Participation

Background

In 1985, the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) in collaboration with the National Science Foundation and

the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) successfully established a 50-ha permanent research plot amidst

the lush greenery of the Pasoh Forest Reserve in Negeri Sembilan. Managed by FRIM along with the Center for

Tropical Forest Science (CTFS), the plot is part of a large network of tree demographic plots located all over the

world.

This year, FRIM proudly celebrates the plot in its 25th year of ongoing collaborative research, boasting partnerships

with prestigious local and international institutions around the globe. This symposium serves as a platform for those

involved in extensive studies at the plot to come together to present their research findings as well as to share their

views and experiences with relevant forestry sectors and parties of interest.

Paper presentations are by invitation only.

However, there will also be a poster exhibition

on the Pasoh 50-ha plot during the symposium,

so submissions are welcome. Poster presenters

should submit abstracts containing no more

than 300 words no later than 15th Sept. 2010

for consideration. Please email the abstracts toMs. Joann Christine at joann@frim.gov.my.

Tentative Program

After the symposium, participants may opt for a visit to

the Pasoh Open Day event at FRIMs Research Station

in Pasoh. Lots of activities have been planned, which

includes guided tours into the wonderful nature trails

and arboretums around the campus!

Transportation will be provided to and from the station,

as well as lunch and light refreshments. However, seats

are limited, so please indicate your interest in the visit

by letting us know on the registration form.

Pasoh Visit

Participants are recommended to stay at the nearby

Crystal Crown, as shuttle services will be provided from

the hotel to the symposium venue.

However, participants may also choose to stay at hotels
