Help AAHMES Membership Grow and Prosper!HAVE ANY OF US THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO OUR SHRINE’S FUTURE IF WE CONTINUE TO LOSE MEMBERS? HAVE WE ALL DONE SOMETHING TO IMPROVE OUR MEETINGS AND ASK NEW MEMBERS TO JOIN US? YOU SHOULD BE THINKING ABOUT THIS NOW!Your Membership team and its goals are being improved in 2016. New team members are being asked to join with you in all our efforts to improve and make AAHMES Temple membership improve and grow each year.At the current time Potentate Kay Dunn, Chief Rabban Jay Williams, Asst. Rabban Don Markert and Recorder Wayne Green are preparing new goals and objectives for this year and those will include items of Recruitment and Mentoring, Leadership, Retention and Restoration in the program. Watch this newsletter and attend meetings and you will be able to participate with us in this program. All of us were asked to join this great organization for Fraternity and Hospital Support and willingly and gladly did so. Now I ask each and every one of you to ask some other Masonic Brother or potential member to join us and experience with us the work of this great organization. Also, if you are willing to assist on any of our 4 membership groups, please contact Don or Wayne and join us now! Thanks to you all, Don Markert

Page 5Greetings to all Nobles and Ladies of Aahmes,It’s hard to believe we are already approaching the middle of the year. In early May, Jay Williams and I, along with our ladies, attended the Western Shrine Association Conference in Las Vegas. We met Imperial Sir Jerry Gantt and Imperial First Lady Lisa Gantt and had a pleasant dinner with them and our counterparts on Friday evening. The entire day Saturday the Nobles spent in a working session (including lunch) devoted to membership

conducted by Imperial Sir Ed Stolze. Membership is the primary focus of Imperial and as a Temple we must strive to increase and retain membership. Many activities are scheduled for summer. The Livermore Rodeo Parade June 11 will be followed by lunch and a Ceremonial at the Aahmes Shrine Center. The next day the Contra Costa Shrine Club O/V will be held at the Crow Canyon Country Club. June 15 we will have our stated meeting with a special guest so be sure to be in attendance. Ladies are welcome to attend the dinner before the meeting starts. Don’t forget the Ladies Luncheon on June 18. Nobles are welcome to attend to show appreciation for all of the Aahmes ladies. Additionally, this event is a fundraiser for the First Lady’s project. In July your representatives will attend the Imperial Sessions in Tampa Florida. Upon returning home we will attend a Redwood Shrine Club dinner Friday, July 15, the Fortuna Parade Saturday and an O/V at Jim Widdoes’ home. In August we’ll attend the Yacht Club O/V which is always such a great event on the water. Please remember to support your Blue Lodges as well as our clubs and units. We have many events coming up this summer and I hope to see you in attendance. We all need to support each other to survive. Thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve you so far this year at our functions. Have a great and safe summer. Yours in the Faith, Kay C. Dunn

RECORDER’S NOTEBOOK

Well Nobles, we have made it to the half year mark and we are getting ready for summer and warmer weather. Hope everybody had a great first part of the year. I know our Potentate has been very busy working on different projects with Imperial and our Temple and will be going to Imperial with our officers for Imperial session, and upon their return, they will give us a report at the next stated meeting.Remember to look at your DUES CARD and if it does not say 2016 then you need to pay your dues to be current, and not be on the suspension list. As of today we have 105 members who have not paid their dues. Yours in Faith, Wayne Green/Recorder

CLUB CHATTER

MOTHER LODEGreetings from the Mother Lode! At our last meeting of the Mother Lode Shrine Club we decided to try to keep our club operating as long as possible, even with a shortage of Nobles in our area to help with our events. The Mother Lode Roundup parade and BBQ were a success, even though we had to cancel our Steak Dinner due to a lack of interest. A little more support couldn’t hurt! Our old 1931 clown car only stalled once during the parade but was started along the way again thanks to a timely push by parade bystanders. Our next outing for the Clowns will be participating in the Lumber Jubilee Parade in downtown Tuolumne City on June 5th, a short but very popular parade in the Mother Lode. We will also be participating in the 4th of July parade in Modesto. Note: anyone wishing to be placed on our mailing list or who wants to become a member of our club can contact me for info.Bob Snodgrass, Sec’y. [email protected].

Time again to write a message for Aahmes. The Modesto

Shrine Club had to cancel the Fizz and Mary Breakfast due to lack of Reservations. Nobles, you cannot make reservations the day before the event. We have to confirm Hall rental, buy supplies and food and this cannot be done the day before, so Please make your reservation at least five (5) days ahead of time. Which brings us to our Margarita Bash on the third of July. The deadline for reservations for this function is JUNE 29th. So Please call ROCKY at 614-4886 or JAKE at 524-1724. If no one answers leave a message. Our stated meeting in June is on the 12th. This is an open board meeting and we have dinner before the meeting. So join us and call Rocky or Jake to let us know that you are coming. Please call before June 7th. Support your Shrine club and the other clubs, together we can make a difference. Jake Van Holland, MSC President

As we approach mid-year I would like to reflect on our accomplishments for the past as well as set some goals for the near future. In January & February, we held our monthly meetings and had a fair turnout as we focused on membership renewal and new memberships. In March we went on the Snow Train and all who went had a great time. In April we sponsored food and drink for all the folks who participated in the Oakdale Rodeo Parade and turned over around $60.00 in donations to the Rainbow Assembly 128. Again I think this was a great event. In May we co-sponsored the Car Show with the Nomads Car Club held at the Modesto Masonic Event Center and we had about 67 entries and lots of donated prizes for the Opportunity drawings. When all was said and done I am proud to announce that both the Nomads Car Club and the Oakdale Shrine Club will be sending $1,629.00 each to support the Children of the Shriners Hospital of No. California. As we all know this would not have been possible without the help, planning, and dedication of all involved. Again I would like to thank Jeff Zaya, Bob & Nancy Huntley, Terry & Roberta Erlandson, Sam & Donna Comstock, Roger & Debbie Frazer, Marcie Colvard, Jerry Burciago, Chuck & Darlene Cross, Rob & Karen Bennet, Jackie Headley, James & Miles Dean, Ted & Luanne Melden, Cutco Cuttery Thompson Chevrolet, The Rainbow Assembly 128, and all Vendors. Now looking into the future I am asking for your support in planning the Potentates O/V, a Stagg Night, and a Rainbow/Eastern Star Appreciation Pic-Nic in the Park. These will all be good Fun events. I am very excited about the Pote’s and First Lady’s projects. The First Lady’s (Peggy) project is to provide funding for a Burn Garment for the Children of the Shriners Hospital of No. California. This will be a very important project and a great addition for the Hospital. The Pote’s project is to provide funding for the Aahmes Temple maintenance budget which is in need of as much help as we can get. The Stagg Night will be a great time to get together for fun and friendship as well as make a few bucks for the kids. The Rainbow/Eastern Star Pic-Nic in the Park will be a good time to show our appreciation for both units and a great time to get acquainted with some people we may not have had the opportunity to meet up close and personal. Thank You for your continued support, Joe Colvard, PresidentOakdale Shrine Club (209) 247-7068

On April 30th Redwood Shrine Club participated in Eureka’s Rhody parade. We had a great turnout of joker clowns, mini cars and Pismo’s “hospital display trailer” ridden by many Masonic related members. Following the parade we held a Cold Sands induction ceremony for three new nobles of Aahmes Shrine. May 7th was our annual screening clinic at St. Joseph Hospital Pain Center in Eureka. Turnout was encouraging and one patient was referred to the hospital for treatment. June, July and August are filled with parades; the following are the dates and locations, starting with the Azalea Parade, McKinleyville, June 4th, then the Fourth of July Parade in Ferndale, July 4th, Fortuna Rodeo Parade, July 16th, which will be the Potentate’s official visit, Cold Sands and BBQ hosted by Jim Widdoes and Lady Elaine. This is always a highlight of the year which includes attendance by hospital patients and their families. It brings tears to your eyes to see what is accomplished at Shrine Hospitals for Children. There will also be a Divan Dinner on Friday July 15th at the VI Restaurant in Ferndale, prior to the Fortuna Parade on Saturday, everyone is welcome, (The address is: 400 Ocean Avenue, Ferndale), No Host Cocktails at 6:00, Dinner at 7:00. The final parade for the Humboldt County area will be the Wildwood Days Parade in Rio Dell, July 30th.The Father’s Day Dinner at the Moose Lodge has been moved from June 18th to June 25th. Well, gentlemen, our 2015 fiscal year is over and I am extremely proud to let you know what Nefru Ari Temple contributed to our Nile Foundation for the year.I started our own year-end newsletter with the following: “I feel like singing – “What a year this has been!” I’m in a “happy” mood. As usual, not a rare one, as I put together our numbers for 2015.” I feel even more that way as I look again at our accomplishments. We have two funds that are overseen by our Supreme Temple Foundation Board of Directors: (1) The Convalescent Endowment Fund (CEF) which generates interest (of course) which is then transferred to (2) The Convalescent Relief Account (CRA) which is used to fulfill requests from the various hospitals annually. A total of $15,035 went directly to the Foundation through the Temple, and that included $2,553.00 for the special annual Holiday Giving to CRA.AND…We made several personal donations directly to the Foundation which included: Stepping Stones to Happiness, payments on previous pledges, a silent auction basket at Supreme Session, and other items for an additional amount of $1,070, giving us a grand total of Drum roll please...: $ 16,105.00 for the year ending 3/31/16. In addition to the actual funds donated, we also donated a total value of $7,236.53 in items including Box Tops for Education, pre-op dolls, blankets, gift cards, pull tabs, school supplies and hundreds of other items for the kids.So for 2015 this gives us a grand total of $ 23,341.53 ! ! Talk about a drum roll! Enough for this month! There will be more – including some “save the date” information I hope.Nile love and mine, Paula Ketels
