KANANOOK PRIMARY SCHOOL Community Radio PROGRAM RPP

“Kids Hour” Radio Program at RPP FM Run by Lachlan, Molly, Lily-Rose and Amira

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT PARENT OPINION SURVEYS Each year the school conducts an opinion survey of 15 percent of the school community. Parents are randomly selected to participate and we use the information collected to inform and direct our future planning and improvement. The survey is designed to take no more than 20 minutes to complete and your feedback and opinions play an important role in making this school the best it can possibly be. VICTORIAN STATE SCHOOLS SPECTACULAR -GET YOUR TICKETS We are proud and excited to have some of our students participating in the 2015 Victorian State Schools Spectacular: What’s Your Story? This year’s Spectacular will be held at Hisense Arena on Saturday 12th September, with two shows at 1pm and 6:30pm. The three-hour Spectacular will be filmed for broadcast by Channel 7. For a fun, family entertainment experience, and to cheer on our students from the audience, be quick to secure tickets. Talented young circus performers, skaters, musicians, dancers and singers will feature on stage, while many other students will work behind the scenes, gaining unique, on-the-job and professional experience. This program, run by the Department of Education and Training, helps to develop each student’s performance skills, discipline, perseverance, cooperation and confidence under the training of industry professionals. RADIO SHOW RPP FM Four children from Kananook Primary will be running a radio show at RPP FM community station next Monday – August 3rd. Tune in to hear all the news and events at Kananook. You will be guaranteed to have a laugh and I think you will find the program very interesting.

Monday 3rd August – 11.15 a.m. – 98.7 FM and 98.3 FM. STUDENT ABSENCE It is that time of the year where students start to get sick which results in them needing some time off school. I take this opportunity to remind you that if you need to keep your child home because they are sick you must then provide a reason for the absence to the classroom teacher or the school office. You can do this in a number of ways: 1. Phone the school on 9786 6066 to report the absence 2. Report the reason directly to the teacher when your child returns to school Provide written notification to explain the absence. Further to this we ask that if your child is unwell before school that you do keep them home as we are constantly calling parents asking them to collect their sick child from school. Often the children will tell us that they did not feel well before school, told their parents but were still sent to school. This actually results in other children getting sick and we would like to avoid this happening. With the above being said, we are certainly not encouraging you to keep your children home unless they are genuinely sick.

PTF News DISCO We look forward to seeing all of our disco participants at the school hall tomorrow night at 6.30pm. Students who are attending will receive a notice to take home tomorrow. Entry to the school will only be via the back gate on Lyster Close. All students must be signed in and out of the disco by an adult, and will not be allowed to leave the hall during the disco. Please remember to collect your child at 8.30pm sharp! OUR SCHOOL RAFFLE Our biggest fundraising opportunity this year, in partnership with Scouts Victoria, “Our School Raffle” is a fantastic opportunity for our school to raise money and offer amazing prizes.

For every $2 ticket sold, $1.50 will come back to our school. A ticket book for each family is coming home with the newsletter tonight, please look out for them in your child’s schoolbag. As this is a registered raffle, all ticket books, money and ticket stubbs sold or unsold, must be returned to school by Friday 14th August 2015. There will be a prize for the student selling the most tickets! The winning tickets will be drawn at Victorian Scout Centre on 11 September 2015 at 3:30pm. The draw results will be published on the website at www.ourschoolraffle.com.au on 14 September 2015. WOOLWORTHS EARN AND LEARN

Keep shopping at Woolworths and collecting stickers! Every $10 spent earns one sticker, please put your stickers or completed sticker sheets into the boxes at the Woolworths stores at Seaford or Frankston, or bring them in to school. The more we collect, the more we can spend on educational resources for our school. If you would like to join our mailing list to receive information and reminders about PTF events, or have any questions or suggestions, send us an email at [email protected]. Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday 13th August, 9.00am.
