Meher Bokhari might just be the youngest journalist in Pakistan to have

made her mark and created ripples in national media in the shortest span of

time. In a brief span of four years, Meher has reported, hosted, and

produced from both within and outside Pakistan. Bokhari started her career

hosting and producing a show covering a diverse range of the most pressing

issues facing Pakistani society today, with special attention to intersections

among gender, race, ethnicity, class, economic exploitation, age, and other

forces of oppression. Nai Rahain one of Pakistans flagship, social issues

show positioned Bokhari for more challenging journalistic endeavors. After

the first year, she launched another leading show simultaneously called

Mulaqatein' in which Bokhari conducted one-on-one interviews with the leading personalities of Pakistan.

Meher has been regularly reporting from sensitive and restricted areas within Pakistan e.g. insurgency-hit

zones in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, fragile Azad Jammu & Kashmir, earthquake affected zones in

Balochistan, sectarian violence ridden South Punjab etc. She was the first person in the world to draw

attention to and release the video of the public flogging of a young girl by the Taliban; a daring initiative

which not only shook both national and international communities, but served to change both

perspectives and national policy visa vis terrorism. After the first two years, Bokhari made a transition into

evening prime time, hosting and producing one of Pakistans leading current affairs shows, News Beat onSamaa Tv. She is the recipient for Samaa Television Star Performance of the Year Award for journalistic

excellence in covering Lahore floods and civic responsibility, as well as Samaa Televison Best

Anchor/Producer Award. Bokhari is currently hosting and producing Dunya Tvs flagship news show,

Cross Fire. Cross Fire is a daily live current affairs program in which Bokhari analyses the leading

headlines of the day through interviewing both stakeholders and opinion makers both within and outside

Pakistan. She has given presentations on Innovation Journalism at Stanford University and continues to

speak to aspiring media practitioners in local universities. Having swam for Pakistans National Swimming

Team and as Captain of the Provincial Punjab swimming team, Meher Bokhari, who hails from Lahore,

did a double major in Mathematics and Business and minored in Economics from University of Waterloo,

Canada. Bokhari writes frequently for various newspapers. She is known for her penetrating and hard-

hitting questions which, when coupled with her sensitivity and understanding of the social ills plaguing

Pakistan, become a testimony to her dynamic personality.
