Hillary Hinds LLRC FULL CIRCLE 2020 Denegdh ase ghantłeth ha beghnta mamāhtawimihtānihk ki-toskayāmināwahk Empowering Our Youth Land, Language, Relationships and Culture Hillary Hinds is the Math Consultant at the MLTC. She was born in Jamaica and currently resides in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. Hillary is passionate about teaching values and the teaching and learning of mathemacs; focusing primarily on (a) the root causes of students struggling with math, (b) workplace mathemacs and First Naons Land-based Math, and (c) finding creave ways of teaching math. As a Math consultant at MLTC Hillary works with administrators, and provide support in Math to K-12 teachers primarily in the areas of instruconal strategies, assessment, data analysis, planning and RTI. Hillary is excited to be a part of the MLTC staff and to be working with the communies. Teaching Geometry from a First Naons Context: A Hands-on Approach In this session teachers will be engaged in hands-on applicaon of teaching Geometry in a First Naons context. We will demonstrate how learners can learn from their everyday environment, how teachers can build relaonships and make connecons with students while engaging learners in the math classroom.
