NEWSLETTER JUNE 2020 ISSUE It is indeed a time of immense change for us all and as such I can only reiterate all that Kerry has written. It has given us time to reflect, challenge, question and action everything to do with change in our professional and personal lives. It has caused some upheaval, as well as opportunities for all of us individually, but especially as a company and an industry. Conferences cancelled, professional events postponed, cancelled or changed to an online format, yet all the time allowing us to either move forward, adapt for the better, or at best, stay stagnant. With that in my mind, whilst delaying some product releases and slowing others, we are very excited about the future of many of our new product lines. Two of these are NuVis: Single Use HD Arthroscopes with built in LED lightsource, and a comprehensive new range of Titanium, PEEK and Bioabsorbable anchors. These are both new additions to our Sports Medicine division. The other exciting news is the formation of our Aesthetics division. This is as an expansion to our partnership with RegenLab, so please “Watch This Space” for more development and exciting news regarding this. These are just a small sample of what is coming. Along with Kerry, I am looking forward to sharing many other developments occurring within LMT over the next few months. Finally, these changes remind me of a quote by Sir Winston Churchill: “To improve is to change, to be perfect is to change often. We all have the opportunity to improve, lets strive for perfection!” - Jon Even though the world as we know it, both professionally and privately, has changed immensely over the last few months, at LMT, we remain business as usual. We have spent the last few months undertaking regular internal training, supplier training, and working through all avenues, to ensure all at LMT are constantly being upskilled. Whilst theatre cases have been significantly lower, this hasn’t stopped our normal activity with existing and new supplier meetings, looking at opportunities for the future. Across 3 of LMT’s divisions - Spine/ Neuro, Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, we have some very exciting products in the pipeline, and look forward to sharing these with you, in the very near future. Biologics and Regenerative Medicine have remained as a focus area for LMT, and in the last few months, LMT has also moved into Aesthetics, with the distribution of PRP. We look forward to the aesthetic clinics all opening again in the very near future. I hope you all stay well, and can navigate through the very different times we are seeing, which I believe will, to some extent, become our new normal. - Kerry 1300 880 155 (AU) 0800 222 770 (NZ) www.lmtsurgical.com [email protected] QUARTER IN REVIEW By Kerry Lawford & Jon Mills THIS NEWSLETTER IS PROUDLY CURATED BY OUR TEAMS

TRIMED WORKSHOPWITH DR ROB MEDOFF

On the 28th of February 2020 Rob Medoff convened a didactic and sawbone workshop with senior registrars, fellows and consultants from around the country. It was a comprehensive event with Dr Medoff focussing on tips and tricks throughout TriMed’s portfolio of products including distal radius, clavicle, ulna shortening, fusion cup and ankle fixation system. Dr Medoff took clinicians through complex cases, talking through his decision-making processes, discussing successes and challenges at various stages of both design and his case studies. He discussed the inception of his fragment specific plating system, design rationale and finally tips and tricks on many products within the TriMed portfolio. The weekend was hands-on with clinicians getting to put their theory into practice on site. Feedback from the weekend was that it was a great learning experience and Dr Medoff’s approachable nature and comprehensive expertise made it invaluable. For more information on similar events, please reach out ot your local rep, our Events page online, or follow us on social media.

The TriWay system provides excellent compression to an area that often can be difficult to fuse. It is a significant improvement upon early generations of fusion nails.”(Dr. James J. BIGGEST VIRTUAL MORNING TEAIn normal times, we would’ve been able to share an amazing spread of food from the boardroom with you from the World’s Biggest Morning Tea, however this year we had to improvise. With team members spread out across their homes, the LMT Social Committee brought everyone together over Zoom. From the comfort of home, car, or office space, we enjoyed a cuppa and a catch up, raising over $450 for the Cancer Council.

NEW PARTNERSHIPPRP TREATMENTS FOR MUSCULOSKELETAL & AESTHETIC THERAPY

As you may have seen on social media earlier this month, we have recently partnered with RegenLab to add to our Biologics, Sports & Regenerative Medicine division. We currently distribute RegenLab A-PRP, which provides the following features & benefits:

10mL blood sample per tube 5-6mL of PRP per tube >80% platelet recovery >99.7% red blood cell depletion 1.6x platelet concentration factor (native)

You could say that 2020 has thrown us a few learning curves! We managed to just make the APFSSH 2020 meeting and perhaps that will be the last opportunity many of us have to meet face to face for quite some time.

Kerry and Jon released a statement on our social media platforms in late March regarding our COVID-19 response; our strong position to see it through and our ongoing commitment to the medical community we serve. We also highlighted the importance of our people and the sense of community that often comes to light in difficult times.

We’ve seen some remarkable gestures of generosity and caring in the community, from simply checking in on each other to helping elderly neighbours. I think many of us will come out of this with a renewed sense of purpose and hope. The most memorable event for me during this time was ANZAC Day and seeing so many people out on their driveways at dawn, determined that this important day would not go unmarked.

Internally our team have rallied together, focused on making the best of a very challenging time (did I mention home school?!). Most impressively, has been the internal team effort to pull together an enormous amount of training and review of our territories. The LMT team has also rallied to assist with countless deliveries and worked together to find solutions around transport challenges, to ensure we get our products to you.

We have a number of online education events coming up, please see our events section for these.
