Coming to school early is a very good opportunity for the children to engage in outdoor play with their friends.

Studies have shown that engaging in play is an important element in the overall development of the children.

Through play, the children bond with their friends

(not only with their peers but with friends from the different classes),

learning social norms (e.g. sharing, waiting for their turns)

and developing their communication skills.

Do bring your children in early and let’s have fun!

English Language & Literacy

- Phonics

Love 1

a) Letter Pp – Name and sound

b) Words that start with letter P (potatoes, pancakes, penguins, pot, pan)

c) Songs:

i. “Potatoes in a pot, p, p, p”

ii. “Pancakes in a pan, p, p, p”


d) Activity:

i. Place potatoes in pot, and pancakes in pan

ii. Pass the pot down, then the potatoes, into the pot

iii. Flip pancakes in the pan while singing the song

b) Words starting with Q (queen, question mark, quail, quiet)

d) Activity:

i) Jump on the hoops and say the name and sound of the letter Q

b) Activities: Listen and write the word given onto the whiteboard

Acelin told his classmates that his blue car doors cannot be opened.

Ian hugged his orange car. Did you know that his car is actually a robot in disguise?

Mira started her show and tell by meowing, she made all her classmates laughed.

Love 2

Left to right:

Csoban brought a red bus and pointed out its sliding door.

Isabel explained the use of her pipette filler, pointing out the different areas

where the water and air would travel.

Cheng Yi told his friends that his duck float is also a headband.

Elizabeth brought a koosh ball and named colours on it. She told her friends that she likes the green colour on

the ball. Her classmate mentioned that it looks like a sea urchin!


Fun & Movement

Individual Classes

Love 1 & 2

The children were given a smaller target to aim for as they practiced their overhead throws.

Jumping through the series of hoops, they then pick up a ball and attempt to throw it into the basket!


Joy & Peace

The older children practised their aim with a smaller target and an elevated height.

Some were able to throw the ball in the direction of the basket

but needed to exert more strength in their throws for it to land into the basket.


They then pass the ball to their friend who is next in line using a chest pass.

Peace

The Peace children tried a modified catching game!

Standing in a line with the teacher as the lead, the last child in line was called out.

Within 3 rounds, with the teacher as the catcher, the child must avoid being caught.

This encourages the whole group to run to allow space for their friend to run and try not to be caught!


Once caught, the round resets with a different child as the tail.

This helps develop the directional and spatial awareness as they avoided bumping into their friends

and making the turns in the rounds.

The children had a lot of fun!

(Even though we were all perspiring and panting at the end, they requested for another round!)

which will never never change!

the things they clapped on may seem a little strange…
