2009: A new handset brand was launched
The intent: Respond to the consumers’ demand for a feature- packed phone at affordable prices
First Handset: Feature-packed phone with ONE MONTH BATTERY BACK UP. A huge benefit to power shortage
states like UP and Bihar where it was initially launched.
Initial ads – very local and Indian in tone and style with product and
features as “Hero”
The handset, and hence the brand were a runaway hit.
Emboldened, Micromax entered new territories like Punjab and Haryana…
Next Model… once again, advertising was very local in flavour, with the
product and features as hero
This model too hit the bulls’ eye
Prompted Micromax to set up R&D and Manufacturing facilities as against trading of Korean handsets till now
