za crepove od gline, betonski crep i sinterovane

keramičke krovne ploče; za opekarske proizvode od gline i krečnosilikatne

opeke i blokove; za fasadne pune i šuplje opeke i blokove od gline i fasadne

krečnosilikatne pune i šuplje opeke i blokove. Pravilnici se pozivaju na seriju

SRPS (JUS) standarda koji propisuju tehničke zahteve za proizvode kao i

metode njihovog ispitivanja. U poslednjih par godina u našoj zemlji su usvojeni

gotovo svi harmonizovani evropski standardi za proizvode od gline, uz

istovremeno povlačenje gore pomenutih SRPS (JUS) standarda. Proizvodi od

gline koji se plasiraju na tržište EU, moraju biti usaglašeni i deklarisani

saglasno Uredbi br. 305/2011. Evropske harmonizovane tehničke specifikacije

EN 771-1 i EN 1304 utvrđuju karakteristike i zahteve za performansama koje

elemenati za zidanje i crepovi od gline treba da poseduju. Navedeni standardi se

pozivaju na set EN standarda koji definišu metode njihovog ispitivanja.

Evropska harmonizovana specifikacija EN 15037-3 pored toga što utvrđuje

karakteristike i zahteve za performansama koje blokovi od gline za međuspratne

konstrukcije treba da ispune definiše i metode njihovog ispitivanja.

Šesti internacionalni naučno-stručni skup Građevinarstvo – nauka i praksa,

Uredbom br. 305/2011 reguliše se oblast usaglašenosti plasmana građevinskih

konstrukcionih materijala na teritoriji zemalja članica EU. U proteklom periodu,

doneti su harmonizovani evropski standardi za većinu građevinskih proizvoda,

obezbeđen je visok stepen ujednačenosti kvaliteta proizvoda i predviđeni su

različiti nivoi odnosno klase perfomansi građevinskih proizvoda.

Harmonizovani evropski standard EN 771-1 utvrđuje karakteristike i zahteve za

performanse elemenata za zidanje proizvedenih od gline, čija je glavna

predviđena upotreba u zidovima sa ili bez izolacije. U radu su u kratkim crtama

iznete najnovije promene u važećoj regulativi EU koja pokriva oblast ispitivanja

i zahteva koje elementi za zidanje od gline treba da ispune tokom njihove

ekspoloatacije.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO THE ASSESSMENT OF

The paper presents a multidisciplinary approach to the assessment of seismic

performances based on the Performance-Based Earthquake Engineering

(PBEE), taking into account the multi-criteria optimization theory in analyzing

the priority methods for bridge rehabilitation/strengthening. One bridge model

was subjected to Nonlinear Static Pushover Analyses (NSPA), target

displacement analyses using the capacity spectrum method (CSM), vulnerability

analyses, and reliability analyses, while for a damaged bridge, in addition to be

considered using the above methods, was also analyzed using the VIKOR

method of multi-criteria optimization. Seismic performances were determined

based on monitoring the system's plastification and analyzing the relevant

parameters for the level of target displacement, such as target displacement,

total shear force, spectral displacement, spectral acceleration, vibration period,

damping and ductility. The phases of damage were considered using the

probabilistic analysis of vulnerability and reliability: slight, moderate, extensive

and complete, as a function of system ductility.

PROBABILISTIC ANALYSIS OF BEARING CAPACITY OF PILES

WITH VARIABLE PARAMETERS IN CPT TEST AND CALCULATION

ACCORDING TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF EUROCODE 7 (EN 1997-

1: 2004) REGULATIONS

The paper presents a probabilistic concept for determining the pile bearing

capacity, taking into account the variability of CPT test parameters and

methodology of calculation according to the requirements of Eurocode 7 (EN

1997-1:2004) regulations. Based on a single initial (real) CPT test, a higher

number of generated (simulation) CPT tests were introduced drawing on the

solutions of statistics and probability theory. The research found that the best

solutions are achieved using the DA 2 design approach for n(CPT)≥10 tests.

Taking into account the deterministic and probabilistic approach in the analysis

pile bearing capacity, it was found that for the DA 2 design approach the ratio

of pile bearing capacity obtained from the simulation and the capacity as

determined through three methods (Mazurkiewicz, Van der Veen and

hyperbolic approximation) is Rc,d/Pu=1.148. Using the reliability index, the

following values of partial resistance factors were obtained: γb,β≈1.1, γs,β≈1.1,

which also points to the DA 2 design approach.

OF PILE CAPACITY AND INTEGRITY TESTS

Based on the analysis of a large number of scientific papers, the authors of this

paper present their own classification pile tests. The general classification is

conducted using high strain and low strain tests, i.e. tests whose basic purpose is

to determine the capacity of piles and tests the purpose of which is to analyze

the integrity of piles. The pile capacity and integrity tests are critically analyzed

by defining their advantages and disadvantages using in-situ investigations, cost

effectiveness, requirements regarding the special education of engineers, the

quality of data obtained, complexity of data processing and the quality of the

processed end results. The proposed classification of pile capacity and pile

integrity tests enables to identify very effectively which is the optimal test type

for further geotechnical analysis of structures and which type of test should be

used in the phase of geotechnical testing for designing and scientific research.

APPLICATION OF COLD-IN-PLACE RECYCLING IN ROAD

REHABILITATION FROM VARIOUS ASPECTS

Cold in place recycling is one of the up to date maintenance techniques that is

applied routinely during road rehabilitations. This technique involves using the

existing pavement layers up to 100 % together with a construction of new layers

with “virgin” materials. This paper puts an emphasis on the key stages and

processes needed for a successful application of this method. Furthermore,

using specialized LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) software an environmental

assessment was made for both alternate design solutions i.e. application of cold

in place recycling compared to more common solution: milling the old asphalt

layers and laying down new asphalt pavement.

PILE-SOIL-PILE INTERACTION IN DESIGNING THE FOUNDATION

The paper analyzes the effects of pile-soil-pile interaction on the transverse

bridge frame on specific example of building. It considers a small group of piles

arranged in a single row. The columns are continuously set on piles over the RC

blocks (raft beams). The typical pilesoil conditions were varied. Some phases of

construction, typical of this type of calculation, have been included. The

interaction was analyzed for homogeneous and linear elastic soil (semi-space),

with some other models of analyzing pile-soil interaction were also indicated.

EVALUATION OF SMARTPHONE APPLICATION “ROADROID”

FOR MONITORING OF ROAD ROUGHNESS

This paper presents the evaluation of the Roadroid smartphone application,

which has found, in the recent years, several applications, mainly on the local

road networks in developing countries. An experiment was conducted that

involved consecutive surveys using (i) bump integrator and (ii) Samsung

Galaxy-II smartphone with the Roadroid application. The results tend to

indicate the level and the domain of applicability of such an android-based

smartphone application for low-cost and rapid road roughness evaluation on a

specific part of the road network. Such applications can be of great use in

country such is Serbia, where there is very limited historical data on the

network condition.

Dispersive clay soils can not be clearly determined visually or identification

tests in the field, as well as the usual standard methods used for the

identification of soil in laboratory geomechanical practice such as granulometric

analysis and plasticity tests, but for using a special tests: the crumb test, the

double hydrometer test and the pinhole test. Using dispersive clay soils in

hydraulic structures, embankment dams, or other structures, can cause serious

engineering problems if these soils are not identified.

create a database of two componential ground motion records (GMR),

seismic hazard analysis, generation and processing of multicomponential

response spectras, analysis of design parameters, processing of pushover curves

and surfaces, calculation based on hybrid incremental nonlinear static-dynamic

analysis, target displacement analysis, analysis and scaling of response spectras

and analysis of target displacement envelope. For four considered methods for

analysis of system performances: nonlinear static pushover analysis (NSPA),

ANALYSIS OF VULNERABILITY OF BUILDINGS DAMAGED AS A

RESULT OF TERRORIST ATTACK: SCENARIO OF NON-LINEAR

ANALYSES AND MULTI-CRITERIA OPTIMIZATIONS

The paper develops and presents a new multi-disciplinary methodology for the

analysis of vulnerability of buildings exposed to accidental actions due to a

terrorist attack. The methodology is based on Non-linear Static Pushover

Analyses (NSPA) taking into account the principles of Performance-Based

Design (PBD). The stiffness matrix for the impact of vertical actions has been

used as the initial stiffness matrix in the non-linear analysis which is used to

simulate the collapse of individual ground floor columns, forming several

possible scenarios. The stiffness matrix by the end of the analysis which

simulates the collapse of individual columns is used as initial stiffness matrix in

Non-Linear Static Pushover Analysis. The building's vulnerability has been

analyzed based on the calculated global and inter-storey drift, newly developed

damage coefficient, and multi-criteria optimization. Prompt, reliable and

sufficiently accurate answer can be obtained by using newly developed damage

through non-linear and up to the collapse state. On the other hand, the damage

scenario which requires priority and/or emergency repairs has been identified

using the PROMETHEE multi-criteria optimization and considering the

predefined alternatives and criteria. When linking different scientific disciplines

(non-linear numerical analyses, failure analyses and multi-criteria optimization)

qualitative and quantitative decisions can be made about the vulnerability of

buildings with several optimized aspects.

PERFORMANCE-BASED NON-LINEAR SEISMIC METHODS OF

STRUCTURES: A REVIEW OF SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE IN THE

LAST 20 YEARS

The authors of the paper, on the basis of the analysis of several thousand

scientific papers, presented their original systematization of nonlinear seismic

methods for structural performance analysis, which were developed in the last

twenty years. Nonlinear seismic methods are generally classified into two

groups: Nonlinear Static Analyses (NSA) and Nonlinear Dynamic Analyses

(NDA). The analyses of non linear seismic structural response were classified

separately from the target displacement analysis which defines the relationship

of the seismic demand and the seismic response. On the other hand, the

classification was also conducted depending on whether a nonlinear response of

the system is obtained by the implementation of incremental-iterative

procedures or by the implementation of semi-iterative and/or semi-incremental

procedures. Nonlinear Dynamic Analyses were classified according to the

concept of mathematical formulation, i.e. whether they are based on only one

dynamic analysis, several dynamic analyses or are solved in combination with

other methods. By implementing the conducted systematization and

classification of nonlinear seismic methods, one can very efficiently consider

which type of method is optimal for structural analysis and which type of

method should be taken into account in the phase of preliminary and final

analyses in the course of scientific research and professional projects.

The paper starts with some typical damage, of reinforced concrete (RC)

building, caused by incidental actions. These are the structures that have been

deficient in terms of robustness. Related to this is analyzed their impact on

changes in technical regulations and guidelines for the robustness design of

these structures. Some definitions of robustness, which is considered the

capacity of the structure to ensure that the case of local damage does not lead to

progressive structure’s collapse, are commented. Limit the damage is achieved

with structural measures provide margin of capacity, and/or alternative path of

transmission forces. Increase robustness lead to prevent or mitigate local

structures failure. A broad overview of the literature and assessment the

robustness and appropriate recommendations and measures to prevent or

mitigate the progressive collapse, are presented. Some provisions relating to the

robustness of the RC building are compared. A specific analysis of damaged

skeletal buildings structure with the presentation of some results is showed.

THE INVESTIGATION OF OUTWARD APPEARANCE OF FLAWS ON

ROOF TILES

The investigation presented in this paper was conducted with an aim to identify

nature and cause of non-typical flaws that appeared on outward visible surfaces

of roof tiles. The non-homogeneities appeared on the samples’ surfaces in the

form of stains which manifested after immersions in water and/or aspersing

water on the tile surface. In order to investigate the roof tiles, the quality tests

were conducted in accordance with SRPS EN 1304:2012 standard.

Microstructural analysis was conducted via optical microscope and scanning

electron microscope coupled with energy dispersive spectrometer. The

inhomogeneities appeased as a local phenomenon due to the porous structure of

micro cracks generated by coarse metallic grains that were imported with the

raw materials.

The objective of this paper is to give a new viewpoint in contact fatigue

assessment in the spur gears. The presented research is based on up-to-date

methods and multidisciplinary approach, and enables direct prediction of

fatigue damage initiation in contact zones. The special attention is paid to the

involute geometry provides the stress gradients for theory of critical distances

FRACTURE ANALYSIS OF THE PULLEY OF A BUCKET WHEEL

BOOM HOIST SYSTEM

This paper presents the results of the pulley fracture analysis. Experimental

investigations confirmed that the chemical composition and basic mechanical

properties of the pulley material, except the impact energy at a temperature

of –20°C, meet the requirements of the corresponding standard.The impact

energy value at the temperature of –20°C is for ≈45% lower than the prescribed

value which has considerable influence on the appearance of the brittle fracture,

especially having in mind the fact that the bucket wheel excavators operate at

low temperatures. Metallographic examinations as well as magnetic particle

inspections indicated that initial cracks in the welded joints occurred during the

manufacture of the pulleys. Characteristic levels of the rope load cycle are

obtained by using in-house software which includes the dynamic effects of the

resistance-to-excavation. The FEA results pointed out that in the representative

load cases the combinations of the mean stress and the alternating stress in the

pulley critical zone lie considerably below the limit line of the modified

Goodman's diagram. The conclusion, based on the presented results, is that the

fracture of the pulley appeared as the result of the 'manufacturing-in' defects.

Safety of welded structures depends mainly on shapes of welded joints, stress

concentration, heterogeneity of structural and mechanical properties of base

metal (BM), heat affected zone (HAZ) and filler metal (FM), residual stresses

and strains due to welding procedure and imperfections in welded joints.

Welded joints, therefore, are frequent spots of fatigue fractures. Fatigue fracture

in welded structures commonly initiates in the spots of stress concentration.

Significant reduction of fatigue durability is related to theoretical stress

concentration factor which actually is ratio of maximal and nominal stress (kt =

σmax /σ ). Theoretical stress concentration factor data for certain types of

welded joints which are available in literature are mostly obtained by the

method of photo-elasticity, and recently also by the finite elements method.

This paper presents results of experimental examinations of stress concentration

influence to fatigue life of butt welded joints with K-groove, produced from the

most frequently used structural steel S355J2+N. One group of experiments

comprised examinations carried on the K-groove specimens with stress

concentrators of edged notch type. Specimens with short cracks (with limited

length of initial crack), defined on the basis of the experiences from fracture

mechanics by the three points bending examinations, have been examined

according to standard for the determination of S-N curve, and aimed to

determine permanent fatigue strengths for different lengths of initial crack and

functionality between permanent fatigue strength and crack length. Other group

of experiments comprised examinations of specimens with edge notch, prepared

in accordance with ASTM E 399 for the examination by the three points

bending, in order to establish regularity between crack growth and range of

exerted stress intensity factor aimed to determine resistance of welded joint to

initial crack growth, namely fatigue threshold (ΔKth).

Vertical Kaplan turbines, manufactured in Russia and with nominal power of

200 MW, have been installed in 6 hydroelectric generating units at hydro power

plant ’Djerdap 1’. Hydroelectric generating sets have been designed for the

service life of 40 years due to structural solutions and limited possibilities of

performing periodic inspections and state analyses. During the rehabilitation of

the hydroelectric generating sets, non-destructive tests were performed on all

components and structures in order to complete state analysis. In this paper the

damages and methodology of repair welding for damaged glasses, which are the

integral part of the kinematic system of runner blades, are presented.

BEHAVIOR OF WELDMENTS RELATED TO BRITTLE FRACTURE

AS A CRITERION FOR WELDABILITY EVALUATING

Evaluating of the weldability of high strength steel, generally means that two

aspects of behaviour must be considered. These are firstly, the risk of cracking

during fabrication and secondly, the risk of failure during service. Because of

that the weldability of steel is a complex property since it covers three main

indications of weldability. Indications of weldability are summarized as

follows:

Sensitivity of weld metal and heat affected zone to any type of cracking during

or after welding, behaviour related to brittle fracture and mechanical and

technological properties of welded joint, macro and microanalysis of base

metal, heat affected zone and weld metal.

In this paper, the part of weldability assessment of two high strength low

alloyed steel are presented. These results are used for integrity assessment of

weldments.

Four different testing methods (instrumented impact Charpy test, nil ductility

drop weight test temperature, explosion crack starter and fracture mechanics

tests) had been applied for brittle fracture behaviours of base metal and welded

joints, produced by manual arc welding. The results, obtained for ΒΜ, WM and

ΗΑΖ were evaluated too as a contribution of weldability testing.

Siguran i pouzdan rad mašinskih elemenata i sistema jedan je od imperativa

bezbednosti i energetske efikasnosti mašinskih elemenata i sistema, posebno u

energetici. Polazno sagledavanje osnovne ideje, definisane u monografiji, jeste

da svaki pomak u oblasti razumevanja fizike procesa fenomena zamora i

primene dobijenih karakterističnih veličina, bilo eksperimentalno bilo

numerički, ne može biti učinjen bez razmatranja više redova veličine, od mikro

do makro, kao i integraljenjem znanja iz više tehničkih disciplina.

Na osnovu navedenog, definisan je pravac višegodišnjeg istraživanja čiji je

jedan od rezultata i predmetna monografija, odnosno pitanje kako što tačnije

kvantifikati uticaj izvora koncentracije napona u uslovima zamora. Za rešavanje

ovog zadatka razvijene su nove metode za procenu nastanka i širenja prslina

primenom savremenih teorija, numeričkih metoda i eksperimentalnih rezultata i

definisanje metodologije primene razvijenih metoda na analizu otkaza

konkretnih mašinskih elemenata.

Primena metodologije je opisana na način koji omogućava uočavanje

karakteristika svakog od koraka u njenoj primeni uz jasno naznačene metode

koje su pri tome korišćene i načini analize rezultata, što je od posebne važnosti

za potencijalne čitaoce monografije iz redova inženjera. Primeri iz prakse,

opisanu u monografiji, izabrani su tako da opisuju različite izvore koncentracije

napona, kao šro su: geometrijski diskontinuiteti, izvori koncentracije napona u

uslovima kontakta i kao ostali izvori koncentracije napona kao što su

mikrostuktura, korozija, zavareni spojevi i slično.

designated as A1, non-destructive tests were performed on all components and

structures in order to complete state analysis. In this paper the damages and

technology of repair welding for damaged glasses, which are the integral part

of the kinematic system of runner blades, are presented. Kaplan turbines, with

nominal power of 200 MW, fulfill their function through the six blade runner.

The role of the glass is to transfer the force from the servomotor piston through

the connecting rod coupled with the crank onto the sleeve, which enables the

displacement of the runner blade and alteration of the rotation angle of the

blade, depending on the turbine regulation system parameters. The need for

blade rotation is derived from the requirements for the optimization of the

efficiency factor due to the alteration of power, stretch and water flow.

Likewise, the role of glasses is to guide the piston and the piston rod,

maintaining the predefined mutual clearance.

Excavation, transport and spreading of barren soil and crude ore are being

performed by a number of machines during the continuous production process

at excavation sites, such as: bucket-wheel excavator, conveyor and spreader (so

called ECS system). Failure of any machine in the technological chain leads to

the failure of the whole system, and therefore it should be considered a structure

with a serial connection.

In this paper the results of non-destructive tests performed at welded joints and

parent material (visual testing, penetrant testing, ultrasonic testing, radiographic

testing, hardness testing) on the basis of which the state analysis of components

of the damaged structure, integrity evaluation of braces of the cutting and

discharge boom and homogeneity of welded joints of newly formed structures

of the spreader A2Rs - B 5500.55 + BRs at the excavation site ’Drmno’ near

Kostolac, Serbia were performed, are presented. Taking into account the fact

that the user of the spreader does not own the design and technical

documentation, all tests and researches presented in this paper were performed

under the assumption that the lattice structures of both cutting and discharge

boom were made of structural steels S355 and S235, in accordance with

standard EN 10027-1.

U radu su predstavljeni rezultati strukturnih i mehaničkih ispitivanja sučeonih

spojeva raznorodnih aluminijumskih legura AlCu4,5Mg (AA2024) i

AlMg4,5Mn (AA5083) zavarenih postupkom FSW. Primenom optimizovang

alata za zavarivanje, spojene su ploče debljine 6 mm. Međusobni položaj ploča

u spoju je variran tako da je u prvom slučaju ploča od AA2024 pozicionirana na

strani napredovanja a ploča od AA5083 na povratnoj strani spoja. U drugom

slučaju položaj ploča je bio obrnut. Korišćeni su sledeći parametri zavarivanja:

brzina rotacije alata nije menjana i iznosila je 750 obr/min a brzina zavarivanja

iznosila je 73 i 93 mm/min. Dobijeni su spojevi bez prisustva grešaka i sa

glatkom odnosno prihvatljivo ravnom površinom spoja. Analiziran je uticaj

parametra zavarivanja na dobijenu strukturu i mehanička svojstva spoja. Oblik

grumena i u njemu prisutnih koncentričnih krugova, zavisi od brzine

zavarivanja i položaja ploča u spoju. Do loma uvek dolazi na strani spoja gde je

pozicionirana ploča od legure AA5083. Karakteristično je da se lom uvek

dešava na rastojanju od oko 21 mm od centra spoja.

Hidroelektrana Pirot, koja je izgrađena 1990 godine, je akumulaciona elektrana

derivacionog tipa, koja se sastoji od dva nadzemna vertikalna agregata sa

Francis turbinama nominalne snage 41,5 MW, proizvedene u Češkoj Republici,

tunela i ukopanog cevovoda ukupne dužine 2030 m i prečnika od Ø 3000 mm

do Ø 3500 mm. Cevovod debljine lima 22 mm je izrađen od čelika kvaliteta

S275J2G3 (stara oznaka Č.0462). Maksimalni pritisak ispred turbinskog

zatvarača je 2,5 MPa.

Na cevovodu se u kontinuitetu od završetka izgradnje i puštanja u rad sprovode

geodetska merenja kada je cevovod prazan i neopterećen hidrostatickim

pritiskom i kada je cevovod pun. Pregledom i analizom dobijenih podataka o

pomeranjima duz trase cevovoda utvrđeno je da od 2003-2004 godine postoje

znatno veće razlike u pomeranjima za pun i prazan cevovod, nego u

prethodnom periodu.

U radu je izvršena analiza trenutnog stanja i ocena čvrstoče cevovoda kao celine

na osnovu rezultata ispitivanja sučeonih zavarenih spojeva i ukrsnih masta

metodama bez razaranja u zoni preloma na stacionaži - dužini cevovoda

1+263m (vizuelno ispitivanje, ispitivanje magnetnim česticama, ispitivanje

penetrantima, ispitivanje ultrazvukom, radiografsko ispitivanje, metalografsko

ispitivanje metodom replika).

Ocena sklonosti ka inicijaciji i propagaciji prsline je analizirana ispitivanjem

Šapri epruveta. U radu su prikazani rezultati eksperimentalnog određivanja

parametara rasta zamorne prsline zavarenog spoja mikrolegiranog čelika.

Analizirano je kako heterogenost strukture i mehaničkih svojstava MŠ i ZUT

utiče na pojavu i rast prslina, odnosno parametre rasta zamorne prsline.

Tehnička dijagnostika u slučaju konstrukcika i delova rotornih bagera

površinski kopova treba da se zasniva na određenim procedurama ispitivanja,

istoriji njihove upotrebe u eksploatacionim uslovima rada, kao i analizi rezultata

tima stručnjaka sa odgovarajućim iskustvom i znanjem iz oblasti projektovanja,

konstruisanja, eksploatacije, održavanja, pouzdanosti, mehanike loma i dr.

Degradacija osobina materijala i/ili zavarenih spojeva konstrukcija i delova

rotornih bagera površinski kopova izazvana je istovremenim uticajem velikog

broja tehnološko - metalurških, konstrukcijskih i eksploatacijskih faktora.

U radu je dat primer gde su ispitivanja bez razaranja omogućila ocenu

integriteta zavarene konstrukcije zatege (lamele) rotornog bagera sa greškom u

zavarenom spoju. Rotorni bager je proizvod nemačke firme “TAKRAF”.

Integritet konstrukcija je relativno nova naučna i inžinjerska disciplina, koja u

procenu veka i revitalizaciju konstrukcija. To znači da, osim uobičajne situacije

u kojoj treba proceniti integritet konstrukcije kada se ispitivanjima bez razaranja

otkrije greška, ova disciplina obuhvata i analizu naponskog stanja. Ovaj pristup

je posebno važan za zavarene konstrukcije koje su izložene radnim uslovima

tipičnim za nastanak prslina, kao što je zamor.

Na šest hidro-generatorskih jedinica Đerdap 1 ugrađene su vertikalne cevne

turbine Kaplan, nominalne snage 176 MW, izrađene u Rusiji. Projektovane su

za radni vek od 40 godina, zbog konstrukcijskog rešenje, odnosno

nemogučnosti periodičnog ispitivanja i analize stanja. Zavarena konstrukcija

gornjeg prstena usmernog aparata radnog kola izrađena je iz četiri segmenta od

čelika oznake kvaliteta St 3, prema GOSt 977/88. Zavarivanje delova prstena je

izvršeno pod praškom (EPP postupak zavarivanja).

U toku revitalizacije turbine A6, za analizu stanja i ocenu nivoa i uzroka

eventualne degradacije konstrukcije gornjeg prstena usmernog aparata radnog

kola na hidroelektrani Đerdap 1 izvršena su ispitivanja metodama bez razaranja

i ispitivanja sa razaranjem osnovnog materijala i zavarenih spojeva.

U radu su dati rezultati ispitivanja zavarenih spojeva magnetnim česticama i

ultrazvukom. Ispitivanja ultrazvukom su pokazala da postoji neprovarenost u

korenu zavarenih spojeva i lamelarno cepanje u osnovnom materijalu.

Na osnovu rezultata eksperimentalnih ispitivanja izvršena je analiza uzroka

pojave degradacije osnovnog materijala i grešaka u zavarenim spojevima

gornjeg prstena usmernog aparata radnog kola.

FINAL FLOTATION WASTE KINETICS OF SINTERING AT

DIFFERENT HEATING REGIMES

In the copper extraction, especially during the process of flotation enrichment

and the pyrometallurgical processing, the waste materials that represent huge

polluters of environment are being generated. In order to examine the

application of Final flotation waste (FFW) in the manufacturing of new

materials from the glass-ceramic group phase and mineral composition were

examined as well as thermal properties. FFW kinetics of sintering has been

tested at different dyamics (1oC/min, 29oC/min and 43oC/min), in order to find

the optimum conditions for sintering with a minimum amount of energy and

time consumption. The samples were examined using: X-ray diffraction, X-ray

fluorescence analysis, SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and thermal

microscopy. The best results for the production of glass ceramic materials were

obtained during the sintering at heating regime of 29oC/min.

NEED TO IMPROVE THE NATURAL AGGREGATE RESOURCES

SUPPLY IN THE CITY OF BELGRADE (SERBIA)

The City of Belgrade is the largest market for aggregates in Serbia but the

production of natural aggregates is rather small, around five percent of total

consumption. This reflects the geology of the City of Belgrade territory,

dominated by Neogene and Quaternary sedimentary rocks. The production of

crushed rock and sand and gravel on the territory of Belgrade was almost equal,

while majority of imported aggregates is sand and gravel due to lower price.

Consumption of crushed rocks includes around 90 % of limestone and dolomite,

the rest being magmatic rocks. The main issue of using crushed rock on the

territory of the City of Belgrade is the long transport routes, which are usually

near or more than 100 km, creating more logistic problems and increasing cost

of aggregates Therefore it is necessary to establish a good supply system with

low socio-environmental impact of aggregate production and transport, and the

basis for that is the analysis of actual structure of production and supply of

natural aggregates and new potential quarries and/or sand and gravel pits.

Gradska Gora is a volcanic dome within a Rudnik magmatic massif, situated in

central Serbia. The volcanite of Gradska Gora is represented namely by dacite,

sporadically grading into andesite. It has been traditionally used for various

building purposes by local inhabitants for many decades, with intermittent

organized exploitation of moderate production range. Here presented results of

field examinations and laboratory testing of petrological and technical

properties have defined the potential of this deposit as a source of building

stone, both for architectural purposes and for production of aggregate.

PHASE COMPOSITION OF GLASS-CERAMICS OBTAINED BY

CRYSTALIZATION OF BASALT GLASS

The aim of this paper is to as certain the suitability of basalt from Vrelo

(Kopaonik, Serbia) for the production of glass-ceramics. By crystallizing of

basalt glass at the temperature of 9500C a glass-ceramic material was

synthesized with a microstructure which has good mechanical characteristics.

Phase composition of the obtained material was determined by XRPD and

SEM. Two phases were found: pyroxene which corresponds to the omphacite of

the composition (Na0.199K0.180 Ca0.471Mg0.249) 1.1

(Mg0.271Fe0.299Al0.430) 1.0 (Si1.704Ti0.046Al0.250) 2.0O6 and glass with

an approximate ratio 69:31.

TYPES AND APPEARANCE OF THE FRAGMENTS MOST

FREQUENTLY PRESENT IN THE BRICK CLAY SIEVING RESIDUE

After the clay particles size and distribution patterns have been established, it is

necessary to examine the mineralogical composition of the sieve 0.063 mm

residue and its percentage within the original raw material. Fractions above

0.063 mm are not convenient for industrial processing of clays, especially if

they contain fragments of CaCO3 composition.Sieve residue often includes the

fragments of quartz, carbonates, loess nodules, remains of macro flora and

fauna, limonite, mica and opaque minerals. In this paper, we present the macro

and micro appearance of the fragments most often present in the sieve 0.063

mm reside of Serbian brick clays.

EROSION OF ALUMINA-GRAPHITE NOZZLE FREQUENT CAUSE

OF REDUCED DURABILITY

The goal of this paper was to clarify the appearance of erosion of nozzles

manufactured from refractory material based on the alumina-graphite. Erosion

of the alumina-graphite nozzles occurs due to the effect of casting powder

(external erosion) or due to the effect of steel (internal erosion). The intensity of

the external erosion depends on the type of casting powder being in contact with

the alumina-graphite nozzle. The nature of casting powder is determined by its

mineralogical-chemical composition, so that aggressive casting powders bring

about intense erosion. It is often the cause of reduced durability of the alumina-

graphite nozzles. Namely, the thickness of nozzle wall is reduced due to intense

erosion, which can lead to nozzle cracking and its exclusion from further

utilization. Besides external erosion, the cause of reduced durability of alumina-

graphite nozzle can be internal erosion too, which is the result of steel effect.

Internal erosion is rarely a direct cause of reduced lifetime of alumina-graphite

nozzle. Most often, the internal build-up is formed as a result of the appearance

of internal erosion of nozzle that reduces the nozzle orifice and thereby the steel

flow as well. Such nozzle is excluded from further utilization. The internal

build-up can be formed even without the appearance of internal erosion when it

is exclusively the product of steel de-oxidation and re-oxidation process. The

changes that occurred in the wall of alumina-graphite nozzle due to external or

internal erosion during exploitation have been shown in this paper. They have

been determined by the polarization microscope in reflected and transmitted

light. The changes occurred in the wall directly with the contact of nozzle wall /

casting powder and nozzle wall / steel.The presented examples are characteristic

for special type of refractory material such as the alumina-graphite refractory

material, and therefore, they clarify the occurrence of alumina-graphite nozzle

erosion.

Blast Furnace slag is a very important secondary raw material obtained in the

technological process of iron and steel production. In addition, there is Blast

Furnace slime, converter slag, mixer slag, mixer dust and other secondary raw

materials. All enumerated secondary raw materials are more or less successfully

applied in different industrial branches. Blast Furnace slag is mostly utilized in

our country's cement industry and road maintenance. A survey of only some of

the results of mineralogical-chemical testing of Blast Furnace slag in Železara

Smederevo is given in this paper, which results were obtained during the

characterization and control of the same in a longer time period. The selected

ELECTRON MICROANALYSIS OF FRAGMENTS IN SIEVE RESIDUE

OF BRICK CLAY

The paper presents the results of electron microanalysis of fragments found in

the sieve residue of brick clays originating from a deposit formed in loess-

alluvial environment.The deposit is located inVojvodina. Clay from this deposit

is used for production of bricks. Macroscopic and microscopic observation of

0.063 mm sieve residue has enabled the detection of quartz, carbonate and loess

fragments, micas, fragments of macro-flora and macro-fauna. Fragments

contained in the sieve residue were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy

(SEM) and electron dispersive spectrometry (EDS).

Four detection spot (so-called interests) were chosen. Chemical analysis of

selected fragments confirmed the presence of CaCO3 in carbonate fragments

(limestone) and CaCO3 in fragments of macro-fauna (shells). It is also

confirmed that some fragments chemically correspond to feldspar, quartz, mica,

loess and carbonized macro-floral fragments.

Linearno termičko širenje prirodnog kamena ima veliki značaj pri izvođenju

građevinskih i arhitektonskih radova, jer vertikalne i horizontalne površine na

kojima nije predviđen prostor za termičko širenje kamena mogu biti narušene

do potpuno uništene usled mehaničkih deformacija do kojih dolazi zbog

nastajanja napona pri promeni ambijentalne temperature, na koju prirodni

kamen reaguje dilatacijom i kontrakcijom. Ispitivanje linearnog termičkog

širenja kamena poreklom iz pet vulkanitskih kompleksa Vardarske zone Srbije

pokazalo je da su njihove vrednosti niže u poređenju sa vrednostima linearnog

termičkog širenja poznatih varijeteta granita iz sveta, ali u nivou vrednosti

linearnog termičkog širenja granitoidnih stena poreklom iz iste geotektonske

jedinice.

The general view is that people have good quality of life when they meet their

basic needs for shelter, food and water. An earthship is a type of passive solar

house made of natural and recycled materials. Behind the earthship concept is

40 years of research and thousands of built self-sufficient buildings that are

green in its materials and energy efficiency. The quality of life of its residents is

reflected in a state of wellbeing as they live- off- grid, without bills, growing

their own food and living in a harmony with themselves and with nature.

Therefore, this paper shows that the Earthship concept is an excellent example

of a sustainable quality of life.

ENERGETSKE KARAKTERISTIKE BRIKETA OD BIOMASE OD

MISKANTUSA

Cilj ovog rada je uporedna analiza rezultata dobijenih sagorevanjem briketa

čiste trske Miskantusa, briketa trske pomešane sa Topolom (Populus nigra) i

čamovinom i mešavine samo Topole i čamovine. Analizom energetskih

tehničkih karakteristika briketa poreklom od hibridne vrste Miscanthus

xgiganteus ustanovljeno je da velika produkcija biomase po jedinici površine

(10-30 t/ha/godišnje), može nadomestiti manjkavosti koje se ogledaju u većem

sadržaju pepela (3,30%) i koksa (18,34%), odnosno nešto niže toplotne moći

(16,08 MJ/kg) u odnosu na brikete od drvne mase. Predlaže se izrada briketa

koji su mešavina Miskantusa i neke druge vrste biomase, gde bi procentualno

Miskantus imao veći udeo. Ovim bi se dobili kompaktni briketi, sa niskim

procentom vlage, pepela, koksnog ostatka i zadovoljavajuće toplotne moći, što

je i dokazano mešanjem Miskantusa sa Topolom i čamovinom u masenom

odnosu 50:25:25. Takođe se može zaključiti da je ekološki i ekonomski

isplativije proizvoditi brikete koji imaju veći sadržaj Miskantusa, a manji

sadržaj drvne biomase čiji je period rasta i razvoja mnogo duži.

Savremeni materijali i konstrukcije sa regulativom, Beograd, 2016, 51-60.

Šljaka je nusproizvod koji predstavlja 10% ukupne količine materijala nastalog

u procesu sagorevanja uglja u postrojenjima za proizvodnju električne energije.

Veoma mali deo količine šljake je našao svoju primenu, ostatak se odlaže na

deponije. Istraživanja u okviru ovog rada predstavljaju ulazak u novu oblast

ispitivanja mogućnosti primene i plasmana šljake. U tom smislu je sprovedeno

sagledavanje karakteristika i kvaliteta dva tipa šljake (hemijska analiza, sadržaj

teških metala i mikro elemenata u eluatu; mineraloška i fizičko-mehanička

ispitivanja), kao i ispitivanje mogućnosti primene šljake u različitim

građevinskim kompozitnim materijalima. Cilj istraživanja je stvaranje

programskih uslova za upravljanje šljakom i svođenje njenog uticaja na životnu

sredinu i zdravlje ljudi u granice prihvatljivosti.

Prva nacionalna konferencija sa međunarodnim učešćem Ekološke i socijalne

Uprkos brojnim primedbama stručne javnosti, 01.09.2015.godine otpočelo je

probno punjenje površinske brane i akumulacije “Stubo–Rovni” na reci

Jablanici kod Valjeva, a čiji projekat je zakonski utvrđen još davne 1988.

godine. U radu ćemo se osvrnuti isključivo na primedbe koje se odnose na

narušavanje životne sredine u njenom integralnom obliku, a preko kojih želimo

kao i načela pluri-perspektivizma, kao metodološke odrednice bioetike a koji

podrazumeva naučne i kulturne perspektive per se.

UTICAJ TERMIČKI I MEHANOHEMIJSKI AKTIVIRANE

KAOLINSKE GLINE NA MEHANIČKA SVOJSTVA I STRUKTURU

CEMENTNIH KOMPOZITA

Doktorska disertacija odbranjena na Fakultetu tehničkih nauka Univerziteta u

Novom Sadu 2016. godine.

Predmet ovog istraživanja je razvoj nove generacije mineralnih dodataka,

dobijenih termičkom i mehanohemijskom aktivacijom kaolinske gline i

ispitivanje svojstava kompozita, u kojima je deo portland cementa zamenjen

dobijenim pucolanskim materijalima, za različite režime nege.

Kaolinska glina Aranđelovačkog basena, sa visokim sadržajem nečistoća,

podvrgnuta je termičkoj i mehanohemijskoj aktivaciji. Ispitan je uticaj različitih

teholoških parametara procesa termičke aktivacije (temperatura i vreme

zagrevanja) i mehanohemijske aktivacije (vreme mlevenja) na pucolanska

svojstva metakaolina i amorfnog kaolina. Hemijske, strukturne i morfološke

promene kaolinske gline do kojih je došlo tokom termičke i mehanohemijske

aktivacije praćene su XRD, DTA/TG, FTIR, PSD, BET i SEM-EDS metodom.

Pucolanska aktivnost ocenjena je određivanjem čvrstoće pri pritisku, starosti 7

dana, na krečnim malterima, prema standardu SRPS B.C1.018:2001.

Dobijeni metakaolin (MK) i amorfni kaolin (AK), primenjeni su u cementnim

kompozitima u kojima je portland cement zamenjen sa 10 - 50 %. U mešavine

sa preko 30% MK/AK, dodata je izračunata količina kalcijum-hidroksida (CH),

u obliku hidratisanog kreča, da bi se postiglo optimalno iskorišćenje i potpuna

reakcija CH sa pucolanskim materijalom. U cilju poređenja uticaja različitih

režima nege na mehanička svojstva i mikrostrukturu cementnih kompozita,

primenjeni su normalan i autoklavirani režim nege. Pripremljene su cementne

paste sa istim stepenom zamene portland cementa i za iste režime nege, kao i u

kompozitima. Proizvodi hidratacije su određeni XRD i DTA/TG metodom, a

poroznost i raspodela veličine pora metodom utiskivanja žive.

Rezultati su pokazali da su termička i mehanohemijska aktivacija kaolinske

gline jednako pogodne metode za dobijanje pucolanskih materijala -

metakaolina i amorfnog kaolina. Mehanohemijska i termička aktivacija

primenjene na istoj kaolinskoj glini izazvale su različite hemijske, strukturne i

morfološke promene. Uprkos značajnim razlikama u strukturi i fizičko-

hemijskim svojstvima koja su postignuta primenom ove dve različite metode

aktivacije, pucolanska aktivnost amorfnog kaolina je konkurentna metakaolinu.

Različiti faktori doprinose pucolanskoj aktivnosti: kod metakaolina to je

potpuna amorfizacija kaolinita (povećanje sadržaja reaktivnog silicijuma), dok

je kod amorfnog kaolina, delimična amorfizacija kaolinita kompenzovana

potpunom amorfizacijom liskuna i značajnim povećanjem specifične površine.

Rezultati primene metakaolina u cementim kompozitima su pokazali da se pri

normalnom režimu nege, pozitivni efekti na čvrstoće pri pritisku mogu postići

primenom do 30 % MK. Uz dodatno mlevenje nakon termičke aktivacije,

sadržaj MK se može povećati do 40 %, uz dodatak CH. Amorfni kaolin se može

primeniti u kompozitima, sa stepenom zamene portland cementa do 10 %.

Čvrstoće pri pritisku MK kompozita, svih starosti, su veće u odnosu na AK

kompozite usled sledećih razloga: amorfni kaolin, zbog nepotpune amorfizacije

kaolinita, ima manji sadržaj reaktivnog silicijuma, pa je potrošnja CH i

nastajanje C-S-H faze manje. Zbog toga se doprinos čvrstoćama kompozita

može pripisati uglavnom filer efektu, koji delimično kompenzuje manji sadržaj

reaktivne faze i pucolansku reakciju, ali nedovoljno, što je dovelo do smanjenja

čvrstoća pri pritisku.

Pri autoklaviranom režimu nege svi kompoziti sa metakaolinom i amorfnim

kaolinom pokazuju niže čvrstoće pri pritisku u odnosu na referentni portland

cement. Slične vrednosti čvrstoća pri pritisku dobijene su u svim kompozitima

sa metakaolinom i amorfnim kaolinom, izuzev kompozita sa 10 % AK i 50 %

MK (uz dodatak CH), koji su pokazali najviše vrednosti. Smanjenje čvrstoća pri

pritisku svih cementnih kompozita pri autoklaviranom režimu nege je posledica

nastanka hidrogarneta.

GEOMEHANIČKA SVOJSTVA ERODIBILNOG I DISPERZIVNOG

FINOZRNOG TLA

Doktorska disertacija odbranjena na Rudarsko-geološkom fakultetu

Univerziteta u Beogradu 2016. godine.

Disperzivna tla su posebna vrsta finozrnog tla, kod kojih usled njihovog

hemijskog i mineraloškog sastava, kao i prirode fluida koji ispunjava porni

prostor, dolazi do slabljenja strukturnih veza i odvajanja pojedinih čestica iz

strukture, koje disperguju i deflokulišu. Ispiranjem i iznošenjem čestica iz

strukture, disperzija se sa mikro nivoa postepeno razvija na makro nivo što za

posledicu ima formiranje posebnih pora u tlu, formiranje erozioni kanali i

pojave unutrašnje erozije u tlu. Primenа finozrnog disperzivnog tla zа izgrаdnju

nаsutih geotehničkih objekаtа: nаsutih zemljаnih brаnа i nаsipа, može

prouzrokovаti ozbiljne inženjerske probleme, ukoliko ovаkvo tlo nije

identifikovаno ili je neogovаrаjuće upotrebljeno tj.ugrаđeno. Disperzivne gline

se ne mogu jednoznačno prepoznati vizuelno identifikacionim opitima na

terenu, ili uobičajenim standardnim metodama koje se koriste za identifikaciju

tla u geomehaničkoj praksi.

U disertaciji su prikazani rezultati laboratorijskih geomehaničkih ispitivanja

uzoraka finozrnog tla u cilju identifikacije i klasifikacije erodibilnog

disperzivnog finozrnog tla. Ispitivanja su sprovedena metodama: grudvice tla

(crumb test), duplog hidrometrisanja - (SCS opit) i strujanja vode kroz

formiranu cilindričnu poru (pinhole opit), na uzorcima: prašinastih glina i lesa

različitog porekla. U cilju poboljšanja svojstva tla razmatran je uticaj zbijenosti

tla na disperzivnost. Ispitivanja disperzivnosti pinhole metodom su pokazala da

stepen zbijenosti nema značajnijeg uticaja na ponašanje - klasu disperzivnosti.

Kako disperzivna tla predstavljaju nepovoljna tla za ugradnju/izgradnju nasutih

objekata analizirana je i mogućnost poboljšanja tla dodavanjem

elektrofilterskog pepela. Ispitivanjima sprovedenim pinhole opitom na uzorcima

disperzivnog tla dodavanjem 10, 30 i 50% pepela, postignuto je željeno

ponašanje, ona su postala nedisperzivan.

Konferencija Građevinski materijali i konstrukcije sa regulativom 2016. godine

obuhvata veoma širok raspon osnovnih tema, pa tako obuhvata kompozite,

keramičke materijale,izolacione, konstrukcione, eko materijale, kao i domaću i

međunarodnu regulativu. Zbornik radova obuhvata 14 radova i obima je 150

strana. Veliki broj radova tretira konkretne probleme koji se javljaju u

savremenoj građevinskoj praksi pri izradi na primer,torkret betona ili

samougrađujućih betona,kao i mikroarmiranih betona i maltera. Načinima

ugradnje cementnih kompozita takođe, posvećena je dužna pažnja.

S obzirom na savremenu i aktuelnu problematiku održivog razvoja, tj. održivog

graditeljstva i na količine i problem postojanja otpadnih materijala u Srbiji, u

nekoliko radova se prikazuju rezultati eksperimentalnih istraživanja primenom

otpadnih materijala kao na primer šljake iz procesa sagorevanja uglja,zatim

otpadnih materijala kao i njihove primene u samozbijajućim betonima i u

lakoagregatnim konstrukcijskim betonima. Prikazuju se i potencijalni

ekonomski efekti primene otpadnih materijala. Recikliranim materijalima je

takođe posvećena pažnja i prikazana je mogućnost njihove primene u betonima

i malterima sa aspekta tehnologije, ekonomičnosti i trajnosti. Radi se o

recikliranom agregatu od drobljenog betona,drobljenoj opeci, recikliranom

staklu od katodnih cevi, letećem pepelu,flotacijskoj jalovini itd.

SERTIFIKACIONO TELO

Institut IMS ad je na osnovu Rešenja Ministarstva građevinarstva, saobraćaja i

infrastrukture broj 35-00-00251/2013-04 od 28.05.2014. godine, imenovan kao

telo za sprovođenje ocenjivanja usaglašenosti cementa opšte namene i cementa

za specijalnu namenu u skladu sa zahtevima Pravilnika o kvalitetu cementa (Sl.

glasnik RS, br. 34/13 i 44/14).

Institut IMS a.d. je upisan u registar imenovanih tela za ocenjivanje

usaglašenosti pod jedinstvenim registarskim brojem И 030.

Institut IMS a.d. je krajem 2013. godine potpisao ugovor sa češkim institutom

TZUS (www.tzus.cz) o saradnji i zajedničkom nastupu na tržištu RS, kojim se

proizvođačima građevinskih proizvoda iz RS omogućava sertifikacija proizvoda

u skladu sa važećom regulativom u EU (Uredbom (EU) br. 305/2011

Evropskog parlamenta i Saveta (CPR) i harmonizovanim tehničkim

specifikacijama) i izvoz na tržište EU.

Saradnja sa češkim institutom TZUS, Prag nastavljena je i u 2016. godini kroz

zajedničko sprovođenje sertifikacije proizvoda prema harmonizovanim

evropskim standardima, kao i kroz održavanje obuka u cilju pripreme osoblja

Instituta IMS za predstojeće izmene regulative.
