Community Tree Lighting Service:
Sunday, December 1st, 7pm at Love’s UMC
(Band Prelude will begin at 6:30pm)
Chapel echoes November 25, 2013 / Issue 41 Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, Inc.
Praise the Lord! Our Heavenly Father bestowed on us a great gift in sending his one and
only Son, Jesus the Christ, into the world. This Christmas gift was to give us, may be better said to restore to us, the life God the Father intended for us in creation. Christ came into the world to
show us the Father and call us into a loving relationship with Him. We watch Jesus and learn from him how to love our God.
This coming Sunday we enter the Advent and Christmas seasons. There are numerous
offerings for you to experience the grace of God in the next month. I pray that during these moments you are drawn deeper in love with our Heaven Father.
United Methodist Missionary Kel Billings speaks in our worship services on December 1st about his work in Bethlehem, Palestine.
Community Christmas Tree Lighting and Advent Service at Love’s United Methodist
Church on December 1st at 7pm. The Oak Grove Moravian band will present a prelude concert at 6:30pm.
A bus trip to the Operation Christmas Child Distribution Center in Charlotte for sorting
and packing before those shoeboxes leave for the mission field.
Our sermon series for the Advent season is entitled “Journey to the Manger”. We will
explore the mental, emotional, and spiritual journeys made by Mary, Joseph, and the
shepherds upon the event of the Advent of the Christ child and discover the journey each of us is on.
Children’s Christmas Program and Play “A Night in Bethlehem” during the Sunday School
hour (10am) on December 8th in the Family Life Center.
Our Gifts of Grace Christmas Shopping outreach will be December 13th (2-7pm) & 14th
(8am-2pm). We share the love of God with our neighbors by assisting them with their physical needs this season.
Our Music Ministry’s “Sing and Celebrate Christmas” will be Sunday evening December 15
at 7pm. It will be an evening of Christmas music, including favorite hymns and choral music involving children, youth, and adults, including the presentation of “Bethlehem
Morning”, a choral cantata celebrating not only the birth, but the ministry and purpose of Jesus’ life.
Christmas Eve Worship Experiences
3pm - *NEW* interactive family worship service to see and hear the Christmas story
come to life. The nativity scene is constructed during the service. As the service progresses with the readings and music, the various elements of the scenes are added
until the entire nativity is complete. ALL ages are welcome! Communion will be served. Come and experience God’s gift to us!
7pm - Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service
In addition to these wonderful opportunities, there are class parties, a UMW dinner, Christmas caroling with the Men’s Chorus, a Youth lock-in and Christmas Caroling. I hope you take several
opportunities to celebrate your faith, grow in your love, and express your faith as you serve our neighbors.
Have a happy Advent and a mighty Christmas,
Pastor Dan Lyons

why we are receiving names and
what process are we doing this
year for the Gifts of Grace event.
This year we are receiving names
from the school, food pantry, and
members of Morris Chapel. We
will have appointments for each
family in to hopes of cutting wait
times down. We have around 90

It is time to sign up for Dec 12-14.

disease.
Immediately following the presentation, the New Beginnings and Branches of the Vine classes will
provide a spaghetti lunch. Lunch will be served following the Assembly and following the 11AM
