Lowrey profession- als from across the U.S. and as far away as England gathered for educational sessions and product demonstrations. “We kicked off L.U. the evening before with a social gathering, and the weather was perfect,” explains Lowrey V.P. of Sales, Jim Wieda. Shery Stone of Romeo Music in Texas summed up L.U. this way, “Lowrey U was the best! Indian Summer (written in 1919 by Victor Herbert) is a sweet, medium tempo jazz song that became a #1 hit on the Billboard singles chart for Tommy Dorsey in 1939. Before we go on, I want thank Mike and Peggy Robichaud for suggesting this song!
If you have an Orch Plus button on your Lowrey, turning it off eliminates the fancy part of the styles. So what we want to do is turn it off on the last measure of the Intro and then back on when you press that button again for the Ending. Here’s the setup: Style: Chicago Swing or Frank & The Count at Tempo 110 (+/-) Setup: Vintage or Normal setup zero (Trombone)
Play it like Tommy Dorsey, smoothly (connect the notes). You can go to YouTube (https://www.youtube.com) and type in “Tommy Dorsey – Indian Summer” to hear the recording. Set your Transpose up to “D” and you will be playing the song in the same key!
