Homecoming news by Lainie Long

If you are a big Kremlin fan then you would know that we had our

Homecoming game on October 4 and you would know that we crowned our

Homecoming Queen and King. The homecoming crowning started at about

6:30 p.m.. Our homecoming escorts were Connor McCollough, Lee Olmstead,

and Chantz Tucker. Our homecoming queen candidates were Haley Carson,

Karlee Bittle and, Hannah Wuerflein. The little flower girl was Aidyn Seek.

The little football boy was Chase Pirtle. Both of them are in kindergarden. The

homecoming Queen and King were Haley Carson and Lee Olmstead.

Academic team competes on Mind Games On Sunday, Oct. 13, KHS academic team competed in the Channel 51,

KSBI, academic competition called Mind Games. Jacob Pekrul, Jordan

Presley, Hayden Bonine, and Connor Snapp represented the Broncs and they

competed hard, but were outdone by the senior-dominated Pioneer Mustang

team, losing 440 – 240. Because both teams got the Ward Petroleum-

sponsored Oklahoma History question correct, they both left with a pretty

good sum of money. KHS took home $480 and Pioneer got $680. Pioneer

will advance to the next round of competition in January/February. It was

an interesting experience for the Broncs and for the second year in a row,

they were eliminated in the first round by a Garfield County school (losing

last year to Enid High). An interesting side note: the show’s production

supervisor is KHS alum Sean Nichols (class of ’95).

KHS hosted Medford, Cimarron, and DCLA in the District Seeding

tournament on Monday, October 14. KHS is in Class A this year. KHS

defeated Medford 140-80, DCLA 180-120, and Cimarron 210-180. Captain

Jacob Pekrul led the Broncs in scoring with 100 points, followed by Hayden

Bonine with 80, Jordan Presley with 70, and Connor Snapp with 10. Other

players for KHS were Trev Schoenhals, Megan Courtney, Zeb Hawkins, and

Briley Craig.

Next up for the Broncs is the KHS Invitational on November 9. Anyone

interested in watching the competition is invited to come. There is no

admission charge and the games can be quite exciting. KHS will also host

Regional (Nov. 16) and Area (Jan. 18) tournaments. Roger Gossen is

entering his 30th year as an academic coach (5 in KS, 25 at KHS).

KHS girls had a great season in fast pitch softball and the

football team is having its best season in years.

BOND ISSUE

For new school Vote Nov. 12

On November 12th a bond issue,

will be placed before the patrons of

the Kremlin-Hillsdale School

District. This Bond Election will

make available the much needed

funds for the residents of Kremlin-

Hillsdale to invest in our children’s

education. The proposed bond will

provide the funds needed to build a

new junior high and high school

facility.

The current facility has become a

chronic maintenance problem. Our

current facility does not have a

tornado shelter; the new facility

addresses this concern.

The $8,820,000 will be financed

through the issuance of General

Obligation School Bonds. Your

investment in our children of

Kremlin-Hillsdale School District is

needed.

More Homecoming news:

The winners of the homecoming floats in high school

were the juniors, who got first, and then the freshmen

who got second. In junior high the eighth grade got first

and the sixth grade got second.

The homecoming signs were all very good but only

three classes were the best. The kindergarteners, second

grade, and the fifth grade were deemed the best.

Every bike looked very cool and they all showed how

much people support Kremlin and the Broncs. For the

first and second grade the winners were Ally Neal,

Harley Brinson, and Emma Grace Jander. For the third

and fourth grade winners were Emma Aebi. Ty Neal,

and Harley Perdue. For the fifth grade Cooper Coffey

won. First place won a ten dollar Cherry Berry gift card.

The second place winner got a five dollar gift card and

third place won a drink and candy of their choice.

The homecoming game was an amazing game for the

football team and the school. The Broncs won 52-6. We

played Claremore Christian High School. Go Broncs!

Homecoming week was very good and many people

dressed out. On Monday it was super hero day, Tuesday

was decade day, Wednesday was pajama day, Thursday

was sports hero day, and Friday was red and white day.

A bunch of students dressed up and showed their support

for our school.

Thank you everyone that showed up at the

homecoming game and everyone that dressed up during

the week. Thank you for showing your support. Go

KHAEF The Kremlin-Hillsdale Academic Enrichment

Foundation has just begun to consider the grant

proposals turned in by KHS teachers. They were due

Oct. 8.

The Kremlin Hillsdale High School yearbook staff this

year is prepared and highly motivated. The staff consist

of Mrs. Edington,the new advisor, Hannah Weurflein,

the editor ,Meagan Courtney, the assistant editor,Connor

McCollough and Tyler Jones, the business managers,

Timothy Mardis, the reporter, Kendra Sellers, Kendra

Sweetwood, Ashleigh Brewer, Baylee Smith, Zeb

Hawkins, Amanda Hole, Keeley Horning, Jessica

Brinton, and Shay Regier. We would like to remind

everyone that you can upload any picture to

Replayit.com or the Replayit app and we can use it in

our yearbook. The entire yearbook staff is excited to

produce another great Kremlin Hillsdale school

yearbook this year and thanks all of our sponsors and

supporters.

National Honor Society by Karlee Bittle

The 2013-2014 officers are: President Hannah

Wuerflein, Vice President Ryan Voth, Secretary Connor

McCollough, Reporter Karlee Bittle, and Student

Council Representative Trev Schoenhals.

Other NHS members include seniors Braley Bench,

Haley Carson, Ciarra Creel, and Elizabeth Elliot. Juniors

in NHS are Cassidy Albert, Hayden Bonine, Megan

Courtney, Katie Davis, Amanda Hole, James Olmstead,

Jacob Pekrul, Shay Regier, and John Schrader.

We have many upcoming events this year. Be on the

lookout for Red Ribbon week on October 21-24. Also,

NHS will be hosting two blood drives, the KHS

Invitational, Trivia Challenge, and will be involved in

concession stands.

Cafeteria news

The cafeteria staff would like to thank all those who

helped get the cafeteria a new mixer, and for the support

to make repairs to the cafeteria. They would also like to

mention that if you have a microwave that works and

you are not using to let them know. If you are willing to

donate it, we will gladly take it off your hands.

High school band news

High school band has been working hard this year on

their marching; we have chosen five songs by the

Beatles including: A Hard Day’s Night, If I Fell, Do You

Wanna Know a Secret, Hey Jude, and Can’t Buy Me

Love. Their first marching competition was on Tuesday,

October 1, 2013, and they received a 1! They also

competed in the Regionals marching competition on

October 9, 2013. On October 8, 2013 they hosted Taco

Tuesday which included a meal, and you got to watch

the high school band march on our own field, they

served approximately 150 people. They marched in the

regionals competition on October 9, 2013. Their scores

were 2, 1, 2, which unfortunately did not get them into

the state marching competition. We are hoping to see a

lot of supporters on our future events!

2013-2014 Miss KHS by Emily Felber

Olivia Felber is Miss KHS. Once you win Miss

KHS, you go to Miss Cinderella Contest at NWOSU.

This is a pageant that if you win you get a scholarship. It

contains three segments of judging. They are evening

wear, talent and interviews. Olivia is doing an acapella

version of “Cups” from Pitch Perfect. The hardest part is

most likely going to be the talent competition.

If you win Miss Cinderella, then the scholarship for

Northwestern OK State University in Alva is for one

year’s tuition of $4930.The Cinderella Pageant is on

October 24th and October 25th. Olivia hopes that you

will come support her. The 24th is the talent contest. The

25th is the first part of the actual pageant. The 26th is the

homecoming parade in the morning. “I want to show

girls that you can be beautiful no matter what size you

are,” is Olivia’s motto. She hopes that she will win so

she can prove that her goal is not too far to reach.

FFA news

The Kremlin-Hillsdale FFA chapter has competed in a

lot of events up to this point in the year. FFA members

have shown at the Garfield County Fair, Oklahoma State

Fair, and Tulsa State Fair. Along with showing, the

chapter is active in the Greenhand Quiz and Opening

Ceremonies. The two events require a team and both

teams have been practicing and working hard. The

chapter officers attended COLT (Chapter Officer

Leadership Training) Conference in Enid in September.

They are excited to put their new skills to work!! The

chapter officers will also be attending the National FFA

Convention in Louisville, KY at the end of this month.

FFA Booster Club news

The FFA Booster Club will be having our annual chili

and soup cook-off and pie auction on Saturday

November 16, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school

cafeteria. Everyone is welcome to enter soup or chili,

please contact Shelli Sellers if you would like to enter

your favorite recipe! Following the meal we will also be

auctioning off 25 delicious homemade pies. The cost for

this event is $5 per person and includes a cup to taste test

and vote as well as dessert. Be sure to mark your

calendar for this great opportunity to eat some delicious

soup and chili and to support the Kremlin-Hillsdale FFA

Booster Club!

Band Booster news

The Band Boosters want to remind everyone about the

upcoming band carnival on the 24th of October from 6 –

8 pm in the new gym. The carnival is to help raise

money to for the band trip to Disney World in Florida

that the high school band is going on over spring break.

The carnival is going to have different stuff for all kids.

So parents send your kids to the new gym and let them

play all the different games.

The band boosters also want to thank everyone that

came to their fundraiser at Atwoods. They also want to

thank everyone that came to Taco Tuesday. That was

also to help raise money for the high school band trip.

WildHorse Gang news by Gini Zaloudek

WildHorse Gang is an organization of volunteer

youth that are dedicated to helping their community.

This program was started to help youth become

better and to have a brighter future. It was founded

twenty-one years ago by Gini Zaloudek. They raise

money from fundraisers, and they donate it to

places that need it to help keep it running. Recently

we helped at the great land run by passing water to

the runners. We also walked in the Cherokee Strip

parade and cleaned up after the horses.

WHG donated 1000 dollars to the Kremlin

Hillsdale Academic Enrichment Foundation, and

4,500 dollars to the Kremlin Stewart Pool for

upkeep and maintenance. 100 dollars went to the

YMCA Back-A-Youth scholarship, and 1500

dollars for the WildHorse Gang scholarship. We

have recently participated in the Aluminum Can

Round up, the Red Bows for Christmas, and we

collected Pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House

in Oklahoma City. In November we will be

ushering at the Enid Symphony.

High school football

Kremlin-Hillsdale is 3-3 after losing to Tyrone on the

road Friday, October 11. But in district play, the Broncs

stand at 2-1 with three district games left, two of which are

at home (Timberlake on Oct 17, Bluejacket on Oct 25 –

Senior Night). They have November 1 off (because

Carney dropped football for this season) and finish at

Cherokee on November 8.

The current Bronc seniors were in kindergarten when

Kremlin had their last winning season (2000-2001 when

KHS won State). Kremlin –Hillsdale has outscored their

opponents 254-158 so far this season, compared to being

outscored 215-122 at this time last year. “I think we’re

headed in the right direction.” Kremlin –Hillsdale coach

Jeremy Brashears said “It’s been awhile since we have

been here.” The Broncs averaged fifty points during a

three game winning streak after beating district C3 rival

Claremore Christian 52-6 last week. “We played better

than we did the week before,” Brashears said “but we still

have a ways to go. The competition will get tougher over

the last three games, but we control our destiny. At this

point, we’re in the driver’s seat (for the playoffs). We just

have to take care of business and get there.”

Brashears avoids giving out individual praise, saying the

Broncs’ success has been built on a team-first philosophy.

“The kids are buying into it and are working hard and

playing well as a team,” he said. “In the past Kremlin-

Hillsdale has had one kid that stood out above anybody.

We just play well as a team. “The kids don’t give up. They

don’t act up after making a mistake. That’s been a problem

in the past. These kids keep on fighting. They have a lot of

fire in their gut.” This was shown Friday night as they

battled from behind at Tyrone but never gave up.

Broncs play Timberlake on Thursday night because of

Fall Break. They will host Bluejacket on Senior Night,

October 25. Come out and support the Broncs as they

make a run at the playoffs for the first time in over a

decade! GO BRONCS!!!

Jr high football

Jr. high football is coached by Coach Tyler Severin and

consists of 16 players. That includes Nathaniel Snodgrass,

Riley Jung, Beau Brownell, Ian Franklin, Dakota Gabriel,

Hunter Minnick, Austin Ellis, Corbin Ritchie, Brandon

Woodruff, Jayden Chadwick, Draden Stallings, Cody

Bower, Mason Myers, Brett Russell, Bobbie Gray, and

Dakota Wilson. The team’s record is 1-4, but they have

been very competitive. Come on out and support our team

on our remaining games at Pond Creek on Oct. 14 and at

home vs Cherokee on Oct. 28.

Elementary football by Hailey Hicks

Undefeated! The elementary football team has had a

good year as their record is 5-0. Coach Severin is the head

coach and he coaches a team of 20 players. The team

includes Tyler Machia, Cooper Coffey, Logan Baker,

Tristan Lockhart, Trace Henry, Miguel Rodriguez, Jon

McGrath, Chase Parker, Andrew Wheeler, Bailey

Hoeltzel, Kody Thorton, Robert Newberg, Nicolas

Snodgrass, Rocco Maner, Austin Schievink, Magwire

Lunday, Bradie Gray, Talon Montgomery, Dalton

McAlister, and Garvin McKee. Come out and support us

on our remaining games: at Pond Creek on Oct. 14, our

intra-squad game (RED-WHITE) on Oct. 21, and hosting

Cherokee on October 28.

The cross country team is just getting into its season. At

the Timberlake meet which was Sept. 26 Rebecca Wasson

placed seventh, and at the Watonga meet on Oct. 5

Rebecca Wasson placed ninth and Cody Bower placed

seventeenth. They have regional meet coming soon. Tana

Turney is cross country coach this year.

Cheerleading news by Cherokee Minter

Currently there are 13 cheerleaders in elementary, and

their names are Chloe Aguliar, Katy Brashears, Kelsie

Brinson, Kaylynn Brownell, Kyrah Cook, Taylor Ellis,

Hope Ellis, Mary Keithly, Josie Larsen, Demi Suiter,

Gracie Vandiver, Malia Voth, and Matthew Wheeler.

There are 6 cheerleaders in junior high and their names are

Lauren Bonine, Hannah Carson, Caitlyn Henry, Alice

Keithly, Calla Regier, and Meghan Roberts. Last but not

least are the high school cheerleaders and there 8 of them

and their names are Braley Bench, Jessica Britton, Haley

Carson, Amanda Hole, Keeley Horning, Jessey Martin,

and Ryan Voth.

Junior high fastpitch softball news by Brad Hawkins

The JH Fastpitch softball team had an outstanding year.

They had over 15 girls come out to play. There was a good

mix of 7th and 8th graders together. The girls played well

together and improved immensely as the season

progressed. They ended the season at 9-1.

High school fast pitch softball

by Coach Hawkins

The 2013 fast pitch softball season was an exciting

season. Coach Hawkins took over the program this year

and got the girls started on August 1st with several early

morning practices. Following a week of practices the team

went to Stillwater to participate in a ropes course designed

to enhance the quality of teamwork among the players.

During the activities the players learned a lot about what

means to work together, communicate and come together

as collective group of individuals. Coach Hawkins credits

the team outing as having a big influence on the type of

season the team had this year. The Lady Broncs finished

with a 20-10 record.

In the district tournament they defeated Timberlake and

Cherokee. Capturing the district championship on

Wednesday against Cherokee was one of the most exciting

wins of the season. The girls played behind the whole

game but came through in the 6th inning to take control

and win 10-6. It was the first district championship in

several years.

The regional tournament was held in Lahoma on

Cimarron’s home field. But KHS brought a large

contingent of fans to the opening game and saw the Lady

Broncs explode to a win over the host team 8-2. They lost

to Arnett in the evening game (while most fans were back

in Kremlin at the homecoming parade). KHS bounced

back against Waukomis on the next day to set up a

rematch with third-ranked Arnett. The Lady Broncs

played close for awhile, but were overmatched and lost 11-

1.

When the dust cleared on the 2013 season the Lady

Broncs were Glencoe tournament Runner-up., Cimarron

tournament Consolation champs, District champions, and

played in the Regional Championship, finishing in the top

16 teams in the state! In addition, Ryan Voth, Karlee

Bittle, and Katie Davis were named to the Cherokee Strip

All- Conference softball team and Hannah Wuerflien and

Haley Carson were named Honorable Mention. Way to go

Lady Broncs!!!!

Lady Bronc Basketball Fundraiser by Coach Tana Turney

The Kremlin-Hillsdale Lady Bronc basketball team

consists of some very dedicated young ladies. Participating

in our fund-raising efforts is one way you an assist these

young ladies in their preparation for our upcoming season.

The proceeds from this project will help purchase team t-

shirts and matching travel outfits for the team.

Every player will shoot 100 free throws on Thursday,

October 17th. We are asking for your support by pledging

an amount for each free throw made by the player you

sponsor. Examples: .10, .25, .50, $1.00 per shot. You may

also choose to make a donation instead of a pledge. After

the Shoot-A-Thon, each player will contact you with her

results. Checks can be made out to Lady Bronc Basketball.

We are very excited about the upcoming season! The

girls have worked very hard this past summer, putting lots

of time in the gym and in the weight room. Pre-season has

just kicked off and the Lady Broncs are full of enthusiasm

and determination. We have set the bar high for this year,

and expect big things from this group of girls. We look

forward to seeing you at the games! Thank you in advance

Seventh news by Morgan M. Miller

Hello students, we have had a pretty good year so far!

We have lots of new students who will love it here! Our

junior high softball team had a great season and finished

with nine wins and one loss. Cross country has done great!

Our junior high football is going great with one win and

four loses. Homecoming game didn’t go as planned it

started raining, but after an hour we got started again and

won. The homecoming dance got cancelled sadly. And all

grades sixth grade and up had a blast decorating floats!

Eighth grade had the best float and won! Well that’s all the

news I have now.

Junior class news by Hayden Bonine

The juniors are starting the year off strong. Many of

them are playing sports, but all of them are involved in

planning for their killer prom whose date is undecided.

The softball team won districts and made it to regionals

with some great plays by Katie Davis, the only junior that

played softball. Megan Courtney is running cross country

for KHS and does her best at every meet. There are lots of

juniors playing football; they include: John Schrader,

Andre Lizar, Antwon Lizar, Jacob Pekrul, Austin Brewer,

Blake Bower, Jadrien Stubblefield, and Hayden Bonine.

They are working hard and filling their roles on the team,

and they hope to make the playoffs this year. The

cheerleaders of the junior class are Keeley Horning,

Amanda Hole, and Jessey Martin. The class is looking

forward to excelling in all that they do and becoming

seniors soon!

Freshmen class news by Zeb Hawkins

This year we have three new students in the ninth grade

class: Skyler Woodruff, Cadence Husky, and Zeb

Hawkins. For our homecoming week we picked superman

as our superhero and our float was centered on superman.

6th

grade news by Dalton McAlister

We are still adjusting to being in the new building,

switching classes and all our teachers, but we are working

on it. With our football we are 5-0. The team is really

excited about winning every game so far. The team has

worked really hard to make this season a good one. Our

coach Mr. Severin has worked really hard to help each and

every one of us. We are glad to have our cheerleaders to

cheer us one.

In band we are getting a lot better with our notes. We

picked our band Queen and King. They were Magwire

Lunday and Aundrea Bratcher. Mrs Toelle is also working

with every one of us to help us get better. We all

appreciate the hard work Mrs.Toelle puts in.

We are getting a lot better at getting to each class on

time. We are also getting a lot more organized. Grade

reports are coming out sometime after fall break. Fall

break is the 17th and 18

th . We can’t wait!

8th

grade news Alice Keithly

The 8th graders had a fun and busy homecoming week

this year. Makaela Long showed her school spirit by

dressing up for the spirit days and helping to decorate the

float. She said that was her favorite part of homecoming.

Josh Reimer commented that he was happy our high

school football team beat Claremore Christian and won

their homecoming game.

Perhaps the best part of the week was when the 8th

graders hard work and school spirit were rewarded when

they won 1st place in the float contest. When asked what

her favorite part was about homecoming, Jazzy

Stubblefield replied “Winning the contest twice in a row.”

This year, the theme for their homecoming float was

“Freeze the Warriors.” It featured Nathaniel Snodgrass as

“Mr. Freeze” and Cody Bower as “The Warriors”. For a

special effect, the class used dry ice on the float which

created a smoke-like effect. Cody Bower noted that he

liked how the dry ice helped the class to win.

The 8th graders enjoyed homecoming week and look

forward to the rest of the year.

4-H news by. Emily Felber

Head, heart, hands, health. Marlys Schroder is the leader

of 4-H. They have monthly meetings, do service projects

monthly and do fun stuff as a group. It helps our

communities by helping us become better citizens and

gaining life skills such as self-discipline, records keeping,

and being able to work together. They do all the things

they do to” make the best better “and learn how to be a

better citizen.

4-H has almost always been at Kremlin. It was started

to help develop youth to their fullest potential in areas of

leadership. It raises money through fundraisers and grants.

It uses the money on projects such as visiting nursing

homes, smile bags, and to help inform people of strokes. It

is open to everyone and has no charge to join. 4-h is open

to people ages 9-19 and Cloverbuds is open to kids ages 5-

8. 4-H used to be strictly Agriculture students only but in

recent years it opened to everyone. It is very close to the

STEM program. STEM stands for Science, Technology,

Engineering, and Mechanics. So far there are about 7

million people around the world that are involved with 4-

H. All 77 counties in Oklahoma have 4-H programs.

This past week was 4-H week and to celebrate we had

activities in our school and throughout our communities.

This year will be our 7th annual Trick-or-Treat for cans

where instead of asking for candy on Halloween we will

be asking for canned goods to take to the Horn of Plenty.

Around Thanksgiving we will be making food bags to give

to less fortunate families for their Thanksgiving supper.

New Staff at KHS

Ms. Amber Bedwell by Cassidy Albert

Amber Bedwell, one of the newest members of Kremlin-Hillsdale School,

grew up in Richmond, Indiana. She went to high school at North Montgomery

High School, and went to college at Hutchison Community College for two

years. Then she finished up her education at Oklahoma State University.

Her parents are Tracy and John Bedwell. She has a sister that goes to school

at Fort Scott Community college and a brother that goes to school at North

Montgomery High School.

Ms. Bedwell has previously taught at Laverne, Ok, for one year. When asked

what she thought about our school district so far, she said that she likes how the

students want to learn and participate in her agricultural classes.

Mrs. Charolette Buller by Cherokee Minter

Mrs. Buller grew up in the area of Goltry, Oklahoma. When she was growing

up she attended Helena and Goltry Schoosl. She taught at 5 different schools

before here and they are McLoud, Straytor, Crescent, Covington, and

Ringwood. She currently has 3 children and she is married (to former KHS

teacher and principal Jon Buller). She says she loves the school district, she

loves all the teachers and students, and everyone is so nice. She also said she

has the best class which is the 3rd

grade!

Mrs. Anna Pirtle by Eugene Brooks

It is our delight to have Anna Pirtle a part of our teaching staff here at

Kremlin Hillsdale School. Anna Pirtle has been teaching for 8 years. She went

to Southern Illinois University where she received a Biology Education degree.

Anna Pirtle loves science. Her favorite part of teaching is interacting with the

students.

Anna Pirtle is married to Dave Pirtle and has 3 kids. She plans to stay at

Kremlin Hillsdale for a long time; she likes Kremlin because of it being a small

school where everyone knows everyone. We are glad that Mrs. Anna Pirtle

chose to be a part of the Kremlin Hillsdale staff and have enjoyed seeing her

interact with the students.

Mr. Tyler Severin by Hailey Hicks

Tyler Severin, or Coach Severin as many of the students call him, is a new

teacher this year at Kremlin. This is the first time he has ever taught at a

school. He was born in Goltry and went to school at Timberlake. He went to

college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He says he likes it here at

Kremlin, that everybody is very welcoming, and that so far it has been a good

experience. Mr. Severin and his wife are expecting their first child to be born

next spring.

Mrs. Katie Streck by Cassidy Albert

Katie Streck grew up on a farm south of Kremlin, Oklahoma. Her

husband is Johnny Streck, and they’ve been married for two and a half

years. He farms in Kremlin. They have a daughter named Kenzi, who is

one year old.

Mrs. Streck went to Oklahoma Bible Academy for her high school

career. Afterwards, she went to Oklahoma State University for a degree

in elementary education and graduated in May of 2011.

She has previously taught third and fifth grades at Coolidge

Elementary in Enid. She was there for two years before she came here.

She says that she loves teaching here and that it is a great place to work.

My Persuasive Essay

“I've never let my school interfere with my education.” -Mark Twain

Education is the foundation for youth. The students will carry on the knowledge they learned with them for the rest of

their lives. The knowledge will be used to get into college and later on jobs. The school building has always been a place

of wisdom and honor. A school should be up kept and cared for, but even the best custodians can’t compete with leaky

roofs, broken AC units, and even moldy vents and bathrooms. These are just some of the deteriorating conditions at KHS.

The school of Kremlin-Hillsdale was built over eighty years ago. Since then the school has used what it is given

to help students, wishing for a better future. Wear and tear has caused the once great school to become rusted, moldy, and

not a conducive place for education. The students have trouble concentrating when water drops from the ceiling onto their

desks or when electrical problems interfere with class time. Many things have caused students to become distracted by

problems with the school. To learn, they first must focus.

For these reasons the Kremlin-Hillsdale School has proposed a bond issue to build a new high school. In order for

it to be passed and put onto action the community must vote. The election will be November 12th. The bond issue will

make the school a better place in order for students to learn in a better environment. The bond issue will allow the school

to be built and be completely funded.

The new high school will be very close to the existing one. The new building will include a new multi-purpose

gym, auditorium, AG room, band room, and a storm shelter; all these facilities go above FEMA (Federal Emergency

Management Agency) requirements. Everything that is in the Bond Issue has a purpose and will be used appropriately.

The new building will be everything that Kremlin-Hillsdale needs to progress in its academic excellence.

In doing this the school will help students reach their goals and be able to become responsible adults. Their

education helps them find their place in society and become respectful citizens. Let’s not let them be a victim of their

environment and do something about it.

Vote “Yes” on November 12th to help students not only to learn but grow as well.

Bond Election

November 12, 2013 What will the election provide for our schools?

On November 12th a bond issue, will be placed before the patrons of the Kremlin-Hillsdale School District. This Bond

Election will make available the much needed funds for the residents of Kremlin-Hillsdale to invest in our children’s

education.

Why do we need this election? One part of our present high school was built in the late 1920’s and added onto several times throughout the years. Air

conditioning units, leaks in the gymnasium and throughout the school, and constant plumbing and electrical problems are

routinely being fixed or replaced. The current facility has become a chronic maintenance problem. Our current facility

does not have a tornado shelter, the new facility addresses this concern.

With your help we can address these issues. The proposed bond will provide the funds needed to build a new junior

high and high school facility.

Included at the new school will be classrooms, a gymnasium/auditorium, band room, which will double as a safe room,

and shop for Vo-Ag program.

What will our investment be? The $8,820,000 will be financed through the issuance of General Obligation School Bonds. Your investment in our

children of Kremlin-Hillsdale School District is needed. Anyone who paid $100 in property taxes this year, will pay

approximate $121 in property taxes should the bond pass. Taxes will remain at that level for 10 years, and then will begin

to reduce down. Vote November 12th and help give our children the kind of education they deserve!
