Growth in Asian region is prominent among the world. Accordingly, it requires sufficient and stable energy supply to support the remarkable growth in the region. Nuclear energy has potential capabilities as a sustainable and abundant energy source. At the same time, the nuclear energy system needs to be safe enough to be accepted by public. Risk assessment and management is a key area for every stakeholder of civilian use of nuclear energy including researches, practitioners, regulators and general public. In October 2016, Asian community of Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) held a half a day meeting on promoting the collaboration on risk assessment and management after the PSAM13 in Seoul, South Korea. We have reached to agreement to establish a forum, named the Asian Symposium on Risk Assessment and Management (ASRAM). It was the first Asian symposium on PRA and risk management to provide opportunity to exchange information, present research results, review the state of the industry, discuss future directions, and foster friendship. After that, ASRAM2017, ASRAM2018 and ASRAM2019 have been successfully held in Japan, China and Korea, respectively. In November 2020, the Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ) is honored to organize the ASRAM 2020 with the Korean Nuclear Society and the Chinese Nuclear Society. Although the conference would be held by virtual online given the CoViD19 pandemic situation, we are sure that ASRAM 2020 would be the best place where every stakeholder of civilian use of nuclear energy including researchers, practitioners, regulators and general public gets together and discusses ideas.
