Eclesiastes 2.11Quando avaliei tudo o que minhas mãos haviam feito e

o trabalho que eu tanto me esforçara para realizar,

percebi que tudo foi inútil, foi correr atrás do vento;

não há nenhum proveito no que se faz debaixo do sol.Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and

what I had toiled to achieve, everything was

meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was

gained under the sun.

Eclesiastes 2,20-21mas terá que deixar tudo o que possui como

herança para alguém que não se esforçou por

aquilo. Isso também é um absurdo e uma grande

injustiça. and then he must leave all he owns to someone

who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless

and a great misfortune.

increased in wisdom more than anyone who has

ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced

much of wisdom and knowledge."

Eclesiastes 1.16-18

Assim eu me esforcei para compreender a

sabedoria, bem como a loucura e a insensatez, mas

aprendi que isso também é correr atrás do vento.

Then I applied myself to the understanding of

wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I

learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.

Pois quanto maior a sabedoria maior o

sofrimento; e quanto maior o conhecimento,

maior o desgosto. For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the

more knowledge, the more grief.

a alegria. Descubra as coisas boas da vida! Mas

isso também se revelou inútil. Concluí que o rir é

loucura, e a alegria de nada vale. I thought in my heart, "Come now, I will test you

with pleasure to find out what is good." But that

also proved to be meaningless. "Laughter," I said,

"is foolish. And what does pleasure accomplish?"

Eclesiastes 2,1-11Decidi-me entregar ao vinho e à extravagância;

mantendo, porém, a mente orientada pela

sabedoria. Eu queria saber o que valesse a pena,

debaixo do céu, nos poucos dias da vida humana. I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing

folly--my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I

wanted to see what was worthwhile for men to do

under heaven during the few days of their lives.

Eclesiastes 2,1-11Lancei-me a grandes projetos: construí casas e

plantei vinhas para mim. Fiz jardins e pomares, e

neles plantei todo tipo de árvore frutífera. Construí

também reservatórios para regar os meus bosques

verdejantes. I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself

and planted vineyards. I made gardens and parks

and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them. 6 I

made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing

trees.

Eclesiastes 2,1-11Comprei escravos e escravas e tive escravos que

antes de mim em Jerusalém. I bought male and female slaves and had other

slaves who were born in my house. I also owned

more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem

before me. I amassed silver and gold for myself,

and the treasure of kings and provinces.

before me. In all this my wisdom stayed with me. I

Eu queria saber o que vale a pena, debaixo do céu,

nos poucos dias da vida humana.

What does man gain from all his labor at which he

toils under the sun?

Eclesiastes 1.14

Tenho visto tudo o que é feito debaixo do sol; tudo

é inútil, é correr atrás do vento!

I have seen all the things that are done under the

sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after

the wind.

Se as coisas não trás sentido na vida, talvez é porque o seu significado se

encontre por detrás das coisas. If things don’t bring their meaning,

maybe is because the meaning of life

is behind the things.

Eclesiastes 8.16-17aQuando voltei a mente para conhecer a sabedoria

e observar as atividades do homem sobre a terra,

daquele cujos olhos não veem sono nem de dia

nem de noite, então percebi tudo o que Deus tem

feito. When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to

observe man's labor on earth- his eyes not seeing

sleep day or night- then I saw all that God has done

Deus está trabalhando

continuamente mesmo quando não

enxergamos. God is working continuasly even

when we don’t see it

É com a ótica de Deus que devemos viver, interpretar e

explicar esse mundo. With God’s point of view we should

live, interpret, and explain this

world.

Colossenses 2.3

Em Cristo estão escondidos todos os tesouros da

sabedoria e do conhecimento

In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom

and knowledge.
