Why conduct a survey among all Nodes?
In the Interest of the MP:
we wanted to establish better knowledge among all MP Nodes
- of what other Nodes and also Node members are working on
- what is regarded as key future topics in the different regions they represent.
Our very personal Interest:
The idea also came up, because the members of the German Node felt like they would like to be in
closer contact with members from other nodes.
– Who do I call, if I need an expert opinion on XY in XY?

Preliminary Remarks on the Methodology
- 32 of 34 Nodes (at the time) participated in the survey
- Challenge: Survey Design very open => Answers hard to compare
- Solution: Discourse Analysis
=> Clustering of topics to make them comparable
=> Quantitative analysis of clusters

What are the key results of the survey?
Key result in a nutshell
• The current emphasize of work of the nodes lies in the fields of „Transfer & Education“, „Science &
Technology“ and “Environment & Resources“.
•A majority of the nodes consider cultural and social issues to be underestimated AND these are precicly the the topic least represented in the Nodes´ profiles.
„It is `peopleware` which is crucial to any sustainable shift in consciousness necessary to finding a new path for humanity“ (Cyberspace Node)

What else could be derived from the data?
- We did not yet analyse the question „International on Cooperation on Future Topics“ and „Favoured
International Future Topics“ – this could be used to
- Map existing and possible cooperations between nodes (idea: Social network á la facebook?
How can we make single people and their expertise more visible?)
- The data on could be visualised in an interactive map or another kind of nice Visualization
(mentioning more names & activities)
- We could use the date to update the profile of each Node on the website
