IMPORTANT
We are looking at forming classes and organising our staffing for 2016. If your child will not be attending Morgan Street School next year, could you please contact the
school.
(Excluding Year 6)
The first of our year 5 students today presented their speeches in their quest to
gain the role of School Captain. More will follow this week until voting across
the school happens on Thursday. Student leadership is a wonderful thing in
primary schools and often leads to further involvement in secondary SRCs.
Students need to be reminded that at the end of the day, only 2 Captains and 2
Vice Captains are elected out of all the nominees. Students learn a lot from
the process and if not elected, then supporting the new Captains in other
leadership roles in the school. After the voting is completed there are only
four leaders elected. Good sportsmanship is as much a part of Captains
elections as it is on the sporting field as not everyone can win. Good luck to all.
If todays speeches reflect the quality of our potential student leaders then 2016
will be a great year for student leadership.
Parents should take note that we have had a reported, as yet unconfirmed
Whooping Cough case at the school. Until tests confirm the case, Doctors will
treat it as they usually do with antibiotics. For further information the local
public health unit can be contacted by phone on 1300 066 055 or use the
following web link to

3C COOK-STARS!
Something very exciting happened in our
learning recently. We baked some delicious
apple and cinnamon muffins in the canteen!
Cooking is so much fun, and eating the
results is even better. We were so proud of
our muffins and we used our very best group
work skills to get the job done.
A recipe is also called a procedural text. We
wrote out the recipe in class and this is what
we used to bake our yummy treats. So we
had a special literacy lesson while baking.
Two things at once!
Thank you Marni for coming in on your day
off - and sharing your new oven.
And thank you also to our parent helpers on
the day! You are all Cook-Stars too!
Magnificent muffins in 3C!

“Proud Morgies learning together”
PROUD PLAYGROUNDS
What a great couple of weeks the 3-6 students
have had in the playground. There have been only
two minor incidents recorded in the Playground
Book since the end of Week 7. What champions
you are. There is only two and a half weeks to go
- let’s see if we can be incident free.
Keep playing safely and sensibly
“Proud Morgies learning together” Respecting others and Property
What would our school be like if there was
nothing to play with in the playground? Much of
the equipment supplied for students to use in the
playground has been purchased by our SRC. Our
lovely new soccer goals for the 3 - 6 students is
the latest purchase. It is up to all students to look
after the equipment by playing with it sensibly,
sharing it with others and packing it up carefully
when finished.
Great to see some of our younger students
making the most of the toys they have to play with
at lunch time. What a great castle.
Keep up the great work Morgies!
