It was important to check financesbefore embarking on a search.

“Decide as early as possible if you canafford to buy your next home beforeselling your existing home,” Mr Hobbssaid. “This is likely to involve extra short-term borrowing; however, you save onthe cost of rental accommodation. Thisstrategy mostly suits homeowners whohave significant equity in their existinghome.”

Mr Hobbs said it was important forbuyers to have a plan for what theywanted in their next home.

“As soon as you decide you want torelocate, take an active interest in likelyareas and properties that will suit yourneeds,” he said. “When choosing aproperty to inspect, stay focused on thetype of home that suits your needs. Alsokeep a close eye on the properties selling
