It is with immense pleasure that I introduce Udaybhansinhji Regional Institute of Cooperative Management

and 'OUTREACH' our placement programme.

URICM is one of the premier Agribusiness Management Institute in India. Its ability to continuously keep abreast

with the changes in the Agribusiness environment has equipped our student to adapt skills which help them facing

the dynamic changes happening in the economy presently. This continuous learning process has also helped

URICM to cater to the needs of the industry both private and public, better than most other comparable

Agribusiness Institute.

Our infrastructure, faculty, pedagogy and diverse student base is second to none. The candidates for PGDM (Agri-

business) are selected through a rigorous and competitive process, based on CAT and MAT scores, academic

achievements, industry experience and GD/PI. The seventh batch of 2014-2016 is blend of diverse streams

including B.Sc.(Agriculture), B.Tech (Food Tech, Dairy Tech),Commerce, B.Sc.(Biotechnology) and

BBM(Agri). Our students have made mark wherever they have gone. They have been groomed to be effective

team players, leaders and to become agents of change.

The design of PGDM(ABM) programme includes meticulous course structure and pedagogy to include learning

passion into the participants. Core courses include and cover major functional areas of management to build a

strong foundation for learning the basics of a business;Analysis and discussion of cases provide the opportunity to

be a close to real situation as possible, elective courses prepare students to comprehend and evaluate the new areas

of learning; group activities create the environment for working through teams and communicating effectively.

OUR ETHOS

Udaybhansinhji Regional Institute of Cooperative Management (URICM), Gandhinagar was established in 1956

and is named after Udaybhansinhji , the Prince of Porbandar who was an active leader of the Cooperative

movement during his time. He was also the founder chairman of Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative

Organization (IFFCO), which has emerged as the world's largest fertilizer company.

URICM is administered by the National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT), funded by Ministry of

Agriculture and Department of Cooperation, Government of India. Withstanding the PGDM (ABM)

Programmer, the Institute also offers long term & short term training programmes for the Executives of

Government depts. and Cooperatives. The long duration training programmes .i.e. Higher Diploma in Cooperative

Management (HDCM) and Diploma in Industrial Cooperative Management are organized.

The institute organizes over 80 short term programmes of various durations. These programmes deal in various

aspects of banking, Cost reduction in the processing sector, Managerial Skill development and a variety of other

courses for the empowerment of women, Micro"nance in collaboration with SEWA, NCCE, NABARD, NHB,

ICAetc.

Infrastructure

The campus, spanning an area of 4 acres, is situated in the capital city of Gujarat, Gandhinagar. The campus boasts

of a state-of -the-art academic block. It has 2 air-conditioned amphitheater classrooms, conference room, a

computer center and an examination hall.

The Classrooms are equipped with Computers, LCD projectors and OHP’s. to facilitate teaching and learning.

Library

The library is a veritable powerhouse of knowledge for management studies and research. It provides a vast and

constantly updated resource to its students to ensure their overall development. The aim of the Library is to serve

the needs of URICM’s faculty, Research Scholars, Students and Members of the Library. It is the heart of the

institution and acts as a center for the collection of literature predominantly related toAgri-Business Management

and its allied subjects and develops a comprehensive collection of information that is useful for teaching and

reference purpose. User satisfaction is the current day approach to library service. The Library also provides

access to the best of business and management related digital resources though its subscription to various

databases consisting of scholarly and industry relevant content.

URICM, Gandhinagar has been conducting the two years Post Graduated

Diploma inAgricultural Management since 2008.

The centre is focused on fabricating young minds coming from different

academic background and with diverse skills to complete within the

competitive corporate world.

Students are facilitated with an assortment of technical skills and

professional management to understand the socio-culture system and

emerge as leaders in their "elds. They are exposed to the contemporary

developments in the economy and industry through hands-on skill

acquisition through case studies, research articles, exercises and other

related publications.

They are facilitated to develop-

- Required conceptual base in the different subjects in the areas of

Agri. Business Management.

- Acquire the relevant skill in using modern management tools and

techniques.

- Develop application of skills with appropriate management

techniques in the context ofAgri-Business.

The PGDM (ABM) is an approved course by the ALL INDIA COUNCIL

OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION (AICTE)- New Delhi. The programme

comprises of two segments, viz. Classrooms lectures and practical exposure

through Summer Internship, Observation Study tours and Project work.

This unremitting assessment enables the students to implement corrective

measures at the right time and meet the standard of performance prescribed

by PGDM committee.

The programme is designed with classroom teaching component,

integrating case method pedagogy. 36 credits have to be completed in six

terms. 24 credits of subjects are offered in core management areas and 12

credits for specialization subjects, 2 credit courses are devoted for project

course to equip students to take challenging course inAgri-Business sector.

In addition, the Institute provides soft skills training and an online MS-

Of"ce certi"cation course.

The Batch of 2014-16 consist of 12 students was place in a number of reputed agri input companies and bank . selection

process was greatly aided by written test, group discussions and personal interviews of the short listed students.

Our students placed in a diversi"ed sectors in various reputed organization like BASF, DUPONT, NBCL,BIG

BASKET, HDFC, DEEPAK FERTILIZERS.

Summer Internship programme is the important part of curriculum. Which the student exercise the theoretical

knowledge gained during the study, in the organization.

The institute witnessed a rich mix of roles and project being offer by many illustrious companies. The batch of 12

student was offered internship in companies across wide range of functional area.

Some of companies who granted summer internship to the student interested the area of marketing and market research

were NBCL, HUL, YARA Fertilizer, Dhanuka Agritech Ltd, IFFCO Fertilizers, AlpGiri Seeds, Nuziveedu Seeds Pvt

Ltd, General Mills, Havmor Ice-Cream, Seva Mandir etc.

Some of the student who interested in "nance and supply chain management joined agility logistics, bank of

Maharashtra, Food Corporation of India.

The summer interns were greatly appreciated by their organization. The success of summer internships re%ect the

quality of management education and value of transmitted to the institutes participants in the line with corporate

requirement.

The winter project are another signi"cant part of the course curriculum. A students are require to a research project on

functional area of study. This cover myriad number of topics under core subject such as market research, supply chain

management, "nance etc. The knowledge and skill gained by the student during their two year study are tested during

this period. They are require a submit a report and present their "nding before a plan consisting of an external

investigator project guide and faculty.

Placement Committee

The Placement of"ce is managed by the Placement Committee which consists of student representatives.Aplacement

coordinate is selected from the faculty. The activities of the Placement Committee include coordinating for the

Summer Internship Program and the Campus Recruitment Program. It corresponds with the prospective recruiters,

arranges Pre-Placement Talks and Personal Interviews on Campus and provides all the facilities required by the

visiting companies.

Recruitment Process

The company shall inform the Placement Of"ce about the following details well in advance:

·� The method of Recruitment (Preliminary Test, GD, Interview, Case, etc.)

·� Number of Rounds of the GD and group size.

·� Number of Rounds of Interview.

·� Approximate duration of the GD's and Interviews.

Alumni Committee

As the Students walk out of URICM, they embark upon a journey to put their learning and Skills to the best use. It is

important for the institute to encourage the threads of connection forged during their time hero, to pulse with life even

after years have passed. On account of Nurturing this connection from this year, the Alumni Committee has been

formed with this intention. In this regard, a website was also designed to enable all the past alumni to be connected

with Institute.
