■ More than half of all 18 year olds living inVictoria are covered by RACV’s free2go mo-toring assistance program, which is now cel-ebrating its fifth year.
RACV’s free2go program provides youngdrivers with free emergency roadside assistanceat a time when they have the least experienceon the road. It also provides parents with peaceof mind, knowing that help is just a phone callaway for their young driver in case of an emer-gency.
RACV General Manager Motoring and Mo-bility, Gordon Oakley, said free2go has contin-ued to grow since its launch in 2007, with ap-proximately 118,000 young Victorians currentlyparticipating in the program.
“RACV’s free2go is available to all Victori-ans aged 18 to 20 years, as well as year 12students,” Mr Oakley said.
“Starting out as a motorist isn’t always cheap, with expenses in obtaining a licence, buying acar and paying for registration fees and fuel, sofree2go helps often cash-strapped young driv-ers with peace of mind.
“Year 12 students and 18 year olds who jointhe free2go program receive free emergencyroadside assistance that they can use for any
car they drive or are a passenger in.“In addition, young drivers aged 19 and 20
years who sign up for free2go receive emer-gency roadside assistance for half price on anominated vehicle.”
All free2go participants become RACV mem-bers and receive the extensive benefits on offerto members, including discounts across RACV‘sdiverse range of products and services.
“This highly successful program is yet an-other way in which provides benefits to itsmembers.
“Young drivers need trusted support whenstarting out on our roads and in addition to road-side assistance, they can access professionaladvice about obtaining a licence and buying avehicle,” Mr Oakley said.
RACV’s free2go team provide informationabout the program at many events includinguniversity and TAFE orientation weeks, careerexpos and young driver information evenings.
In 2011, the team attended more than 200schools and events in metropolitan and regionalVictoria.
For more information about RACV’s free2goprogram, call 13 72 28 or visit free2go.racv.com.au.
