Physical Education

Welcome to greatest course of your high school career!You must complete 2 semesters of Physical Education in high school in order to graduate. Courses are divided into PE I (first semester) and PE II (second semester).

Physical Education

In this course, participation will be the largest portion of your grade for each quarter consisting of 75% of your final score.

Skills Test will also be included. Skills Test will consist of any “fitness” type activity as well as end of unit skill (i.e. serving a volleyball, 11 steps to Archery Success etc…). 20% of final score each quarter will consist of skill testing.

Written Test will be worth 5% of your quarter score.

❖ Señora Robbins and Señorita O lead trips abroad every other year.

Requirements

A.) Complete all requirements for Core 40

B.) Earn 2 additional Core 40 math credits (i.e. Finite, Pre-Calculus)

C.) Earn 6-8 Core 40 world language credits

D.) Earn 2 Core 40 fine arts credits (i.e. Band, Choir, Intro to Art)

E.) Have grade point average of a “B” or better (3.0 by graduation)

F.) Earn a grade of a “C-” or better in courses that will count toward diploma

G.) Complete ONE of the following:● Earn 4 credits in 2 or more AP courses & take corresponding AP exams● Earn 6 verifiable transcripted college credits in dual credit courses from

priority course list● Earn two of the following

Project-Based Learning Experience: Option 1

Project-based learning allows students to gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging question, problem or challenge. Students often make their project work public by explaining, displaying, or presenting it to people beyond the classroom

Service-Based Learning Experience: Option 2

Service-based learning integrates meaningful service to enrich and apply academic knowledge, teach civic and personal responsibility and strengthen communities

experience❏ Engagement in a school-based activity, such as a

co-curricular or extracurricular activity or sport for at least one academic year

Work-based learning is a strategy to reinforce academic, technical, and social skills learned in the classroom through collaborative activities with employer partners

Students must complete at least ONE of the following:❏ Fulfill all requirements of either the Academic or Technical Honors Diploma❏ Earn minimum ACT score (18 English or 22 Reading & 22 Math or 23 Science)

❏ Earn minimum SAT score (480 EBRW, 530 Math)

❏ Earn minimum SFQT score on the ASVAB for placement into one of the branches of the US Military (31)

❏ Earn State- and Industry-recognized Credential or Certification (C4)❏ Fulfill Career-Technical Education Concentrator Requirements

❏ Must earn a C average in a career sequence

● Must be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen● Must be an Indiana resident as an applicant and scholarship recipient● Enrolled in the 7th or 8th grade at an Indiana Department of Education

recognized school● Fulfill Twenty-first Century Scholars Pledge● Meet eligibility requirements, including placement in foster care, or be

a member of a family at or below the 2020-2021 income maximums listed in the chart on the handout.
