This machine is intended for trimming and brushcutting and is not intended for any other purpose. It is important that you read and understand these instructions thoroughly before attempting to start or operate this equipment. Save these original instructions for future reference.

The trimmer/brushcutter requires final assembly before use. Refer to the Assembly section of this manual for instructions on final assembly procedures. Follow the instructions completely.

5WaRNING Unintentional sparking can result in fire or electric shock. Unintentional start-up can result in entanglement, traumatic amputation, or laceration.Fire hazard.

Before performing adjustments or repairs: Disconnect the spark plug wire and keep it away from the

spark plug. Use only correct tools. Replacement parts must be of the same design and

installed in the same position as the original parts.

WaRNING Exhaust heat/gases could ignite combustibles or structures resulting in death, serious injury or property damage. Contact with the muffler area could cause burns resulting in serious injury.

DO NOT touch hot parts. Allow equipment to cool before touching. It is a violation of California Public Resource Code,

Section 4442, to use or operate the engine on any forest-covered, brush-covered, or grass-covered land unless the exhaust system is equipped with a spark arrester, as defined in Section 4442, maintained in effective working order. Other states or jurisdictions may have similar laws. Contact the original equipment manufacturer, retailer, or dealer to obtain a spark arrester designed for the exhaust system installed on the engine.

WaRNING Rapid retraction of starter cord (kickback) will pull hand and arm toward engine faster than you can let go. Broken bones, fractures, bruises, or sprains could result.

When starting engine, pull the starter cord slowly until resistance is felt and then pull rapidly to avoid kickback.

Blade or trimmer head must be securely attached.

WaRNING Moving parts could crush and cut. Starter and other rotating parts could entangle hands, hair, clothing, or accessories resulting in serious injury.

NEVER operate unit without protective guards in place. DO NOT wear loose clothing, jewelry or anything that

could be caught in the starter or other rotating parts. Tie up long hair. Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts.

WaRNING Running engine gives off carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless, poison gas. Breathing carbon monoxide can cause headache, fatigue, dizziness, vomiting, confusion, seizures, nausea, fainting or death.

Operate equipment ONLY outdoors. Keep exhaust gas from entering a confined area through

windows, doors, ventilation intakes, or other openings.

WaRNING Objects thrown by the trimmer can cause serious injury.

Clear the area to be cut before each use. Remove all objects such as broken glass, nails, wires, or string, which could be thrown or become entangled in the cutting attachment.

Clear the area of children, bystanders, and pets. Keep all children, bystanders outside of a 50 ft (15 m)

radius. Bystanders should be encouraged to wear eye protection.

WaRNING Thrown debris could cause eye injuries. Noise levels could cause hearing damage. Nylon trimming line and blades can cut through clothes and skin.

NEVER operate unit without protective guards in place. DO NOT wear loose clothing, jewelry or anything that

you use the trimmer. Wear hearing protectors. Wear protective clothing to reduce the risk and severity

WaRNING Improperly maintaining the trimmer, or failure to correct a problem before operation, can cause a malfunction in which you can be seriously hurt or killed. Always follow the inspection and maintenance recommendations and schedules in this manual.

6Trimmer Safety Read, understand, and follow instructions and

warnings in this manual and on the machine, engine and attachments.

Know the controls and the proper use of the machine before starting.

The equipment should only be used in good weather conditions and with clear visibility.

To prevent injury to others, keep people at least 50 feet (15 meters) away from the working area during operation.

DO NOT touch the cutting head or blade in motion. Keep firm footing and balance. Do not over-reach.

Keep cutting attachment below waist level. Keep all parts of your body away from the rotating cutting attachment and hot surfaces.

NEVER use the unit without the blade guard securely in place.

Do not strike objects that may cause harm or damage to the unit.

Always wear eye protection and protective clothing. Always wear the safety glasses provided with the unit. Protect yourself when operating unit by wearing safety glasses, a dust mask, long pants, ear protection, and substantial footwear.

Clear the working area. Objects thrown by the trimmer can cause serious injury. Before operating the trimmer, carefully inspect the area and remove any broken glass, pieces of wire, and other loose objects.

The cutting attachment may be spinning during carburetor adjustments. Wear protective equipment and observe all safety instructions. For units equipped with a clutch, be sure the cutting attachment stops turning when the engine idles. When the unit is turned off, make sure the attachment has stopped before the unit is set down.

A coasting blade can cause injury while it continues to spin after the engine is stopped or throttle trigger is released. Maintain proper control until the blade has completely stopped rotating.

Safe Handling of GasolineTo avoid personal injury or property damage, use extreme care in handling gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the vapors are explosive.

Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other sources of ignition.

Use only an approved fuel container. DO NOT fill fuel containers inside a vehicle or on a

truck or trailer with a plastic liner. Always place the containers on the ground away from the vehicle before filling.

Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel tank or container opening at all times until fueling is complete. DO NOT use a nozzle lock-open device.

DO NOT refuel the machine indoors. DO NOT remove fuel cap or add fuel with the engine

running. Allow the engine to cool before refueling. Remove gas-powered equipment from the vehicle

or trailer and refuel it on the ground. If this is not possible, then refuel equipment using a portable container, rather than a gasoline dispenser nozzle.

Never overfill a fuel tank. Replace fuel cap and tighten securely.

DO NOT store the machine or fuel container inside where there is an open flame, spark or pilot light such as on a water heater or other appliance.

If fuel is spilled on clothing, change clothing immediately.

Protection for children, Bystander, and PetsTragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children, bystanders, and pets. Children are often attracted to the machine and the trimming activity. Never assume that children will remain where you last saw them.

Keep children out of the trimming area and under the watchful care of a responsible adult.

7Maintenance Safety Keep engine free of grass, leaves or excess grease to

reduce fire hazard and engine overheating. When draining fuel tank, drain fuel into an approved

container outdoors and away from open flame. Always provide adequate ventilation when running

engine. Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, an odorless and deadly poison.

Service engine and make adjustments only when engine is stopped. Remove spark plug wire from spark plug and secure wire away from spark plug.

DO NOT change engine governor speed settings or overspeed engine.

DO NOT test for spark with spark plug removed.

Transporting and Storage Safety DO NOT store equipment or fuel container inside

where fumes may reach an open flame, spark or pilot light such as in a water heater, furnace, clothes dryer or other gas appliance. Allow engine to cool before storing equipment in an enclosure. Store fuel container out of the reach of children in a well ventilated, unoccupied building.

Do not stand the unit unsecured or unattended in the vertical position. Do not store in the vertical position.

Hand carry the unit in the horizontal position with the engine stopped and the muffler away from your body. Ensure the blade is well clear of people and property.

Allow the engine to cool before transporting or storing the unit.

Empty the fuel tank after each use and before storing the unit.

choke leverThe choke lever (Figure 1) opens and closes the choke valve. The CLOSED position enriches the fuel mixture for starting a cold engine. The OPEN position provides the correct fuel mixture for operation after starting, and for restarting a warm engine.

Ignition Switch

The ignition switch (a, Figure 2) controls the ignition system. The ignition switch must be in the ON position for the engine to start and run. Moving the ignition switch to the STOP position stops the engine.

Throttle control SwitchThe throttle control switch (a, Figure 3) controls engine speed. Pulling the throttle trigger toward the control handle grip increases engine speed. Releasing the throttle trigger reduces engine speed.

Pressing the priming bulb (Figure 4) pumps fuel from the fuel tank to the carburetor. This procedure is necessary for starting the engine. Prime the clear fuel bulb at the bottom of the carburetor until it becomes hard and full of fuel.

working on machine.

Install Trimmer Head to the cutting Head

1. Align the hole on the cutting head (a, Figure 5) to the notch (B) on the spline pad (c).

2. Use Allen Wrench (D) to hold spline pad in position. 3. While holding Allen wrench in place, install the

trimmer head (e) by turning in a counterclockwise direction.

NOTe: Ensure that the spline pad is placed in the correct position when installing. The shoulder side must face the cutting head.

Install Trimmer Head Guard

1. Remove the two screws (a, Figure 6) from guard.2. Position guard and saddle (B) at hole in straight shaft.3. Install the two screws through the saddle and into the

guard.4. Remove third screw (c) from the tool set bag, and

install into the drive shaft.

NOTe: The third screw (c) is shorter than the two screws (a) installed in guard.

3. Evenly wind both lines around the spool in the direction of the arrow on the spool cover (Figure 9). One line is wound on the top half of the spool and the other is wound on the lower half of the spool.

4. Fit the ends of each line through the brass eyelets (D, Figure 10) in the trimmer head base.

5. Place the spool in the base and press until the tabs lock in place (Figure 11).

1. Press in the tabs (a, Figure 7) on the side of the trimmer head base to remove the cover of the trimmer head and the spool (B).

2. Cut a 3 meter length of 2.4 mm trimming line. Thread half the cut line (1.5 meters) through the center of the spool (c, Figure 8).

Install Brushcutter Blade to the cutting Head Install Handle

1. Turn the red knob counterclockwise to loosen the handle cap assembly.

2. Place the handle inside the cap assembly as shown (Figure 13) and turn the red knob clockwise to tighten.

3. The handle should be placed into a position that is comfortable and that allows for proper trimming operation practices.

1. Align the hole on the cutting head (a, Figure 12) to the notch (B) on the spline pad (c).

2. Use Allen Wrench (D) to hold spline pad in position.3. While holding Allen wrench in place, install the blade

(e), clamp cup (F), protective cup (G), lock washer (H) and locknut (J).

NOTe: Ensure that the spline pad is placed in the correct position when installing. The shoulder side must face the cutting head.

NOTIce: When rotating the handle for storage or assembly, Do Not allow the cable (Figure 15) to wrap around the handle cap assembly, or the cable may become damaged or disconnected.

1. Hook the harness into the fastening eyelet (Figure 15).

NOTe: The harness should be placed in the eyelet hole that allows the trimmer head or blade to cut parallel to the ground.

2. Slip the harness strap over your shoulder.3. Adjust the length of the strap to allow the trimmer

head or blade to cut parallel to the ground.

engine locking Screw

A locking screw (a, Figure 16) is located in the engine/shaft adapter, and is used to keep the engine from moving when the trimmer is in use. The screw may be loosened to allow the repositioning of the engine.

OPeRaTIONFuel Recommendations

Fuel must meet these requirements: Clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline A minimum of 87 octane/87 AKI (91 RON). Gasoline with up to 10% ethanol (gasohol) or up to

15% MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) is acceptable.

Mix Fuel and OilUse the provided bottle and mix gasoline and a high quality 2-cycle oil with a 25:1 gasoline-to-oil ratio.

caUTION Do not use unapproved gasoline, such as E85. Do not modify the engine to run on alternate fuels. This will damage the engine components and void the engine warranty.

To protect the fuel system from gum formation, mix a fuel stabilizer into the gasoline. See Storage. All fuel is not the same. If starting or performance problems occur, change the fuel providers or change brands.


When adding Fuel Turn engine off and let engine cool at least 2 minutes

before removing the fuel cap. Fill fuel tank outdoors or in well-ventilated area. Do not overfill fuel tank. To allow for expansion of

gasoline, do not fill above the bottom of the fuel tank neck.

Keep gasoline away from sparks, open flames, pilot lights, heat, and other ignition sources.

Check fuel lines, tank, cap, and fittings frequently for cracks or leaks. Replace if necessary.

If fuel spills, wait until it evaporates before starting engine.

How to add Fuel

1. Clean area around fuel cap. Remove cap.2. Slowly add fuel and oil mixture (a, Figure 17) to the

fuel tank (B). Do not fill above the bottom of the fuel tank neck (c).

3. Install fuel cap and let any spilled fuel evaporate before starting engine.

Inspect Working area

Objects thrown by the trimmer can cause serious injury. Before operating the trimmer, carefully inspect the area and remove all objects that could be thrown by, or entangled in, the cutting attachment, such as rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, or other loose objects.

Keep all children and other bystanders at least 50 feet (15 meters) away from where the trimmer is being operated.

If anyone approaches while operating the trimmer, release the throttle and stop the engine.

Inspect cutting attachments

Look for signs of damage to the cutting attachment. Replace any cutting attachment and parts that are worn out, bent, cracked, chipped, or damaged in any way.

If using the trimmer blade, be sure it is sharp. A dull blade is more likely to snag and thrust.

Ensure the cutting attachment is installed correctly.

Ensure that the blade guard is securely installed and in good condition.

Balancing the Trimmer on the Shoulder Harness

Hang the trimmer on the harness hook to check how it balances.

Adjust the shoulder harness and the harness hanger on the frame so that the handlebars in a comfortable operating position, and the trimmer hangs with its cutting attachment a few inches above the ground (Figure 18).

Stopping the engine1. Release throttle lever.2. Set Stop Switch to the OFF position.

4. Place the choke lever in the closed (Up) position (B, Figure 20).

NOTe: Do Not close the choke when starting a warm engine.

5. Hold the machine firmly and pull the starter cord slowly until resistance is felt. Then pull rapidly until the engine starts.

6. After the engine has warmed up, move the choke lever to the open (Down) position.

1. Place the machine on a hard, level surface.2. Slide the stop/start switch (located on the hand grip)

to the Start position.3. Prime the clear fuel bulb at the bottom of the

carburetor until it becomes hard and full of fuel (a, Figure 19).

Trimmer Operation

Operating PositionHold the trimmer firmly with both hands, with your fingers and thumbs encircling the handles (Figure 21). This will help keep the trimmer under control at all times.

Keep firm footing and balance. Do not overreach. Keep the cutting attachment below waist level. Keep all parts of your body away from the rotating

cutting attachment and hot surfaces.

Using a Nylon Trimmer-line Head

Refer to the chart on this page for appropriate line-cutting applications.

Line must be released with the trimmer-line head spinning rapidly.

1. Hold the rotating cutting head horizontal to the ground.

2. With the engine running at full speed, tap the cutting-line head on hard, bare ground. Do not tap the cutting-line head on pavement or concrete.

3. Each tap releases about two inches of line.4. The blade on the deflector trims surplus line to correct

length. Avoid tapping the head more than once.

NOTe: Line feed will only operate if both lines still have a minimum length of 1 (2.5 cm).

Using Brushcutter Blade

Refer to the chart on this page for appropriate blade applications.

The blade supplied with the trimmer has a protective cover surrounding the edge of the blade. For your safety, and to protect the blade, the cover should be installed whenever the trimmer is not in use or when installing the blade.

Be sure to remove the blade cover before starting the engine, or the blade cover may fly off at high speed.

The trimmer/brushcutter will throw debris in the direction of blade movement at the point of contact.

The cutting line head or blade rotate counterclockwise, as viewed from the operators position.

Tilting the cutting head to the right will throw debris away from you.

Tilting the cutting head to the left will throw debris towards you.

If the cutting head is held parallel to the ground, debris will scatter in all directions, and there will be greater friction which will wear out the cutting line or blade sooner.

OPeRaTION

WaRNING A worn, damaged, or cracked blade can break, and pieces of the damaged blade can become dangerous projectiles. A dull blade is more likely to snag and thrust (kickback). Inspect the blade regularly, and do not operate the trimmer with a dull, damaged, or worn blade.

Blade Thrust (Kickback)

Blade thrust (kickback) throws the trimmer in the direction opposite blade rotation at the point of contact, and the jolt received by the operator can result in further loss of control (Figure 22).

Replace or resharpen dull blades. Dull blades are more likely to bind in the cut and cause blade thrust.

Watch for hidden obstacles, such as rocks, stumps, roots, etc., that could cause the blade to kickback if struck. Blade thrust is more likely to occur in areas where it is difficult to see what is being cut.

Accelerate the engine to maximum speed before starting the cut, and saw through with uniform pressure.

Trimming and edging

Use a nylon line for cutting against a hard surface. Work from an angle where debris that strikes the hard

surface will fly away from you. Avoid contact with wires, wire fences, metal rods, etc.

Overlapping a wire will cause the nylon line to wrap around the wire and break off.

Operating on Slopes Start on the low side of a slope, and work upward. Avoid steep slopes that would require holding the

cutting head above waist level. Avoid slippery slopes that might cause you to lose

your balance.

Spark Plug MaintenanceChanging the spark plug will help the engine to start easier and run better.

1. Clean area around spark plug.2. Remove and inspect spark plug (a, Figure 23).3. Check the gap with wire feeler gauge (B) and reset to

recommended gap if necessary (see Specifications).4. Replace spark plug if electrodes are pitted or burned, or

the porcelain is cracked.5. Install spark plug and tighten to 180 lb. in. (20 Nm).

air Filter Maintenance

WaRNING Gasoline and its vapors are extremely flammable and explosive. Fire or explosion can cause severe burns or death. Never start or run the engine with the air cleaner

assembly or the air filter removed.

NOTIce: Do not use pressurized air or solvents to clean the filter. Pressurized air can damage the filter and solvents will dissolve the filter.

1. Remove air cleaner cover (a, Figure 24) and the filter element (B).

2. Wash foam element in liquid detergent and water to remove dirt.

3. Wrap foam element in a clean cloth and squeeze dry.4. Saturate foam element with clean engine oil. Squeeze

to remove excess oil.5. Reassemble air cleaner.

NOTIce: Make sure the air filter element and cover are fitted correctly. Warranty coverage will be void if engine is damaged due to incorrect installation of filter.

Inspect Trimmer line Head

Ensure the nylon line is only sticking out of the metal grommets on the side of the cutting head. If the line has come off the spool, proceed to Installing Trimmer Line in the Assembly Section to replace the trimmer line.

Examine the entire head area, including the debris shield, and clear or clean it free from dirt, debris, loose string, wire, or any other foreign material.

Inspect Brushcutter Blade

Before each use, check the blade for wear and damage, and check the tightness of the securing nut. Examine the entire head area, including the debris shield, and clear or clean it free from dirt, debris, loose string, wire, or any other foreign material.

Any blade that is worn out, bent, cracked, chipped, or damaged in any other way, must be replaced.

WaRNING A worn, damaged, or cracked blade can break, and pieces of the damaged blade can become dangerous projectiles. A dull blade is more likely to snag and thrust (kickback). Inspect the blade regularly, and do not operate the trimmer with a dull, damaged, or worn blade.

STORaGe


When Storing Fuel or equipment with Fuel in Tank Store away from furnaces, stoves, water heaters or other

appliances that have pilot lights or other ignition sources because they can ignite fuel vapors.

Protect Fuel System

Fuel can become stale when stored over 30 days. Stale fuel causes acid and gum deposits to form in the fuel system or on essential carburetor parts. To keep fuel fresh, use a quality fuel stabilizer.

There is no need to drain gasoline from the engine if a fuel stabilizer is added according to instructions. Run the engine for 2 minutes to circulate the stabilizer throughout the fuel system. The engine and fuel can then be stored up to 3 months.

If gasoline in the engine has not been treated with a fuel stabilizer, it must be drained into an approved container. The use of a fuel stabilizer in the storage container is recommended to maintain freshness.

Storage Safety

Allow the engine to cool before storage. Store the equipment in a clean, dry environment to avoid excessive dust, dirt, or moisture. Secure the unit to prevent tipping or falling during storage.

Store the fuel container out of the reach of children in a well-ventilated, unoccupied building.

Do not store equipment or fuel container inside where fumes may reach an open flame, spark, or pilot light such as in a water heater, furnace, clothes dryer, or other gas appliance.

Manipulacin segura del combustiblePara evitar lesiones personales o daos en los bienes, extreme la precaucin cuando manipule combustible. El combustible es extremadamente inflamable y sus vapores son explosivos.

Apague cigarrillos, puros, pipas y cualquier otra fuente de fuego.

Utilice un recipiente de combustible homologado. NUNCA llene recipientes de combustible en el interior

de vehculos o sobre un camin o remolque con revestimientos de plstico. Site los recipientes sobre el suelo, lejos del vehculo, antes de llenarlos.

Mantenga la boquilla en contacto con el borde de la boca del tanque o recipiente de combustible en todo momento y hasta haber completado el llenado. NO use un dispositivo para trabar y abrir boquillas.

NO ponga combustible en la mquina en espacios interiores.

NO retire la tapa del combustible ni aada combustible con el motor en marcha. D tiempo al motor para que se enfre antes de reponer el combustible.

Retire del vehculo o camin el equipamiento que se alimente de combustible y reponga el combustible sobre su suelo. Si ello no es posible, reponga el combustible del equipo utilizando un contenedor porttil y no con boqillas dosificadoras de combustible.

Nunca llene en exceso el depsito. Vuelva a situar la tapa del combustible y ajstela firmemente.

NO almacene la mquina ni el contenedor de combustible en interiores en que haya llamas expuestas, chispas o luces pilotos como las de los calentadores de agua u otro dispositivo.

Si se derrama combustible sobre su ropa, cmbiese de inmediato.

Seguridad en el transporte y almacenaje NO guarde el equipo ni el recipiente de combustible

en lugares donde los humos puedan alcanzar una llama, chispa o luz piloto tal como la de los calentadores, hornos, secadoras u otros dispositivos que utilicen gas. Permita que el motor se enfre antes de almacenar el equipo en un lugar cerrado. Guarde el recipiente de combustible fuera del alcance de los nios en un edificio bien ventilado y desocupado.

No deje la unidad parada en posicin vertical sin supervisin o sin sujecin. No la guarde en la posicin vertical.

Transporte la unidad manualmente en la posicin horizontal, con el motor apagado y el silenciador alejado de su cuerpo. Asegrese de que la lmina est bien alejada de las personas y pertenencias.

Permita que el motor se enfre antes de transportar o almacenar la unidad.

Vace el tanque de combustible despus de cada uso y antes de almacenar la unidad.

palanca del obturador

La palanca del obturador (Figura 1) abre y cierra la vlvula del mismo. La posicin CERRADO enriquece la mezcla de combustible para iniciar un motor fro. La posicin ABIERTO proporciona la mezcla correcta de combustible para su funcionamiento despus de arrancar, y para reiniciar un motor tibio.

Este interruptor controla el sistema de ignicin (A, Figura 2). El interruptor de ignicin debe estar en posicin ENCENDIDO para que el motor arranque y funcione. Si pone el interruptor en posicin ALTO, el motor se detiene.

interruptor de control del aceleradorEste interruptor controla la velocidad del motor (A, Figura 3). Jalar el gatillo del acelerador hacia el mango de control aumenta la velocidad del motor. Soltar el gatillo reduce la velocidad del motor.

Al presionar esta perilla, se bombea combustible desde el tanque hasta el carburador (Figura 4). Este procedimiento es necesario para que el motor arranque. Cebe la perilla de combustible vaco al fondo del carburador hasta se ponga dura y llena de combustible.

1. Presione las lengetas (A, Figura 7) en el costado de la base del cabezal de la desbrozadora para retirar la tapa del cabezal de la desbrozadora y la bobina (b).

3. Bobine ambas lneas de manera uniforme alrededor de la bobina en la direccin de la flecha en la tapa de la bobina (Figura 9). Una lnea est bobinada en la mitad superior de la bobina y la otra est bobinada en la mitad inferior de la bobina.

4. Coloque los extremos de cada lnea a travs de los ojales de bronce (D, Figura 10) de la base del cabezal de la desbrozadora.

5. Coloque la bobina en la base y presione hasta que las lengetas se traben en su lugar (Figura 11).

2. Corte un tramo de 3 metros de la lnea de desbrozadora de 2.6 mm. Enhebre la mitad de la lnea cortada (1.5 metros) a travs del centro de la bobina (C, Figura 8).

1. Gire la perilla roja hacia la izquierda para aflojar el conjunto de la tapa de la manija.

2. Coloque la manija dentro del conjunto de la tapa como se indica (Figura 13) y gire la perilla roja hacia la derecha para ajustarla.

3. El mango debe colocarse en una posicin que resulte cmoda y que permita la prctica de recorte adecuada.

AViSO: Al girar la manija para almacenaje o ensamblaje, NO permita que el cable (Figura 14) se enrosque en el conjunto de la tapa de la manija, ya que el cable puede daarse o desconectarse.

1. Alinee el hoyo en la cabeza cortante (A, Figura 12) al corte (b) en la almohadilla de tira (C).

2. Utilice la Llave Inglesa de Allen (D) tener tira almohadilla en la posicin.

3. Al tener la llave inglesa de Allen en el lugar, instala la hoja (E), taza de abrazadera (F), taza protectora (G),arandela de cerradura (H) y la contratuerca (j).

Recomendaciones de combustible

El combustible debe cumplir con los siguientes requisitos: Combustible limpia y nueva, sin plomo Un mnimo de 87 octanos/87 AKI (91 RON) Combustible con hasta un 10% de etanol (gasohol) o

hasta un 15% de MTBE (metil terciario butil ter) es aceptable.

Mezcle combustible y aceiteUse el frasco provisto y mezcle un aceite de 2 ciclos de alta calidad con combustible en una proporcin combustible-aceite de 25:1.

pRECAuCiN No use combustible no aprobados, tales como E85. No modifique el motor para que funcione con combustibles alternativos. Esto daar los componentes del motor y anular la garanta del motor.

Para proteger el sistema de combustible contra la formacin de goma, mzclele un estabilizador de combustible a la combustible. Vea Almacenaje. Todos el combustibles no son iguales. Si ocurren problemas de desempeo o en el arranque, cambie de proveedor de combustible o de marca.

Mantenga la combustible lejos de chispas, llamas abiertas, el pilotos, calor y otras fuentes de ignicin.

Verifique las lneas de combustible, tanque, tapa y conectores a menudo, para constatar si presentan rajaduras o prdidas. Reemplcelas, si fuera necesario.

Si se derrama combustible, espere hasta que se evapore para arrancar el motor.

Cmo agregar combustible

1. Limpie el rea alrededor de la tapa de llenado de combustible. Quite la tapa.

2. Lentamente, agregue mezcla de aceite y combustible (A, Figura 17) al tanque de combustible (b). No llene ms all de la base del cuello del tanque de combustible (C).

3. Instale la tapa de combustible y permita que se evapore todo combustible derramado antes de poner en marcha el motor.

Revise las reas de trabajo

Los objetos arrojados por la recortadora pueden causar lesiones graves. Antes de poner a funcionar la recortadora, revise cuidadosamente el rea y quite todos los objetos que podran salir disparados o enredarse en el accesorio para cortar, tales como rocas, vidrios rotos, clavos, cable u otros objetos sueltos.

Mantenga a los nios y a los transentes a una distancia de al menos 15 metros de donde est funcionando la recortadora.

Si alguien se acerca mientras est usando la recortadora, libere el gatillo y apague el motor.

Revise los accesorios para cortar

Busque seales de que el accesorio pudiera estar estropeado. Reemplace el accesorio y las partes desgastadas, dobladas, quebradas, despostilladas o que se vean daadas de alguna manera.

Si usa la cuchilla para recortar, asegrese de que est filosa. Es muy probable que una cuchilla sin filo se enganche y rebote.

Asegrese de que el accesorio para cortar est instalado correctamente.

Asegrese de que la cubierta de la hoja est instalada correctamente y en buenas condiciones.

Cmo balancear la recortadora en el arns para el hombro

Cuelgue la recortadora en el gancho del arns para ver cmo se balancea.

Ajuste el arns del hombro y el gancho del arns en el armazn para que el mango se ubique en una posicin cmoda de manejo, y la recortadora cuelgue con el accesorio para cortar a algunas pulgadas del suelo (Figura 18).

Cmo arrancar el motor


Al poner en marcha el motor Asegrese que la buja, el silenciador, la tapa de

combustible y el limpiador de aire (si lo tuviera) estn en su lugar y bien sujetos.

No haga girar el motor sin que la buja est colocada en el equipo.

ADVERtENCiA Los motores en marcha emiten monxido de carbono, un gas venenoso inodoro e incoloro. El respirar el monxido de carbono puede causar dolor de cabeza, fatiga, mareos, vmitos, confusin, convulsiones, nuseas, desmayo o muerte.

SOLO opere el equipo en exteriores. Evite que el gas del escape ingresa a un rea cerrada a

Al arrancar el motor, tire del cable del arrancador lentamente hasta sentir resistencia y luego tire rpidamente para evitar la retraccin repentina.

Los componentes del equipo con acoplamiento directo, tales como, entre otros, lminas, hlices, poleas y ruedas dentadas deben estar firmemente sujetos.

1. Coloque la mquina sobre una superficie nivelada y dura.

2. Deslice el interruptor de encendido/apagado (ubicado en el mango) en la posicin de encendido (Start).

3. Imprima el bulbo de combustible transparente en la base del carburador hasta que se endurezca y se llene de combustible (A, Figura 19).

4. Coloque la palanca del estrangulador en la posicin cerrada (hacia arriba) (b, Figura 20).

NOtA: No use el estrangulador para arrancar un motor caliente.

5. Sujete la mquina firmemente y tire de la cuerda del arranque lentamente hasta sentir resistencia. Luego, tire rpidamente hasta que arranque el motor.

6. Cuando el motor se haya calentado, mueva la palanca del estrangulador a la posicin abierta (hacia abajo).

Fucionamiento de la recortadora

Mantenga una posicin firme y en balance. No se exceda. Mantenga el accesorio para cortar por debajo del nivel

de la cintura. Mantenga todas las partes de su cuerpo alejadas del

accesorio para cortar mientras est girando y de las superficies calientes.

Cmo usar una cabeza recortadora de hilo de nylon

Consulte el diagrama de esta pgina para ver las aplicaciones adecuadas de corte con hilo. El hilo debe liberarse mientras la cabeza recortadora gira rpidamente.

1. Sostenga la cabeza recortadora giratoria en sentido horizontal al suelo.

2. Con el motor funcionando a mxima velocidad, golpee ligeramente la cabeza del hilo de corte sobre el suelo firme y libre de objetos. No lo haga sobre el pavimento o concreto.

3. Cada golpecito suave suelta cerca de cinco centmetros de hilo.

4. La cuchilla del deflector recorta el hilo excesivo para lograr una longitud adecuada. Evite golpetear la cabeza ms de una vez.

NOtA: La alimentacin del hilo slo funciona si ambos hilos todava tienen una longitud mnima de 2.5 cm.

Cmo usar la hoja cortadora de maleza

Consulte el diagrama de esta pgina para ver las aplicaciones adecuadas de la cuchilla.

La cuchilla que viene incluida con la recortadora tiene una cubierta protectora que rodea el borde. Para su seguridad y proteger la cuchilla, la cubierta debe instalarse siempre que la recortadora no se est usando o cuando se instale la cuchilla.

Asegrese de quitar la cubierta de la cuchilla antes de prender el motor, pues la cuchilla podra salir disparada a gran velocidad.

La recortadora/cortadora de maleza arrojar brozas en la direccin del movimiento de la hoja en el punto de contacto.

La cabeza del hilo cortante o la cuchilla giran en sentido contrario a las manecillas del reloj, desde la posicin del que maneja el aparato.

Si inclina la cabeza cortadora hacia la derecha, arrojar la broza lejos de usted.

Si inclina la cabeza cortadora hacia la izquierda, arrojar la broza hacia usted.

Si la cabeza cortadora se mantiene paralela a la tierra, la broza saldr volando en todas direcciones, y se har una mayor friccin lo cual desgastar ms pronto el hilo cortante o la cuchilla.

ADVERtENCiA: Si la hoja est desgastada, daada o rota se puede romper y los pedazos de hoja se convertirn en proyectiles muy peligrosos. Es muy posible que una cuchilla sin filo se va a enganchar y separarse (contragolpe). Revise la hoja con regularidad y no haga funcionar la recortadora con una cuchilla sin filo, daada o desgastada.

Empuje de la cuchilla (Contragolpe)

El empuje de la cuchilla (contragolpe) lanza a la recortadora en la direccin opuesta a la rotacin de la cuchilla en el punto de contacto, y el impacto que reciba el operador puede provocar mayor prdida de control (Figura 22).

Reemplace o afile las cuchillas sin filo. Estas pueden atascarse al cortar y causar un empuje de la cuchilla.

Revise que no haya obstculos ocultos, tales como rocas, muones, races, etc., que podran ocasionar un contragolpe de la cuchilla si choca contra ellos. El contragolpe de la cuchilla puede ocurrir con ms facilidad en reas donde es difcil apreciar qu se est cortando.

Acelere el motor a mxima velocidad antes de comenzar a recortar, y corte con presin uniforme.

Use hilo de nylon para cortar sobre una superficie dura.

Trabaje desde un ngulo donde la broza que choca contra la superficie dura vuele lejos de usted.

Evite el contacto con cables, cercas de alambre, varillas de metal, etc. Si el nylon queda sobrepuesto en un cable, el hilo se enredar alrededor del cable y se romper.

Cmo trabajar en pendientes Comience en la parte baja de la pendiente y trabaje

hacia arriba. Evite las pendientes empinadas que lo obligaran a

sostener la cabeza cortante por arriba del nivel de la cintura.

Evite las pendientes resbalosas que pueden hacerle perder el balance.

ADVERtENCiA: El empuje de la cuchilla (Contragolpe) es un movimiento sbito, fuerte y descontrolado de una recortadora equipada con cuchilla que puede ocurrir si la cuchilla se atasca al cortar o si la cuchilla choca contra un objeto slido.

Mantenimiento de bujas

El cambio de la buja har que el motor arranque con ms facilidad y funcione mejor.

1. Limpie el rea alrededor de la buja.2. Quite e inspeccione la buja (A, Figura 23).3. Verifique la brecha con una lmina calibradora (b) y

ajstela a la brecha recomendada si fuera necesario (ver Especificaciones).

4. Reemplace la buja si los electrodos presentan hoyos o quemaduras, o si la porcelana est quebrada.

5. Instale la buja y apriete a 20 Nm (180 lb. pies) (C).

Mantenimiento del filtro de aire

ADVERtENCiA La combustible y sus vapores son extremamente el inflamables y explosivos. El fuego o la explosin pueden causar quemaduras graves o muerte. Nunca ponga en marcha el motor ni lo deje

funcionando sin el conjunto del limpiador de aire o el filtro de aire colocados.

AViSO: No use aire presurizado o solventes para limpiar el filtro. El aire presurizado puede daar el filtro y los solventes disolvern el filtro.

1. Quite la tapa del limpiador de aire (A, Figura 24) y el elemento del filtro (b).

2. Lave el elemento de espuma en detergente lquido y agua para eliminar la suciedad.

3. Envuelva el elemento de espuma en un pao limpio y apritelo para secarlo.

4. Sature el elemento de espuma con aceite de motor limpio. Apritelo para eliminar el aceite excesivo.

5. Vuelva a ensamblar el limpiador de aire (C).

AViSO: Asegure que el elemento del filtro de aire y la tapa estn bien calzados. Se anular la cobertura de la garanta si se daa el motor debido a la instalacin incorrecta del filtro.

Mantenimiento del accesorio para cortar

inspeccione la cabeza de hilo de la recortadora

Asegrese de que el hilo de nylon apenas sobresalga de los ojales metlicos al lado de la cabeza cortadora. Si el hilo se ha salido de la bobina, proceda a instalar el hilo de la recortadora en la Seccin de montaje para reemplazar el hilo.

Examine toda el rea de la cabeza, incluso el escudo contra brozas, y vacelo o lmpielo de polvo, brozas, cuerdas sueltas, cable o cualquier otro material extrao.

Antes de cada uso, revise la cuchilla para verificar que no est desgastada o daada, y reviste si la tuerca de seguridad est bien apretada. Examine toda el rea de la cabeza, incluso el escudo contra brozas, y vacelo o lmpielo de polvo, brozas, cuerdas sueltas, cable o cualquier otro material extrao.

Cualquier cuchilla que est desgastada, doblada, quebrada, despostillada o daada debe reemplazarse.

ADVERtENCiA: Si la hoja est desgastada, daada o rota se puede romper y los pedazos de hoja se convertirn en proyectiles muy peligrosos. Es muy posible que una cuchilla sin filo se va a enganchar y separarse (contragolpe). Revise la hoja con regularidad y no haga funcionar la recortadora con una cuchilla sin filo, daada o desgastada.

Al almacenar combustible o equipos con combustible en el tanque Almacenar lejos de calderas, estufas, calentadores de

agua u otros aparatos con luces-piloto u otras fuentes de ignicin, ya que pueden prender fuego a vapores del combustible.

El combustible puede echarse a perder cuando se lo almacena ms de 30 das. El combustible echado a perder provoca la formacin de depsitos de cido y goma en el sistema de combustible o en piezas esenciales del carburador.

No es necesario drenar la combustible del motor si se agrega un el estabilizador de combustible de acuerdo con las instrucciones. Ponga en marcha el motor por 2 minutos para circular el estabilizador por todo el sistema de combustible. Luego, se puede almacenar el motor y el combustible por hasta 3 meses.

Si no se ha tratado a el combustible en el motor con un estabilizador de combustible, se lo debe drenar en un recipiente aprobado. Se recomienda el uso de un estabilizador de combustible en el recipiente de almacenaje para mantener la frescura.

Seguridad en el almacenaje

Permita que el motor se enfre antes de almacenarlo. Almacene el equipo en un ambiente limpio y seco para evitar polvo, tierra o humedad excesivos. Sujete la unidad para evitar que se incline o caiga durante el almacenaje.

Guarde el recipiente de combustible fuera del alcance de los nios en un edificio bien ventilado y desocupado.

No guarde el equipo ni el recipiente de combustible en lugares donde los humos puedan alcanzar una llama, chispa o luz piloto tal como la de los calentadores, hornos, secadoras u otros dispositivos que utilicen gas.

Limpie la manija, el cabezal de corte, la proteccin y las piezas del motor con un pao hmedo. Para evitar la contaminacin del combustible o daos al equipo, NO aplique agua u otros lquidos directamente en la unidad.
