Welcome to the Morgan Street Public School P&C Execuve Deana, and thanks to the returning officers for standing again in 2015. We also thank Jane Kuerschner for her work in her me as Treasurer. She will be missed at our meengs for both her great humour and excellent record keeping of our financial situaon. Our parent body provide important support to our students and staff and hold a number of funcons where many parents turn up to help even if meengs are not possible. We meet monthly on a Monday evening at 7pm in the staff common room. All parents should feel welcome as new ideas and thinking ensure our school remain a strong, safe place for our students. Have you got your Easter Hat? I am looking forward to my first Easter Hat Parade and Assembly on Thursday at 11.30am. Just a reminder that if parents decide to take their children home after the picnic lunch, please let their teachers know before you go. Parents have asked for electronic communications - our response has been to implement App and email based communication using SCHOOLSTREAM as an email list that we are adding to as we get information. Last week about 65% of parents received their NEWSLETTER in this manner. After the holidays we will do a collection of the parents/classes we may have missed, and so far we have had a lot of positive feedback. Our aim will be to cut back on the paper newsletters, as there are benefits in time taken up in the office and delivery by some students “pony express” can also be a problem. Absence Notes Don’t forget if your child is absent from school, you will need to write a note within seven days. It must explain why your child missed school and how many days your child was absent. Remember to include the date. If your child is going to be away for more than three days please let us know. Reading to children at home Children learn about the value and importance of reading as they watch their family read and write in everyday life. Here are a few simple things you can do at home to make reading fun. Listen to your child read every day, even if only for a short time. Discuss the meanings of stories and words. Talk about books together and make reading a shared, enjoyable activity. See that there is a range of reading material, both fiction and non-fiction, for your child at home. Try not to let television intrude on reading time – set aside some uninterrupted time to read with your child. PE LESSONS - SWIMMING A big thank you to the parents who have volunteered to help with the swimming lessons each week. We really appreciate your assistance. We hope more parents are available when we resume our lessons in Term 4. EASTER EGG RAFFLE The SRC will be selling tickets for the raffle and the guessing competition each morning this week before school in both the K-2 and 3-6 playground.

Every Tuesday in 1K we write about our choices. We choose our favourite things and

write about why we like them the most. Here are some of our responses. One thing we

all agree on is that ‘Choose one on Tuesdays’ is lots of fun!

I like cows the best

because they give us

milk. Ben

I like football the best because

I like medals and trophies. You

can kick the ball and tackle. I

want to be on a good team if I

am going to play. Archie

I like dogs the best because

you can pat them and play

with them. Playing with them

is lots of fun. Abinav

I like ice-cream the best

because you can eat it

on hot days. You can

have it in a bowl or a

cone. My favourite is

pink. Sophie

I like Maccas the best

because they have

healthy wraps. Harry

I like ice-cream the best

because you can get it

out of a cone. It makes

you cool down on sunny

days. Max

I like pigs the best because

they are cute and because

they get up to mischief.

Reuben

I like KFC the most

because lots of people

go there. Rhett

I like cats the best

because they catch

mice. Macey

I like cats the best

because they are cute

and cuddly like teddies.

They can get a mouse

and they can follow it.

They jump on you. Emilie

I like ice-cream the best

because you can eat it in a

cone. When I am good, I

get to have an ice-cream.

My brother likes it too. Zak

I like cows the best

because they moo in the

morning and gives us

milk. Tarney

I like ballet because you

can dance on stage and

perform dances. Emmy

I like ballet the best

because you get to be

famous on the stage

and you get to dance.

Elektra

I like cake the best

because your cake can be

any shape or flavour.

Cake is the best. Sam

I like McDonalds the best

because they have frozen

cokes and burgers. Imogen

I like cake the best

because your cake can

be any shape or colour.

It can have toppings and

sprinkles. Thomas

I like ballet the best because

you get to do a dance. You

get to wear tap shoes and it

is fun. Next year I’m going

to do ballet. Sienna

I like ballet the best because

they have beautiful music and

it is so much fun. You get to

perform a show at the

entertainment centre. Molly

I like KFC the best

because they have

popcorn chicken. It is

nice. Dakota

I like ice-cream the best

because you can get

different flavours.

Belladonna

I like football

because the ball can

go up in the air.

PROUD ASSEMBLY WEEK ONE TERM TWO

It is hard to believe that it is the end of the first

term already. However, it is also good to

reflect back and celebrate the way students

have settled into the new school year, and are

showing they are PROUD through their

actions, words and attitude. PBL is a journey,

and we have been revisiting our PROUD rules

this term to make sure every student from

kindergarten to year six know what it means to

be PROUD. The best thing about these lessons

is that they are lessons for life. We are learning

valuable life skills every day when we

remember to be PROUD. The first PROUD

assembly will be in Week One Term Two. We

work towards our PROUD awards so if you

miss out, remember to keep at it!

Keep up the great work Morgies!

COMMUNITY NEWS

PURPLE DAY

Last Thursday, our S.R.C had their first fundraiser.

We raised money and donated it to ‘Epilepsy

Action’ to help raise awareness and assist in research developments. Our day started with the whole school

on the oval releasing purple balloons, which

represented our wish for a cure. Students looked

fantastic in their purple clothing too. We raised

$436.85. Well done Morgies!

From the Pool

Students from 5/4G and 6M participating in their swimming

lessons. Students were involved in a variety of water activities

ranging from water confidence games to basic life saving skills.
