ONE DAY NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON LASER MATERIAL PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY (NWLMPT-2016) 27 th September, 2016 Coordinator: Prof. B. Doloi ORGANISED BY PRODUCTION ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY KOLKATA- 700 032 UNDER Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP Phase-II) JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY, KOLKATA Manufacturing industry in India has been facing unprecedented challenges by ever changing global and competitive market conditions as well as changing social demands and environmental regulations. Laser Material Processing Technology presents a great challenge to engineers and researchers as they manipulate material in macro, meso and micron scales to produce components and systems. Keeping in view of these challenges, one day national workshop on Laser Material Processing Technology will fulfill the present day needs for up gradation of knowledge base of teachers, research scholars and PG students from engineering colleges, scientists from various R&D laboratories. The present workshop will help to accustom the participants with fundamental principles of Laser Generation for Material Processing, Technologies for Laser Material Processing with system details and various applications in the area of Manufacturing. Current research activities and future trends in this area of Laser Material Processing will also be explored. This workshop will open up new horizon of challenges and opportunities to the participants to carry out further studies and researches in the latest areas of Laser Material Processing Technology. ABOUT ORGANISER The Department of Production Engineering was established under the dynamic leadership of Late Professor Amitabha Bhattacharyya in 1978 with B. Prod. E degree. Subsequently M. Prod. E. degree was introduced in 1983. The department has been recognized by the UGC and AICTE , New- Delhi. From the very inception, the Department received several recognitions such as DSA, COSIST, CAS (Ph I, Ph II, Ph III, Ph IV), FIST and many more from UGC, DST, MHRD, BARC, CSIR, AR & DB etc, for its potential and excellence in teaching and research activities. It grew to a pioneering centre of learning of Manufacturing Sciences and Production Management in the academic map of India. CONTENTS OF WORKSHOP The workshop will contain technical sessions and laboratory visits. In technical sessions, several renowned researchers and experts will deliver lectures related to the development in Laser Material Processing Technology area. Some of the latest developments in this area will also be highlighted through laboratory visits.
