JlMu* e-JOW During recent years June and September have grown greatly in favor as vacation months in Maine. As a result the vacation season now begins earlier and closes later than was formerly the case. The vacauoner who chooses either month will be well satis fied with the result. During those months he has a greater choice of accommodations, all vacation facilities are available, and the weather is ideal. Maine could well be called the honeymoon State because each June thousands of newly- weds choose the Pine Tree State. For accommodations they have their choice of resort hotels or vacation lodges to be found in all parts of the State. Rates are reasonable and with- in the reach of the average young couple. Fishing in Maine in June is at its best with trout, salmon, bass, perch and pickerel fish- ing to be found almost every- where in the inland waters and striped bass, mackerel, floun- der, cod, pollack and haddock in the sea. In both June and September the many excellent golf courses are in tip-top condition. Public and private clubs everywhere welcome the visitor to the State. In September and October the visitor sees the magnificently oeautiful transformation of the foliage from its sober green to riotous colors of every shade. Experts say that nowhere in the world does Fall coloration exceed that found in Maine. The U. S. Weather Bureau says Maine has the most healthful climate in the nation and those who vacation in the State dur- ing the Spring or Fall subscribe to that statement. Days are pleasantly warm and lacking in humidity. Evenings are just cool enough for restful, brac- ing sleep. Usually there is very little rainfall. \ 3 In both Sprihg and Fall Maine's famous foods are at their best. Lobsters, clams, corn- on - the - cob, other delectable vegetables arid fresh fruits tempt "the visitor to have an extra helping. POCONO MOUNTAINS O OZY INN FARM NEWFOUNDLAND. BOX MS. PA. During recent years June and September have grown greatly in favor as vacation months in Maine. As a result the vacation season now begins earlier and closes later than was formerly the case.

The vacauoner who chooses either month will be well satis fied with the result. During those months he has a greater choice of accommodations, all vacation facilities are available, and the weather is ideal.

Maine could well be called the honeymoon State because each June thousands of newly-weds choose the Pine Tree State. For accommodations they have their choice of resort hotels or vacation lodges to be found in all parts of the State. Rates are reasonable and within the reach of the average young couple.

Fishing in Maine in June is at its best with trout, salmon, bass, perch and pickerel fishing to be found almost everywhere in the inland waters and striped bass, mackerel, flounder, cod, pollack and haddock in the sea.

The U. S. Weather Bureau says Maine has the most healthful climate in the nation and those who vacation in the State during the Spring or Fall subscribe to that statement. Days are pleasantly warm and lacking in humidity. Evenings are just cool enough for restful, brac

ing sleep. Usually there is very little rainfall. \ 3

In both Sprihg and Fall Maine's famous foods are at their best. Lobsters, clams, corn-on - the - cob, other delectable vegetables arid fresh fruits tempt "the visitor to have an extra helping.

As in former years "Cruise-Way" fun and relaxation is being featured at the Lodge under the direction of Joe Dunleavy who has served under Cruise Directors of the Holland America Line for the past several years during the winter cruise seasons. Substituting good cool mountain air for the tang of the sea, all the thrill and glamour of shipboard activity is enjoyed every day at the Lodge. The large swimming pool, fast clay tennis courts, sportsfield, shuffleboard courts, dances, and informal games appeal to guests of all ages, and even though participation is entirely optional, a great number of prizes and souvenirs is awarded each week to contestants in , the games and tournaments.
