Dona Nobis Pacem by: Bil Curry

Last year (with the 3 kings and their exploding cigars) I wrote, “We’ll get serious again next year.” So here it is, “Dona Nobis Pacem” or “Grant Us Peace” for those of us not around during the Roman Empire. This song is a three part round but can also be played just as written. The instructions will show four ways to play the song.

Setup: Style: Smooth Piano 3 / 4 . . . Intro (#2 if on your Lowrey) . . . Tempo 90 +/- Style Setup #4 (strings) or #7 (vocals on the Elite series)

Smaller units: EZ Waltz (3 /4) . . . Intro . . . Tempo 90 +/- . . . Style Setup (0) or #3 or #4 One player: After the Intro (2), play to the end and press the Ending (2) button. Two players: Player-2 should stand/sit on the right and play on the Lower Right split keyboard. When Player-1 reaches k, Player-2 begins at j. Note: Player-1 repeats back to l to play just the chords before pressing “Ending”.

One player as a round (your model must be able to do Merge Recording): 1. Turn off all Harmony buttons. 2. In the Music Recorder, press “Record” and then play the song. At the end, go back to k and play to the end. Play the melody entirely on the Upper keyboard. 3. Press “Ending 2” when finished. When the Ending is over, press the “Stop” button in the Music Recorder. 4. Press “Record” again (wait for the metronome “tics”) and then press the “Accomp.” or “Lower” button (depends on your model). Now press the “Play” button. 5. When the melody you played the first time reaches k, begin playing at j on the Lower Right keyboard. Play one time through to the end and press the Music Recorder “Stop” button. No repeats this time. 6. Again press “Record” (wait for the metronome “tics”) and press the Upper button. Now press the “Play” button. 7. When the 2nd melody that you just recorded on the Lower keyboard reaches k, begin playing at j on the Upper keyboard. This time only play section j and then press “Stop” button in the Music Recorder. 8. Now press “Play” and you should hear a three part Christmas round.

Three players on three Lowrey Virtual Orchestras: 1. Only one player (Player-1) should play the style on their Lowrey. The other two players should select a string sound (factory D4) or sounds blend well with the lead player’s sound. Turn off all Harmony buttons. 2. After the Intro, the Player-1 will play the entire song. Player-1 will go back to k and play only the chords. The melodies will be played by the other two players. On the last measure, press the “Ending 2” button. 3. When Player-1 reaches k, Player-2 begins playing at j. Player-2 plays to the end and stops. 4. When the Player-2 reaches k, Player-3 begins playing at j. Player-3 plays to the end and stops. Note: Player-3 will have a solo at l while Player-1 is only playing the chords.
