UPCOMING EVENTS INFO 

Boys Varsity Baseball (2/12, 2/15, and 2/16) The RRHS Boys Varsity Baseball team will play 3 matches this week. The first match will be a home game against Pope High School tonight at 5:55 p.m. The next match will be this Friday at Woodstock HS against Etowah in the Woodstock CCSD tournament, with the game starting around 5:00 p.m. Their final game this week will be played this upcoming Saturday. It is a home game against Woodstock that will begin at 8:00 p.m. Good luck on your three matches! 

Varsity Soccer (2/12 and 2/15) There are three Varsity Soccer games being played this upcoming week. The first match will be tonight at 6:00 p.m. at home, with the Varsity boys facing off with Chattahoochee. The next two matches will be this Friday at 7:30, with both teams playing an away game. The girls will face Rome HS while the boys will face Hillgrove HS. 

Varsity Wrestling (2/13-16) Jake Piccirilli, Hudson Andrews, and Jacob Salmond of the RRHS Varsity Wrestling team qualified for the state tournament scheduled for this upcoming week. The tournament will be held in the Macon Centreplex from Wednesday to Saturday. 

Coed Varsity Tennis (2/13) Coed Varsity Tennis plays against Etowah HS after school at Towne Lake Hills. The first match will begin around 4:00 p.m. 

Coed Varsity Track (2/13) The RRHS Coed Varsity Track team have their first track meet tomorrow around 4:00 p.m. They will face off against Sequoyah and Woodstock in a home match. Best of luck to all those who will be competing!

Dodgeball Tournament (2/13) Tomorrow in the RRHS gymnasium, there will be a dodgeball tournament to help raise funds for the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Teams of ten River Ridge students will competing in the tournament, so come down to watch your peers play for only $2. 

Girls Varsity Lacrosse (2/13 and 2/15) The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team plays two matches this week; the first one being an away game vs. Dalton HS and the second match is a home game against North Atlanta. The first game is tomorrow night while the second match will be on Friday.

Boys Varsity Lacrosse (2/14 and 2/18) Boys Varsity Lacrosse has two matches this coming week on Monday and Thursday. The first match is at Wheeler HS at 7:30 p.m. The second match is also an away game vs. Allatoona starting around 5:55 p.m.

 

JV Soccer (2/14 and 2/15) Both JV Soccer teams have a match Thursday and Friday. The boys’ Thursday game will begin around 5:30 p.m. with the girls’ game following soon after at 7:00 p.m. Both are home games against Kell HS. Both Friday JV Soccer matches are away games starting at 7:30 p.m. The boys will face off against Hillgrove while the girls will play Rome.

Swim Team – Friday State Prelims (1/8)  Outstanding prelims for the team at State! The Knight’s state team swam strong 

on Friday! Boys: 2 relays & 3 swimmers in individual events 

● 200 Free Relay – Bridger Putzer, John Biddiscombe, Aren Buuck & Alex Blankinship 

● 400 Free Relay – Bridger Putzer, Carson Portis, Ben Johnson & Alex Blankinship ● 50 & 100 Free – Alex Blankinship ● 500 Free – Bridger Putzer and Ben Johnson – Congratulations Ben on a new team 

record in the 500 Free!

Swim Team – Saturday State Finals (1/9)  

Saturday saw more excitement at State as River Ridge had 2 relays advance to finals! The Knights also had 2 swimmers qualify for finals in 3 individual events. Congratulations! 

● 7th place 6A 200 Medley Relay – Maddy Rogers, Sarah Brown, Ginny Beeler & Ashley Fortin (new team record) 

● 8th place 6A 400 Free Relay – Ashley Fortin, Katie Blankinship, Maddy Rogers & Sarah Brown (new team record) 

● 8th place 6A 100 Backstroke – Ashley Fortin (new team record) ● 4th place 6A 100 Breaststroke – Sarah Brown (new team record) ● 3rd place 6A 200 Individual Medley – Sarah Brown (new team record) 

Congratulations Sarah for being the first state medalist in team history! Congrats to relays making TOP TEN finishes!!

NGWSD Team of the Year (1/6) Congratulations to the RRHS Swim Team for being NGWSD 2018-2019 Team of the Year! 

Varsity Wrestling (2/10)   Our varsity wrestling team pulled a major upset at Sectionals! Five of our Knights traveled south to the GHSA Class 6A Section B tournament hosted by Valdosta this past weekend. Three of our Knights secured wins in the first round of the tournament Friday evening. Sophomore 145 Jake Piccirilli picked up a 1st round victory and sophomore 170 Jesus Perez-Coronel won by pin in the 1st round over. Senior 285 Jacob Salmond won his first 1st round match. Later that evening in the quarter finals, Jake Piccirilli beat Cambridge’s Nick Owens and Jacob Salmond picked up another pin over MLK’s Keion Cush to move on to the semi-finals. Hudson Andrews picked up a win over Stephenson’s Titus Sanders to stay alive in the tournament and move on to Saturday. Day 2 of the tournament would start with Hudson Andrews picking up a win in the 2nd round of wrestle backs.

Boys Varsity Baseball (2/8) The Knights had a scrimmage against Kell on Friday, but unfortunately, they lost 6-2. 

Girls Soccer (2/7) The Varsity team lost 1-0, while the JV team lost 6-0. We’ll get them next time, ladies! 

Boys Soccer (2/8) Even though though the boy’s varsity team fought , they ended up losing 3-0.  

 

Varsity Lacrosse (2/11) The varsity girls put up a good fight against Allatoona, but ended up losing 13-8. 

 

STAR Students and Teachers (1/8) Congratulations to Cherokee County’s teachers and students of the year!
