The Women of The Moose Chapter 2193

Over the past two months the Palm Bay Moose Lodge has been busy with celebra-tions, our lodge’s birthday, the 4th of July, the Celebration of Life for Pam Kerr and the Kid’s Fishing Tournament. I hope that everyone enjoyed the activities as much as I did. Thank you to all of those who worked so diligently to make everything go smoothly. It’s always nice to see everyone working together.

Speaking of working together, there is a joint function happening with the LOOM and WOTM! We are raffling off a safe filled with all kinds of stuff in the next few months. Look for the posters around the lodge or ask your favorite bartender for in-formation.

We are making progress in the purchase OUR new home, come to a general meeting to get updates and remember that your input is important to me and your board.

I would like to say Congratulations to our members, our Lodge received the Premier Lodge Award!!! Also, congratulations to our WOTM Chapter members, Mary Beth Hayes for receiving her College of Regents Degree, Ellen Maher for her Star Recorder degree and Teresa Gladchuk on receiving her Green Cap Call Card. I also would like to congratulate Scott Duncan for receiving the Moose Journalism for Best Editorial Award in St. Louis.

There are a lot of fun activities coming up in the next few months, be sure to check out the posters! Let’s make sure that OUR lodge remains the “Friendliest Lodge” in town.

Fraternally, Don Jones, Governor

Join me as I would like to congratulate Marybeth Hayes for earning her College of Regents Degree and receiving her Cap & Gown, and Ellen Maher for earning her Star Recorder Degree. Both were presented at the Women of the Moose Convention in St. Louis, Missouri in July. I also would like to congratulate Teresa Gladchuk, as she has received her Green Cap calling card. There is no stopping the ladies at the Palm Bay Moose Chapter. This is what happens when the women get along and work together in harmony, there is nothing we cannot do together. Keep up the good work, I am so proud of this Chapter. As some of the snowbirds are starting to return early, it’s been hotter up there, than it has been here, if you can believe that. Keep an eye out and welcome them back to their winter home. Be sure to look around the Lodge at the posters, we have some exciting events coming up. The “Pimps & Ho’s” Event is one that I know you will all enjoy. Jane and Jennifer will be hosting, so don’t miss out, it is coming on September 24. In October, Sharon will be hosting the Oktoberfest Event, sure to include some of your favorite beer, German foods, and beer. Watch for the posters around the lodge. Before I end, I would like to thank the men of the Palm Bay Moose Lodge. For all you help with our functions, your volunteerism is greatly appreciated. See you around the lodge or at a meeting, keep up the good work. Join us for Tues-day Night Bingo, we always have a blast… Fraternally, Donna Wheelin, Senior Regent

The Annual Palm Bay Moose Lodge Kid’s Fishing Party

In the mind of a child, all things are possible. Give the child a tuna sandwich and they eat for a day, teach them to fish, and they eat for a lifetime. Any way you put it, the Palm Bay Moose Lodge Kid’s Fishing Tournament is AWESOME! July 30, 2016 will be a day for all the kids to remember. Whether fishing with their parents, grandparents or aunts and uncles, these kids did fish. Volunteers, lead by Mike Guidice, he has been doing this for eight years, kept the tackle safe, baited hooks, measured fish, and as-sisted with casting. Live shrimp seemed to be the favorite thing to catch this year, everyone was able to catch a shrimp from the bait bucket. As the pic-tures below show, many fish were caught and released in the Indian River. Fisherman’s Landing has been the place to be for catching lots of different fish, including a shark, sting rays, jacks and more. Fishing took place from 8:00 until 11:00, after which everyone returned to

the Moose Lodge for prizes and games, oh and food… Ready for kids, the lodge had ham-burgers and hotdogs, with all the trim-mings, and a special wormy pudding treat made by Sharon Murray. then there was water guns, water balloons and egg toss games. the kids were wet and full and tired out. As an example of how great this event is I asked a young lady what she thought about today… Kylee is a four year old, so don’t expect a novel… Kylee was all smiles today, she is in the picture below after catching a fish. Full of energy, yet at the dock she met Kyla. Kyla also full of energy, they fed off each other all day. When asked what her favorite things was today she said the face painting by Gracie and the water balloons. Both her and Kyla were painted like princesses. Pictures make the story come to life, and if you were there or knew someone who was, check out our pictures on the

website. (www.palmbaymoose.com) What makes events like this possible is the volunteers, and donations by every-day members. These volunteers help bring the event to life and present it so the kids have fun. Our next kids event will involve Princesses, witches, goblins, Super Heroes, and lots and lots of candy… that’s right Halloween is just around the corner. Join us October 29 12-2 and have some fun. Spooky Scary Fun. If you would like to volunteer, speak to Don Jones , Governor of the Palm Bay Moose Lodge. Pictures and Story by W. Scott Duncan

Join us at our meetings held the fourth Thursday of each month At our meetings we discuss the many Community Service Projects

we participate in and organize for our next planned ride.

Hello Moose Riders,

Thank you everyone that came to the meeting and supported our group, it was a good turn out. Just a few things going on in the next two months… we want to con-tinue with the Ice Cream Social for the next several months, as well as our Moose Rid-ers Breakfast and Steak Shoot. The Ice Cream Social was a great hit. To build on our great momentum, the Moose Riders will have a Dinner on September 17. We will be serving Stuffed Pork Chops, we hope to see you there to support us.

We have ordered more shirts. they have arrived and are ready to be purchased. They come in Orange, Grey, and red. We love to see them at events showing off our very proud Moose Riders.

We are going to do a ride for a Lady Veteran and her children on October 22. the ride will end at American Legion Post 117. we would appreciated any support and dona-tions you can give for her, updates on this event will be posted on our Moose Riders bulletin Board, in the Lodge by the pool tables.

We are seeking members to become part of a special heard of Moose Committee. Ed Milnor will be making a sample Moose for us and we will be starting this program soon. this is a good way to fund the Moose Riders. Once we have more details we will let everyone know

So much to talk about… Our building is coming along, inspections are being completed, appraisals are being done, and the bank is favorable on the loan. There is still more work to do, for the most up to date information, please attend the Lodge General Meetings. We should be talking about a move and remodeling very soon. Your Lodge board of Officers have decided to waive the usual $20 application fee for new members sponsored into the Lodge from September 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017. this membership program will help us maintain our current member levels and assist us in getting to our goal of being plus one member on April 30. Of course plus more would be better… As of August 19, 2016 we are sitting at 12 members down. Are you seeing the new changes to our dinner nights at the Moose Lodge? We have been trying new meal ideas to get you to come in an try our fantastic offerings. the volun-teers work very hard to present a great dinner at a value price. With fewer members par-ticipating, the live entertainment has been stopped. This is a disappointment for me be-cause I like to see people having fun while listening to great music. On Moose Legion Night, the Moose Legionnaires have been trying different activities to get more participation from members. If you have any ideas , please share them with the volunteers. If you are interested in supporting the lodge at a Fraternal level, Please ask how to join the Moose Legion. Moose Legionnaires step up to help around the lodge, this is also the next step to take to reach the Fellowship Degree (Blue Jacket) and the Pilgrim Degree (Gold Jacket). Our Florida Bermuda Moose Association Annual Convention will be held September 15-18 at the Rosen Plaza in Orlando. After which we will become part of the newly aligned District 6. Vero Beach Lodge will shift to the south into District 5, and Merritt Island and Cocoa will join us in District 6. Bill Brumfield form Melbourne Lodge will be our District President for the next year. Our final meeting in Vero will be helped on September 11, please join us there to them we appreciate all the years of working together in the same district. In October our focus will be on the District Picnic, at Fisherman's Landing on US 1 in Grant on October 9. Bring a dish to pass and there will be beer, hamburgers, Brats and salads for a small donation of $5 per person. Bring the kids and have some fun. I’d like to thank Mike Guidice for another fantastic Kid’s Fishing Tournament. t was nice to see some of the original kids from seven years ago helping the younger kids to fish. PALM BAY LODGE & CHAPTER HEART OF THE COMMUNITY NEWS

Throughout our fraternity, October 27th has long been recognized as Mooseheart Founder’s Day. On this date each year, our members are asked to pay tribute to James J. Davis – the man whose vision and determina-tion breathed new life into a Moose fraternity that was struggling for sur-vival during the early 20th century. His efforts would quickly thrust the Loyal Order of Moose – and later the

Women of the Moose – through a period of incredible growth – and would define the great purposes for which

our Order exists. This year our Lodge Board of Offi-cers and Women of the Moose Chap-ter Officers invite you to witness the Founder’s Day Ceremony, followed by

an evening to honor our Lodge and Chapter mem-bers whom have served in the United States Military. Details of the evenings event will be posted in the Lodge and on our lodge website prior to the begin-ning of October . In the meantime please read the letter written by a Pilgrim of our Order who resides at Moosehaven, he too is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. During our event we will recognize members who are also Veterans. have a short presentation followed by a meal. Please join us in honoring these fine individuals who are Veterans and choose to support our children at Mooseheart, our Seniors at Moosehaven, and many support our local commu-nity through other organi-zations like the American Legion, the VFW, DAV, and so on.

Palm Bay Lodge To Celebrate

Founder’s Day With An Event to Honor Lodge Military Veteran’s

The Moose and Veterans...

Veterans have been such a great part of the backbone of the

Moose Fraternity for so long with hundreds of thousands of

them joining through out these many years.

Why did they join? There are so many reasons why they

joined you could fill volumes, here are some that were told to

me.

... George Zorn a navel veteran at 101 and in his 80th year as

a Moose Member stated, “my longevity is do to the fact, I’ve

had no major worries in my life because I was a Moose mem-

ber, when I was young I always knew my children could go to

Mooseheart if anything happened to me and in my old age

there was always Moosehaven.”

So many Veterans have stated the Moose allowed me to

volunteer and give back to my community, others said “we

saw what war did to children” and we are so proud of the

Moose who raise children from lost and broken homes and

give them a new chance at life, we just wanted to do our part.

Moose veterans as well as all members are so proud of the

children at Mooseheart who left to served over the years with

some giving their lives in defense of our great country.

I am proud to have known Veterans from our Civil, Span-

ish American, 1914 with Mexico, WWI, WWII, Korean, Viet-

nam, Desert Storm and still counting.

So many have gone now and the men from our greatest gen-

eration of the WWII era are going too fast, I am so proud

that I live here at Moosehaven with 11 of these brave men

from WWII and a total of 60 veterans in all.

We at Moosehaven wish to salute and give a tip of the ant-

lers to all our Veterans and give thanks to all the Men and

Women of the Moose for what you do for us each and every

day, you all have so enhanced the quality and longevity of our

lives in theses our later years.

Proud to be a Moose and a Veteran.

Respectfully and Fraternally:
