News & Events On Monday 1st March, the Manor Lakes College Debating Team had their first competition for the season. Our Year 9's completed the debate over Zoom, against Mary Mackillop Regional College. Despite having drawn the short straw with their topic, our three speakers; Swetha Nandakumar (9C), Frankee-Lee George (9C) and Pakhi Joshi (9C), worked tirelessly in the last week to effectively prepare their speeches and work as a team. Their dedication and their ability to take on feedback in the last week allowed them to achieve the first win for round one. The team will now have three weeks to prepare for round 2, on the 22nd of March. Well done, to all our participants. Well done also to our Intermediate Boys' Cricket Team for winning their round CRICKET WIN! Secondary Student Acknowledgments and News The Secondary Principal Team, Renee Liprino, Sam Watkins and Penny Owens, would like to send Shout-Outs to the following staff and students named in our newsletter. Students to the right have been nominated by subject teachers for excellent participation during Week 6. Year 7 · Jean-Marie Niyokwizera – excellent behaviour in the community · Bodhi Collins – consistently working hard · Hope Buttigieg - incredible resilience and great in class, always working super hard and showing lots of respect/kindness Year 8 · Rockline (Kiki) Coleman - aiming high and consistently seeking opportunities for extension and improvement. · Khyatisri Nimmaraju - aiming high and consistently seeking opportunities for extension and improvement. · Xerah Sarmiento - aiming high and consistently seeking opportunities for extension and improvement Year 9 · Jordan Knight - showing perseverance in completing his Sensory Analysis for Food Tech · Swehta Nandakumar - led the debating team and was very well prepared · Meghana Kakarla - excellent effort in revision for upcoming graded task · Scott Wilson - persisting with a very difficult realistic pencil drawing Year 10 · Sam Maw Roe - taking time out of his day to support younger students with their schoolwork · Imad Youssouf - completing all Psychology classwork to a high standard and always taking time to be helpful to his peers Year 11 · Kuol Mach - excellent effort in his attempt to understand all concepts in PE. · Abby Codling - trying really hard in English · Indiana Kumar - consistently applying herself to all tasks in Psychology · Kane Brooks - attending Study Hall after school every day to make sure he keeps up to date with his VSV work. Year 12 · Gabby Judd - for hard work and persistence in revising for HHD the SAC · Azaria Pasina - for showing perseverance in her Food Studies VCAL · Karaleigh Toner Dutton - using her initiative to assist staff, and being able to work in different environments with minimal supervision · Chloe Hyman - using her initiative to assist staff, and being able to work in different environments with minimal supervision · Sarah Machar - for research, editing and writing an excellent essay Manor Lakes Vs Mary Mackillop Regional College Debating Win! Take a look at Ms. Kierce's maths class, working on applying their problem solving skills - by playing Connect Four with integer multiplication; and Ms. Huculak's English class, taking on the characters for the play reading of MacBeth. Congratulations to Emmanuel Tuariki, for being named in the run on side, for the Melbourne Storm Thunder Bolts! What a huge achievement! And once step closer to being a Range Rover! Our Dance Clubs are currently getting ready to present in front of our Primary School students during Harmony Day. There may even be some interactive steps. Photos to come!
