! Thankfully the

library has come into the new age. No longer are students just stuck with a load of encyclopedias to flip through. Some of the new research tools that are provided by the Media Center are Destiny Online, NC Wise Owl and the Clinton High School webpage under the link called Media Center. ! NC Wise Owl is a online subscripted resource device that is accessible to students and teachers. NC Wise Owl can help students with various needs when it comes to researching a particular topic.

Smart Board in CHS Library Computer Lab

Media Cast

! Just in the past two

years our school, especially the Library as acquired new technology to aid every individual in the school. The two technologies has advanced our learnings and has saved a lot of time for both students and teacher. This new technique of technology has also helped by saving energy.! Media Cast is a machine that allows the operator to record a video or DVD so that it can be uploaded onto the schools webpage. This enables teachers to watch the movie from their classroom. Media Cast, saves time because the teacher does not have to go down stairs to the library check to see if the movie is available, and if it is then go through the process of checking it out. The teacher

can just simply click on the video they wish to see and it appears on the Smart Board. ! The Smart Boards, are very helpful devises, they are used in every classroom through out CHS and most of Clinton City Schools. Smart Boards are just a vamped up version of the white board, that simply has more technical advantages. Many Students and teachers love having the Smart Boards in the classroom. They can be used for many educational advantages such as writing, video displays, interactive educational games and more.

A Library, to modify the famous metaphor of Socrates, should be the delivery room for the birth fo ideas-a place where history comes to life.

" Mr. Ray who is Clinton High School’s art

instructor has graciously allowed the wonderful art of his students to be displayed in our school’s library. Since this decision had been made complements have filled the library. With this new addition to the changes that have occurred in the library, the atmosphere had come alive. No longer does the library seem plain and boring but instead the library releases and expression of variety in culture and interest. Many students take extra time in the library to observe the beauty of the art and understand the purpose of the work.

Be as careful of the books you read as the company you keep.-Paxton Hood

! The Dewey Decimal System

is a book classification system. It is used to organize all forms of writing, making everything easy to find. With out this wonderful shelving system that the Library had implemented, going to the Library to find a book would be a drag.! How does it work?Books are classified into call numbers. The first line of the call number is arranged into a strict numerical order. The second line of the dewey call number, if there is one, is arranged alphabetically and then numerically as a decimal.

This corresponds with the authors name. The third line, if there is one, may indicate that the book had a new edition of had multiple copies. All dated editions are filed after undated editions in chronological order.

Using DestinyFrom Start to FinishBy: Brittany Jones, Kelly Jones, Brittny Oliver, Fatima Meza, Ashley Matthis

! Destiny is an easy

accessible program used to help the librarian organize and find books. Destiny is also assessable for students to find books on their own. it is also used as a check in and out programs for students and teachers.! Destiny can be located on the right hand column of the Clinton City Schools home page. Once you have clicked on the link there will be a list of schools that are in the city school district. Once you have clicked on the school in which you need, the library search catalog will appear. The search engines given

allow the user to start the search on their topic of choice. Once a topic and book had been located the individual can then check to see if the library has the book and then check it out.

Example of the Dewey Decimal System

“Destiny is also assessable for students to find books on

their own.”
