75th Anniversary Prayer of Diocese of Evansville
Almighty, ever-living God, in your goodness, you sent your only
Son to bring salvation to all people through your Church.
For seventy-five years, your sons and daughters in the Diocese of
Evansville have strived to live as a community of faith, hope and
charity, rooted in Christ.
Pour forth your Holy Spirit on this local Church, that we may
continue the saving work of Jesus Christ through Word,
Sacrament, and Service.
May everything we do, both now and in the years to come, be for
your glory and for the sanctification of all.
We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, who is Lord
yesterday, today and forever. Amen

St. Mary Parish would like to welcome:
Robert and Lisa Masters who have joined our
parish.
If you are visiting our parish, “Welcome”, we are glad to have
you here and hope you will come back and pray with us. If
you are new to the area/parish, we extend a special welcome to
you and pray that you will find a warm home here. Stop by
the parish office during the week to register.
Registering at St. Mary Parish is a declaration of your desire
to be part of a Catholic community and commitment to the life
of a parish family. Being a registered parishioner makes
things easier when it is time for Baptism, religious education
registration, a wedding, when asked to be a baptismal or
confirmation sponsor, rental of parish buildings, buying a
burial plot and even funerals.
We are often asked by other parishes to provide affidavits for
baptismal and confirmation sponsors. We can only do this if a
person is a registered, active, and contributing member of our
parish. How do you know if you are registered? A registered
parishioner receives all parish mailing and monthly tithing
envelopes (or do automatic deduct for Sunday giving).
2020 St. Maria Goretti Youth Distinction Award
The purpose of the Saint Maria Groetti Youth Distinction is to
recognize adolescents for their outstanding contribution to the life,
mission, and ministry provided to their family, parish, school and
community. The distinction is celebrated at a local church at the
celebration of a youth Mass.
Any high school student who actively lives out his/her Catholic
faith is eligible to receive this distinction. It is recommended that a
parish honor Juniors or Seniors. St. Mary Parish can nominate 2 of
our youth to receive this award. Remember, they must live out their
faith and be involved in the parish.
Please send your nomination to [email protected] by February
10. Candidates and families will be invited to the March 15 Mass
and ceremony at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville.
Precious Blood Parish will be hosting a Women’s Retreat, “You’re
Worth It!”. The retreat will be held on Saturday, March 7, 8:00am to
2:30pm. Catholic author, Danielle Bean, will walk with you alongside
the women of the Gospels and explore what it means to be fully loved
by Jesus. Cost is $25 (includes lunch). More info and registration
forms can be found at preciousbloodjasperin.org or email Bonnie
Meadows at [email protected]. Registration forms and event fee
must be received by February 12. The retreat is limited to the first
125 women.
The Message goes to every registered household in the Diocese of Evansville 6 times a year. You can read about happenings and news from around the diocese all year long by subscribing to The Message! The print edition is delivered to your mailbox each week via the U.S. Postal Service. The digital edition link is delivered right to your email address. The subscribe, mail your check $24 for print (which in-cludes free digital access if you provide your email address), or $12 for digital only (please include your email address), to The Message, P O Box 4169, Evansville, IN 47724, or visit www.evdiomessage.org and select the “subscribe” button. Easy instructions will guide you to order either edition by using your credit card. Thank you for your support of Southwest Indiana’s Catholic community newspaper.
As Catholics, we are called to witness to one another the amazing
things God has done for us. The Welcome (previously known as
CRHP - Christ Renews His Parish) process allows us to do just that -
take a break from our busy lives, share our faith with others, and get to
know God through His works. This is a 2 day, overnight retreat be-
ginning Saturday morning and ending Sunday afternoon. There is no
cost to the participant - this retreat is a gift from the Catholic parishes
in Ireland and Jasper. Mark your calendars! The women’s weekend
will be February 8 & 9 and the men’s is March 7 & 8. Sign up sheets
will be in the back of church soon.

There have been several questions regarding influenza season and any actions that need to be taken regarding the potential for spreading the disease at Mass. Here is our current position as well as some suggestions/best practices:
If you are feeling ill, you should not receive from the
chalice, or even stay home to avoid spreading disease.
If you are uncomfortable or concerned about the spread
of disease, you do not have to receive from the chalice, nor should you feel obligated to shake hands at the “Sign of Peace”.
Stay home if you are sick
