Dear Parents

For the Joy & Peace classes, we have concluded our curriculum for Term 2.

The final 2 weeks of each Term are spent on catching up on outstanding work

and having classroom bonding time through various fun activities.


English Language & Literacy

- Phonics

Peace:

a) Revision of CVC words

b) Activity : Find a CVC family (e.g. “at”) and give a CVC word (e.g. “hat”)

Joy:

a) Short vowel family “ag”

b) Activity: Pick a picture / word and find the match (bag, nag, rag, sag, tag, wag)


Love 1 & 2:

a) Sing ABC song

c) Sing Penguins and Pandas, P,P, P

Love 1

Left to right:

Sophie sat her dolly on her lap and told her friends that “the doll is wearing a pink hat with a flower!”

Kendrick brought a wind-up chick to school. He demonstrated how to play with it. He said, ”first, you turn this

knob, put it on the floor and the chick will hop!”

Gavriel brought a tiny blue Digimon. He pointed out that the ears of the Digimon are very sharp and pointy.

Left to right:

Vianna showed how her blue aeroplane flies! She also indicated the 2 wheels on her plane.

Kriston excitedly introduced his red Elmo stamp! He told his friends that the shape of his stamp is round.

Everyone was eagerly waiting for Kriston to stamp the red Elmo onto their hands!


Yatin brought a yellow school bus! He noticed red letters on top of the bus and blue numbers on its side. He

then proceeded to name the different colours on the bus!

Mathematics

- Math is Fun:

Peace

- Recap: Addition, Subtraction, Money sense

- Activity: Telematch! Buy a key, and solve the sums to unlock the correct lock!

Joy

a) Addition (more than 5)

b) Activity: Form their own addition sums by skewering black and red foam pieces, then adding them all up

- Number recognition 1-10

- Activity : Find and smack on the number that is called

- Activities

a) Story: “Monkey See, Look At Me” by Lorena Siminovich. Different animals have different talents.

b) Worksheet: Count and paste the correct number (2-4) of flags

c) Colour recognition: Fix the Lego pieces shown on the Lego cards


Love 2

- Learning Corner:

a) Fit the base ten blocks to form the numbers given [4,5,9]

b) Sorting shapes : squares and rectangles

c) Follow the pattern given

Fun & Movement

The game play is very much a catching game!

Children were split into different colour groups (the thieves).


A handful was selected to be the policemen. (placed between the colour boxes and the safety line)

When the colour was called, the theives in the respective colour will have to run across to the safety line.

BUT….


In the final round, teacher Ainslie and teacher Yingsui became the police!

And a police station was set up to house those who were caught!


This is a training technique for children to exercise short bursts of speed.

Rolling in the sausage and carefully cutting into 4 equal pieces – quite a challenge for most !!!

When that part was sung, the children had to form their trains as fast as possible!


The train ride journey had brought them through

the jungle, underwater, outer space, magic wood, land of cakes, fairyland

and finally the station.
