Well we had our first Parade of the year on March 12th. A “BIG THANKS” to all Units & Clubs that participated and to

the Purveyors for fixing the food. Now we are heading into warmer weather and our next Parade will be in Oakdale and we will have Imperial Sir Ed Stolze riding in the Parade this year with our Potentate. Then, on to Sonora for their O/V on May 6th and the Parade on May 7th. Also, Imperial Sir Ed Stolze will be at our June Ceremonial. This is quite an honor for Aahmes, to have Imperial Sir at these events. Yours in Faith, Wayne Green

I would like to thank all the Nobles and Ladies who planned and attended the Official Visits thus far this year. The responses have been gratifying and the generous donations to the Potentate’s and First Lady’s projects have been greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to attending other Official Visits during this spring and summer. The Reno Sierra Scenic train with a Speakeasy murder

mystery the first week of March was very well attended with a good contingency from Acacia Creek. The vintage train cars were wonderfully appointed; the piano car, the dancing car and even the smoking car were a real treat to visit. Many in our group came very close to identifying the culprit in the murder mystery saga. We stayed at the El Dorado Hotel and Casino in Reno where the party continued. Even if you aren’t a gambler, Reno offers other amusement such as museums and shows. Everyone had a great time and we’re already planning to go again next year. I am pleased and honored to announce that Imperial Sir Ed Stolze, Imperial Outer Guard for Shriners International, visited our Temple April 6th through 10th. He participated in the Oakdale Parade and returned to the Shriner Event Center for an evening with Elvis. The primary topics we discussed on his visit were membership and Temple Stewardship. Thank you for giving Imperial Sir Stolze a gracious welcome and making him feel at home at Aahmes. Please read your Aahmes News for upcoming events. Don’t forget to make your reservations early for the First Lady’s Luncheon on June 18th. I understand the ladies are planning a gala event and intend to have a great time. Please review the letter sent to Aahmes Shriners from the Hospital Director of Development, Alan Anderson, with a special thank you card from our kids. Congratulations Nobles, Ladies and friends for your great support of Northern California Shriners Hospital for Children. Be proud to be a Shriner. Let’s have a great spring and get ready for a wonderful summer. Yours in the Faith, Kay

RECORDER’S NOTEBOOK

I put this in the Aahmes news in 2011 and I thought it was a good time to bring it back. Masonic labor is purely a labor of love. He who seeks to draw Masonic wages in gold and silver will be disappointed. The wages of a Mason are earned and paid in their dealings with one another:

Sympathy that begets Sympathy, Kindness begets Kindness, and Helpfulness begets Helpfulness, and these are the wages of a Mason.

“And I would also add:Forgiveness begets Forgiveness. “

“FOOD FOR THOUGHT“It is not what we eat, but what we digest, that makes us strong. It is not what we earn, but what we save, that makes us rich.It is not what read, but what we remember, that makes us learned. It is not what we profess, but what we practice, that makes us Shriners & Masons.

Yours in Faith, Wayne Green

NEWS FROM THE UNITS

PATROL

The Patrol got the parade season off with a great start. We led the units in the Dublin Parade. The weather looked bad, but the rain held off. This was my first parade as Captain calling the commands. Thanks to Past Captain, Dennis Fuller, for the help. The Patrol meets on the second Thursday of each month, usually at the Shrine Center. Besides our upcoming parades, we will be doing our annual BBQ sometime in July. The Patrol leads the way!Tom Slivinski, Captain

Another year of the Reno Snow Train has come and gone and all involved had a great time. Elvis was a big hit and I highly recommend the Reno National Automobile Museum. Now it’s back to work getting ready for the Oakdale Rodeo Parade April 9th. We will be serving Hot Dogs, Chips, and Bottled water at the Bus Yard on F St. after the parade. I would like to thank Jim Dean, Chuck and Darlene Cross, and Rob and Karen Bennett for their donations. The next event will be the Shriner Nomads Car Club/Oakdale Shrine Club Car Show to be held May 14th at the Modesto Masonic Event Center on Rose Ave in Modesto. We are still looking for volunteers to work on the crews which are: Parking Cars, Selling Raffle Tickets, Set-Up, Tear-Down, and Clean-Up. If you can work on any of these crews please contact Jeff Zaya (209) 505-0654, Bob Huntley (209) 988-6052, or Joe Colvard (209) 247-7068 so we can get you assigned to a crew. We are still looking for an opportunity to hold our O/V. There are some possibilities of combining our O/V. with Oak Summit Masonic Lodge 112 Gold Panning event or holding a separate O/V in a park with a BBQ. This will be discussed at or next meeting to be held April 5th at Mountain Mikes Pizza Oakdale. I am still looking at an Eastern Star/Rainbow Appreciation BBQ later in the fall when things cool down a bit. We still have several members who have not paid their 2016 dues. If you have not paid your dues please do so as soon as you can. Membership is our main strength. If you know of any Master Masons who are not a Shriner, talk to them and offer them a hand of brotherhood. Also, explain to them that our main purpose of being a Shriner is to support the Shriners Hospitals for Children and that all proceeds we generate go to the Children of the Shriners Hospitals.

Best Regards, Joe Colvard President Oakdale Shrine Club (209) 247-7068

The Members of Modesto Shrine club want to thank all of you who supported our Fizz and Mary Breakfast. Now we are getting ready for our Yearly Margarita Bash on the 3rd of July. This is always a super event which you do not want to miss, so mark your calendars for this one. The Modesto Shrine Club has made several donations that were requested by the Hospital and will continue to make donations when possible. The First Lady’s Project is a very good one, and we urge all the Shrine clubs to help out as much as possible. The Hospital needs this piece of equipment very badly for the Kids. Have a good summer and stay healthy. Jake Van Holland Modesto Shrine Club President

The best kept secret in the yachting community and Shrine itself is the Tri-Shrine Yacht Club (TSYC). In fact it is not even a club. It has no members, no officers, no dues, or no protocol. But, It is one of the most active group of Shriner’s in Northern California. The participants of the TSYC are members from the Aahmes, Ben-Ali, and San Francisco Shrine (Asyia) Yacht Clubs. They meet on the last Wednesday of each month at Oakland Yacht Club and tour a local marine facility or the Bay on various types of boats. Most recently we

spent the day aboard the John A Dillard. The Dillard is the Army Corp of Engineers Command and Control Vessel for San Francisco Bay. We were on-board for a typical workday patrolling the Bay removing large debris with an on-board crane. See photos of the Tri-Shrine group with the crew of the Dillard and the crane operator removing a large log from the Bay.Future planned events for 2016 are the best seats on the committee boat for Opening Day

on SF Bay, a tour and lunch at the USCG Culinary school in Petaluma, a tour and lunch aboard the USS Potomac (President Roosevelt’s Floating White House), a day on Angel Island, Aahmes Shrine YC annual BBQ @ Driftwood Marina, beer can races on a racing yacht and BBQ at the Santa Cruz Yacht Club, volunteer to support the Wheelchair Regatta to honor all veterans, and finally the Lighted Boat Parade in the Alameda Estuary and dinner @ Oakland Yacht Club. The TSYC activities are considered extensions of the activities of the three Shrine yacht clubs in the area. Any member or friends of members of those clubs are free to join us. We don’t turn anyone away! All Nobles of the three local temples are encouraged to join their respective yacht clubs. You don’t need to have a boat, just an interest in the sea faring culture.Even though the TSYC does not officially exists (no bylaws, officers, roster, dues or protocol), the International Association of Shrine Yacht Clubs (IASYC) recognizes TSYC as bringing the three local Shrine yacht clubs together and forming a group of Shriner’s sharing a common interest in boating. TSYC attended the Rose Parade in January and worked on the Shriner’s Float. Attended the Winter Meeting of IASYC in New Orleans in February, and will be at Imperial in Tampa in July! As stated before, we’re not a club and have no membership roster, but we do have an email list that is used to announce our coming events. If you would like to be on this list just email Doug Hipsley at [email protected] Winds!

On February 28th, Noble Merle Doggett received his 50 year Masonic pin at Six Rivers Lodge in Arcata. The presentation ceremony was well attended by his fellow nobles and ladies. Congratulations to Merle and Lady Dorothy on this Masonic milestone. March 12th was our annual St. Patricks Day dinner at Eureka Moose Lodge with lots of corn beef and cabbage for everyone. Following dinner, the attendees were entertained by local cobbler dancers. April 3rd will be our president’s house party hosted by Noble Gene Schnell and Lady LeAna. Next we will be participating at Eureka’s rhody parade on April 30th. This is the first parade for our club and is always a highlight of the year. The next big event will be our annual screening clinic at St. Josephs Hospital Pain Center on Saturday May 7th. We’re looking forward to more events in the months ahead. Ken Spaulding, President

Well, I’m back again! You can’t get rid of me. I had something all ready to send, and realized it would be stale and worthless. So……….. I waited a

day or so and found something important enough that it will be my first item in this issue. (Yes, I know many of you have seen it, but………here it is for the rest of you anyway.)If any of you have seen the Shrine Hospital commercials on TV, you know who Alec is – the boy with the Shrine bear blanket. One of our Nile ladies received word from one of her counterparts that he fell out of his chair and broke an arm and leg. They are requesting a shower of cards. Please join us in sending him get well wishes. Cards may be sent to:

During March, our new Queen Barbara Walsh installed the new officers of all of our clubs and units and she, herself, was installed amid lots of crowns, hot pink, leopard print, and bling. It was a beautiful day, and your own Don Markert represented you well. Thank you, Noble, Don, it was great to have you with us.In April, our first Stated Session fell on April 1. Later in the month, we had a clothing exchange, boutique and dinner to start our fund raisers for the year.We have a pretty good sized contingent going to Indianapolis for our Supreme Session the middle of June, and when we come home, I’m sure I will have lots more to tell you about.

Meantime May the road rise up to meet you;May the rains fall gently on your fields;May the wind be always at your back;

May the sun shine warm upon your face; And, until we meet again,

May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
