A LION LEADER IN THE NEWSCongratulations to Lions Clubs Past International President Barry Palmer ofAustralia for being the recipient of the Australian Order for his inspirationalservice to making the world a better place. The occasion of the award was QueenElizabeth's recent birthday celebration.

Volunteer Firefighters to join Lions at Picnic/BallgameAt the first June meeting it was decided several area volunteer firefighters would be taking a nine-inningvacation during our Annual Family and Friends Picnic and Ballgame outing at Smokies Stadium in Kodak.Lions pick up tickets 6:00pm near the gate from Lion Connie Emmons. The picnic is provided by Calhouns atthe Yard. Dress comfortably. The long-range forecast is calling for a temperature of near 90 degrees at gametime with less than 50% chance of thunderstorms. After last year's washout, we're hoping for better weather

REMINDER: Dues for July 1 – December 31, 2016 If you haven't yet paid dues for the coming 6 months, please give to Lion TreasurerJudy Moffett at your earliest opportunity. Dues for the period are $32 per member.Keeping dues paid up-to-date is necessary so the club can promptly pay the sixmonth invoices from Lions Clubs International and MD-12 (Tennessee) Lions.

Lion Moe Greenwood sets the example by writing a check at a recent club meeting.

The Centennial projectcommittee is seeking ideasfor the coming year.President Keith McCordappointed Lion SonyaRogers and Lion BuddyGreene to head the effort to

identify a legacy project for the club to tackle duringthe coming year. They welcome ideas andsuggestions of other Lions.

ROARING INTO OUR 100th YEAR OF SERVICEThe Lions Clubs International Convention gets underway in a few days inJapan. We look forward to the installation of Tennessee Lion Chancellor BobCorlew as Lions International President near the conclusion of the convention,and the installation of new District Governors all around the world. Theupcoming Lions Year marks the fourth time a Lion from Tennessee serves as theleader of the world's largest service organization.
