Reading Plus®
Communication Resource Additions
Generate Parent/Guardian Home Use Letters for students assigned to complete sessions outside of the school setting. These individualized letters (available in English and Spanish) inform parents and guardians about the Reading Plus® system’s methods and goals, and provide step-by-step instructions on how to log in to the system from outside the school.
Student messaging facilitates better communication between teachers and students. When first logging in to the Reading Plus® system, students will see any messages sent by their teacher. Message history archives are stored in the new My Messages tab in the Student Dashboard.
New Notes & Messages panel allows teachers to log details relating to individual student progress and setting adjustments. Teachers also can send messages to an entire class or individual students. All notes and messages are stored, for easy review of implementation details on specific students.

Reporting Refinements & AdditionsLevel Gain Report
Motivational Student Metrics
The Student Progress Report now displays the total number of words read from all Guided Reading™ selections completed with 70% or higher comprehension, as well as corresponding lesson count.
Students who will follow the class schedule have schedule icons next to their names.
Students who will not follow the class schedule should be “unscheduled” to prevent their usage data from distorting fidelity-of-use measures for the class. Use the unschedule feature to streamline fidelity monitoring and improve overall class and site fidelity measure accuracy. (Deselect “Student is required to follow Class Schedule” from within a student’s Info & Settings panel to unschedule the student.)
The new Level Gain Report tracks level gain independent of grade level to improve progress monitoring of students who begin the Reading Plus® System five or more levels below their current grade.
The metrics added to the Student Progress Report allow students to set personal goals and compare performance with other students to increase motivation. This report now displays the current number of consecutive lessons the student has completed with a comprehension score of 70% or higher (the current streak), as well as the greatest number of consecutive lessons for which the student has maintained a comprehension score of 70% or higher (the longest streak).

Teachers can now select the appropriate sub-population checkbox for ELL, SPED, and High Ability students to provide the Reading Plus® system with information necessary to determine the most appropriate assessment and instructional settings and adjustments for these students.
New Just-in-Time Help movies provide step-by-step instructions on the most efficient and effective way to perform routine tasks and essential monitoring practices. These movies can be found within the Training Movies section of Help. Access Help from Teacher Management or log in directly fromwww.readingplus.com/help using a Reading Plus® username and password.
New rereading formats and features help students take best advantage of reread opportunities, track the effects of rereading on individual question comprehension, and alert students to the number of rereads remaining. The system will assign reread presentation formats based on sub-population specification. Teachers may adjust the presentation format through the Info & Settings panel.
College Basic Ed and Adult Basic Ed settings ensure these sub-populations begin placement assessment at levels appropriate for their ability, and allow the Reading Plus® system to assign achievable goals to improve motivation.
