Men’s magazine

• The first slide contains magazines that are mainly aimed at men. Darker colours are used like black, dark blue and silver. The magazines contain things like super heroes, cars and video games. These are the kinds of things that men are interested in.

• The second slide contains magazines aimed at women. They use brighter colours like blue white and pink. They are usually about things like fashion and celebrity. These are the types of themes that appeal to a female audience.

• Theses magazines have a wide variety of different themes from Disney princesses to Marvel super heroes. Children are interested in lots of different things. These magazines appeal to them because there are lots of different ones to choose from. They appeal to boys and girls.

Magazine Analysis• This is “Empire” magazine. This magazines target

audience is mainly males aged 26-40. The magazine uses dark colours that would appeal to a male audience. The central image is Captain America because this issue is about “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. The logo, which is red, stands out to the audience. It stands out from all of the dark colours on the front cover. The anchorage text towards the bottom right of the screen tells the reader what the image on the cover is about. The anchorage text includes the name of the film that the magazine is focusing on.

Target Audience

• There are lots of different “tribes” in the UK. Each tribe is very different from the other. They can like a variety of different things from gaming to skating. My magazine is aimed at the “alternative” tribe. These are people who are fans of gaming, comics and films. They are also known as “geeks” or “super fans”.
