Yes, there were some who could not make the event, with gas being sold out at stations, people preparing for the storm, but our members showed up , some travelers still made it to the lodge, and we celebrated with Lee Singleton as he was roasted, I mean toasted for receiving his Pil- grim Degree of Merit. The committee organized by Lodge Prelate Mike Guidice, Arthur White, and their team was fantastic. The Lodge presented Tommy Moose Dolls to the Malabar Fire Depart- ment, and offered a free BBQ with hamburgers, hotdogs, and pulled pork. There was a display area set up to explain what the Moose Fraternity is all about, it included information on Mooseheart and Moosehaven, and really highlighted our local efforts in the community. Looking at all that went into planning this event, the committee should be commended for all the hard work and effort that made it possible. Here we are at the one-year anniversary of moving into our new building. A lot has gone on in this past year, we lost the machines, we had a smoking vote, which went non-smoking at the Moose International Convention Moose, said that all lodges will be non-smoking by January 1, 2020.

Well at least from June till now, 2019 has been one hell of a year. I want to thank Palm Bay Moose Lodge for making it possible for me to received my Pilgrim Degree. I want to thank everyone that came out August 31 to celebrate this occasion with me. In spite of the hurricane which scared all of us half to death, almost 100 people came to say con-gratulations. I had a great time and I will say thank you again.

Lots going on, Moose International has said they would give us a grant, to put up a smoking area. Your board has gone to Palm Bay Aluminum and asked them to give us a price for installing a covered smoking area. The city of Palm Bay turned down the loca-tion of the first attempt at this. The aluminum company has proposed another area and we are waiting to see what Palm Bay has to say now. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that we can get this done before the first of the year.

We will be having our first ever membership drive to be held at Malabar Park to try to grow our membership. We are down close to 40 members at this time. The Lodge along with Women of the Moose, and the Moose Riders will be meeting with prospective new members. Let us keep our fingers crossed for this to be a great success for our Lodge.

Well most of you know at the State Convention there was a vote to bring the Co-workers into the Association. Also, we have changed the name of our association to Florida Moose Association. This seems like a lot of new things are happening, and yes they are. It was announced that there will be a Town Hall meeting in Orlando, Novem-ber 2, 2019 at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel. Moose International will be introducing what they call “One Moose”. This will be to our first opportunity to see what is being discussed, as our Fraternity moves towards a unified membership. This has been a long time coming, and will be good for the Fraternity.

November 10th, right here at the Palm Bay Lodge, we will host the Florida Moose Asso-ciation District Meeting. I hope to see a lot of us here to support our district and our new District President Floyd Hannaford, from the Cocoa Lodge. You will also have a chance to hear what type of events are happening at the lodges closest to us. See you there. Lee Singleton, Administrator.
