It’s now mid summer and the lodge is as busy as ever. We recently had the Kid’s Fishing Tournament with thirty one kids that showed up for fishing, fun was had by all. Thank you Mike for another good time fishing, and to all the volunteers that helped. We also just celebrated our lodge anniversary and the fourth of July, thank John Jones for cooking the chicken for us and all the wonderful side dishes that were donated. There are a lot of events

and fundraisers that are coming up and we look forward too seeing everyone come out and give their support. The building committee has been formed and we are looking for a new home, questions and comments are welcome in our first meeting of the month, which is the first Thursday of each month. Fraternally Yours John Larson, Governor

Governor’s Message

Well, fall is here, hard to believe it’s al-most time for our snowbirds to be back in the Lodge, we’ll be hopping again. But I have to say one thing, we have had a great summer thanks to you the year-round members. I’m sure all of you heard by now that we have a Building Committee, this commit-tee is working hard to find property for this Lodge to move to and then in the fu-ture build on. It is hard to find an existing building that would suit our needs. The committee is trying to keep us within a 3 to 5 mile radius; all of this is not easy. As you travel in Palm Bay area if you come across anything that might work for us please let the committee know. This way would help us all. Back to the Lodge, as I started out to say, we have had a great summer. We were able to put some money into the building fund and still have a lot of fun for the rest of us. We had a great kids fishing tourna-ment this year with even more fishermen than before. Plans are underway for Hal-loween, not only for the adults, but our little bumpkins. In October Sharon is go-ing to have a great community event rais-ing funds for a young two-year-old girl that needs our help. We are advertising this in newspapers and on TV and want this to be a big event. So please if you have any ideas, talk to Sharon, offer her all the help that you can. As always I know the Palm Bay Moose will come together and make this one of the best events ever. September is also time for the FBMA’s

State Convention, if you get the chance, you should go for at least the Friday and Saturday events. There is a lot to be learned at the convention about what Florida Bermuda Moose does in our state. It also let’s you hear what other lodges are doing, good and bad, and so this helps us get better. If you don’t know already I want to con-gratulate Past Governor Ralph Curtis for becoming our new District 7 President. Our little Lodge now has had two District Presidents, the first being Scott Duncan. So to both of you thank you for what you do for Moose. Good luck Ralph. It was nice at our last District Meeting, at Sebastian Lodge, when the election was held (LOL) to have 12 members from our Lodge. I want to thank all of you for show-ing up. For those who have never been to a district meeting, the get to have fun with members from the other four lodges and you get a free lunch. Try to make one, the next one is in Vero Beach on the second Sunday of September, you can make a morning of it by having breakfast at the Lodge followed by the meeting at noon. The breakfast you’ll have to pay for. Well I guess I’ve taken up enough space I have so much to say so I’ll end it for now. And I look to see you in the Lodge. Come out in support of your Lodge ,I know it’s not so easy but find a some new members and tell the ones that have not been around in a while to come back in and see how much fun were having. Fraternally, Lee Singleton, Administrator

Summer is coming to an end soon, but that doesn’t mean that the fun is ending at our Lodge! Our snowbirds will be re-turning before long and there will be a lot of catching up to do with our northern friends. We appreciate everyone who came out and enjoyed Christmas in July! We had a great time cooking and serving everyone, and that Pork Tenderloin was awe-some. Gracie’s Italian dinner was wonder-ful! Thank you Gracie and everyone who joined us. We are delighted to have Marie back home. Marie will be cooking Bingo Food and the WOTM Breakfast again starting in October. Yeah! September 20th, Marie and Sharon will

be cooking up a German Dinner. I am sure that it’s going to be fantastic! We have an awesome Halloween Basket Raffle planned for October! Make sure and check your calendar and lodge posters for details. Don’t forget to come out for the WOTM Steak Shoot on October 15th from 6 to 8 p.m. with Helen. And “Bingo” with Donna every Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. All Women of the Moose Co-Workers are welcome at our Chapter Meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. We have a lot of fun planning events for your chapter, come be part of it! Fraternally Yours, Marlene Jones, Senior Regent

Membership Committee Report Here we are five months into our mem-bership campaign and we are down 12 members. Moose international is no longer giving out Lodges quotas to reach. The new program is to just have one more member than last year. So as I’ve said we are short 12 new members. Let’s try to keep our membership growing and bring some more good people in. As you know the Palm Bay Moose 2311, is the best place in town to come and have fun. Fraternally, Lee Singleton Membership Chairman

(Kid’s Fishing from page 1) This is a catch and release tournament so our pictures tell the tale. Among the lucky fish were crevalle jacks, whiting, mangrove snapper, puffer, and more than one sting ray. For the day the most fish caught prize went to Gauge T.. He was lucky enough to catch seven of the nineteen fish. One was only four inches long but still counted. Amazingly it was almost smaller than the shrimp that was used to catch it. On the girls side of the most fish contest there was a tie, if a girl caught a fish, she tied for most fish, everyone caught just one fish. So to decide who would take home the prize, they used the biggest fish method and continued

to award prizes based on size. For the girls third prize went to Aubrey J., she reeled in a nine and a half inch puffer fish. Second, went to Maya M. with a ten and half inch mangrove snapper. And first place for the girls , Katie O. with a twelve inch crevalle jack. The boys really went big for the contest this year topping all the girls fish and coming in with the two largest fish of the day. For the Boys and overall, Second place went to Garrett M. with a fourteen and a half inch whiting. to top that off and take the largest fish of the day, “Little Man” Ryan O. hooked a fifteen inch whiting.

Our Family Activities Chairman Don Jones with the help of the Kid’s Fishing Committee did an excellent job of organizing the event. He would like to send a special thanks to all the volunteers including Bruce, Matt, Mike N., Scott, Marlene, Sharon, Dave, John, Shawn, Ron, Greg, and especially Mike Guidice who has been the glue that keeps this event happening. . With the kids, the Lodge, and the volunteers we send a special thanks to American Legion Post 81, Lodge Member Rich Hayes, and the Women of the Moose Chapter for their financial support. get in the tank. Please call the lodge if you would like to volunteer to help, make a dona-tion or just need more information. Call or visit (321) 729-0663, 1335 Malabar Road, Palm Bay, Florida 32907. (Story by Scott Duncan, Sharon Murray, and medical reference from webMD.com.

(Building from page 1) Other options in-cluded too much rehab to repair buildings. So this time we are considering both a new build and remodel options. Though we would pre-fer to build to our needs. The Committee has recognized that Lodge Members may have input we need to hear. So in line with our open door policy, we invite anyone with ideas or options to attend the first meeting of the month. A state of the committee will report and they will listen for input from the mem-bers in attendance. Just for prudence, these discussions are only for committee business, if you have lodge business to discuss please attend a Lodge Meeting on the second and forth Saturday of each month. As we look forward we know we will need to produce funds for a down payment on any property we find. Our Chairman Mike Guidice said “Our goal is to raise over $10,000 toward the building fund before the end of the fiscal year.” To assist with that we have started a weekly 50/50 that will be drawn on Mondays and a monthly Book that will be drawn the last Monday of the month. Please ask in the social quarters to participate. In July with the assistance of the OH MY GOSH CLUB and the WOTM Chapter, we raised $416 with the blind auction and Jello shots. Watch for our future events as they should be exciting too. By W. Scott Duncan

Moose Riders, Your riders group is keeping active despite the warm weather. Last month they sup-ported the “Suds Run”. The run raised money for “Project Suds” which meets weekly with homeless Veterans at Sable Palm Laundry to wash their cloths. This run included our Lodge as a stop bringing exposure and new members to the Moose. They also held a fun run that went to Vero having 5 stops before returning home. All members that attended had a great time. Our Lodge will be the starting point for a run to be held on September 13th by “Wild Dogs for War Dogs”. The proceeds will go to

the care and support the silent heroes in the military, with the USWDA Southern Chapter. Look for details on the flyer posted on the Riders Bulletin board. Cars are welcomed to support this cause. The Riders are deep into the planning proc-ess for their “ 2nd Annual Pig Roast’” to be held September 27th. Dear Lodge Members and Coworkers,

The Moose Family Lodge is focused on bettering not just the Lodge but the commu-

nity. We can only meet our goals with the assistance of members like you. This is a

chance for you to invest in a not for profit Lodge that truly practices what it preaches.

Today, with a donation, you can help us reach our goal to have our own property and

building, enhance our programming, and really have that chance to give all Lodge mem-

bers a new home to enjoy, and to be proud enough to bring even more new members.

We understand that the times are still tough on a lot of us. As you already know we are

not the typical organization. We are a fraternal order of men and women working together

to help support our main charities Mooseheart, Moosehaven and help in our own commu-

nities. We support Moose with the endowment funds collected in our Lodge and other

fundraisers. Even a part of your dues go towards the support of these two charities. But

still we need to ask you for a donation to make this new Lodge home a reality.

We can only hope that you will support this mission, to help us implement this pro-

gram. There will be many events planned in the future to add towards the Building Fund

and there will be a lot of opportunities for you to help. Even if at this time you cannot do-

nate money, you can donate your time at any of these upcoming events, this will also

benefit us reaching our goal. We need you the members to support this Building Fund and

further extend our future.

If you have any questions or ideas about this, please feel free to give us a call 321-729-

0663 or shoot us an email, ([email protected]). Again I want to say thank you

for your time in reading this. And any assistance would be great appreciated by our mem-

bers and future members.

Fraternally,

Lee your Administrator
