Praise the Lord! God has been doing wonderful work through the

Morris Chapel people. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are equipped

and enabled to continue Christ’s ministry in our day (1st Corinthians 12:4-7). Jesus told his followers that we would do “even greater” works than

he was able to accomplish in three years on earth (John 14:12). What began with one man, God in the flesh, who called twelve followers,

Kingdom of God. The 555 followers of Jesus who worship, study, and serve at Morris Chapel are a part of continuing the work of Christ in our

day, in our community, and to all the places Holy Spirit compels us.

    PRAYER CHAIN

The Week of January 27, 2013

For those in need of Hope & Healing:

Mabel Dillon, Julia Tingen, Anna Lyons, Diane Teague, Steve Pegram,

Jim Wilson, Connie Youtz, Gary Zannotti, Lavonne & Family, Vicki

Vogler Richardson, Rylee Beasley, Jason Richardson, Maynard Surratt,

Pat Lumsden, Lester (Doc) Howard, Fred Owens, Phillip West, John

Nelson, Steve Harris, Alma Lee Amos, Peggy Lyons, Dot Peacock,

Spencer Evans, Ralph Long, JW Martin, Raymond Ollis, Myron Solis,

Jim Mecum, Coy Cunningham, Thomas Tamer, Barbara Schrader, Elmer

& Evelyn Bailey, Ashleigh Poe Essic, Kendra Martin, Daniel Allen,

Savanna Williams, Betty Anderson, Cindy Davis Swaim, Dale &

Deirdre Smith, Mela Banks, Steve Amos, Fred Crouse, Carrie

Smallwood, Louise Vogler, Pat Lacy, Walter Younts, Robah Watson,

Abbe McMichael, Ted Khuns, Norma Whitaker, Sylvia Stockton, Mary

Alice Campbell, Pat Butler, Phyllis Peddycord, Chris Logan, Stan

Harmon, Max Thompson, Sabrina, Raven & Sarah

This growth in ministry and missions has also been supported by a large step of faith in our financial offerings. The church’s official budget grew by

an 8% step of faith from 2012 to 2013. During the last year, $548,043 passed through our church’s bank account from your tithes and offerings to God’s

mission and ministry at and through Morris Chapel. For every $100, $42.40

provided for direct ministry of worship, discipleship, evangelism, and pas-toral care at Morris Chapel ($232,485). For every $100, $11.20 engaged the

community beyond the walls of the church building in local, national, and

international missions ($61,400). These ministries and missions were sup-ported by $33.90 of every $100 for administration and building operations, to

which we can also add another $12.40 for cost of our building improvements and debt retirement ($254,158). Amazingly, these figures are the tip of a

much larger mountain of Morris Chapel ministry and mission when you con-

sider all of the in-kind offerings of food, clothing, and toys as well as the

value of thousands of volunteer hours of given by you in service.

God is doing wonderful ministry through us at Morris Chapel. Thank

you for committing yourselves to following Jesus.

    With the love of Christ,

    Pastor Dan

    FOOD PANTRY

We are so blessed to have such wonderful facilities at Morris Chapel.

Our facilities are used often and for many various events. In order to

protect and maintain our facilities, please keep two reminders in mind:

1 - If you use a portion of the church for an event (FLC or FH), please

remember to lock the doors that you entered throughout AND the

surrounding doors in case others came in a different way.

2 - If either of the kitchen facilities were used at your event, please

remember to clean the kitchens thoroughly after each usage. We are

very blessed to have such nice kitchens as a part of our church. Let’s

all work together to keep them sparkling clean! THANKS in advance!!!!

We will learn as we journey together by Walking in Faith…

understand herself as a unique creation of her Heavenly Father

    survive life's hardest places

    Women’s Bible Study

This article highlights one of those “Good News/Bad News” events. The “Good

News” is we as a congregation came within $11,999 of meeting our Budget when we

were $40,000+ behind in early December. That is worth celebrating and a BIG thank

you for coming thru at the end of the year. However, there is some “Bad News” and

that is we did not receive Tithes and Offerings sufficient to cover what we actually

spent in 2013 and we had to dip into our reserve (Undesignated Funds) to the tune of

$4,054. This information is attached to this week’s Echoes (Financial Statement as of

December 31, 2013. We realize times are hard and some folks are having it difficult.

As was referenced earlier, our Tithes and Offerings came close to matching our

expenses and the reason we mention that is there is a distinct difference in Tithes and

Offerings. Tithes represents our 10% that God asked us to return and Offerings are

any gifts above 10%. If you are not currently tithing but let’s say you are giving 5%

and wish to move toward Tithing, consider increasing your give to 6% this year and

7% next year and so on until you reach your goal of Tithing. There are many needs

within our Church and Community that are addressed with our Tithes and Offerings

that are very visible on the enclosed Financial Report. So… there is reason for

Celebration and reason for us to dream as to how we at Morris Chapel can make a

difference in our community and world.

    ThankYou!
