They are taught byinstructors that are experts in theirfields. There are a wide variety ofprograms that are offered to students tochoose from at CACC. CACC alsooffers college credits and professionalcertification opportunities. Leigh Annattended the AM session that was heldfrom 8:00am-11:00am. Students beganto arrive around 8:40am fromSpringfield High School, Lanphier HighSchool, Southeast High School andNorth Mac High School. There wereseveral other businesses/organizations inattendance and divided into separaterooms by program focus. She spent hertime explaining the broadcast industryand the type of employmentopportunities that exist. She alsodiscussed what some of therequirements- skills & experience forsome of the open jobs that the Companyis actively looking to hire for. LeighAnn reminded the students to keep anopen mind when looking into differentjob opportunities that exist. She thenanswered any questions that the studentshad.

The mission ofCompass for Kids is to provideacademic and social-emotional supportto empower at-risk children andfamilies. To this end, Compass for Kidshas an after-school program, a summerprogram, and a Backpack FeedingProgram to support at-risk children andyouth in Springfield School District 186in Springfield, Illinois.
Compass works on educating thechildren as whole persons, andrecognizes that social, emotional, andlife skills contribute to overall well-being and academic success.

He also demonstratedthe “magic weather wall” and how thecolor green is muted by the camera andhow the graphics and maps are able toappear behind him when on TV.
