Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and star tenor Juan Diego Flórez.
"It took half a year to prepare for this 3D shoot and to make sure that all the creative and
technical requirements are met, but it was fun to use this in a first try-out in the business
that actually worked."

RTBF IS LOOKING FOR PARTNERS TO EXPLORE THE
KOREAN MYSTERY
Ten years ago it was extremely unusual to come across a Korean finalist in an
international music competition. Today you can safely bet on the opposite. What
happened? Why this new policy from the Korean authorities? What are the main
difficulties for these students who decide to devote their life to a form of art that
doesn’t belong to their cultural heritage? What sort of course does their training
follow? How does their career develop?
A new documentary project by RTBF (Radio-Télévision Belge de la Communauté
française de Belgique) will investigate these questions. Thanks to their long-lasting
collaboration with the Queen Elisabeth Competition, they have plenty of archive
material to illustrate this unexpected growth. RTBF plan to go to Korea and visit
the two main sources of brilliant musicians: the Korea National University of Arts
of Seoul (KARTS) and the Seoul National University. They will also follow some
students in Munich whose Hochschule für Musik seems to host most of the
Korean competitors. Finally they will see them in Brussels for one of the next
Queen Elisabeth Competitions.

Young Musicians Take Lead On New European Agenda For Youth
And Music
The Working Group Youth (WGY) of the European Music Council is in the midst of
its Access! project which is centred upon the creation of a European Agenda
for Youth and Music. The project was launched at the European Youth Forum
on Music in Turin in October 2010 where participants, mostly aged under 30,
debated the most important concerns for young people in the music sector today.
These were formulated into concrete recommendations which were used by a
working group to create a first draft of the European Agenda for Youth and Music.
The main topic areas for the agenda are Music Education, Employment, and
Resources. Whilst a wide range of interests and countries were represented in
Turin, the Working Group Youth still sees the need to widen the consultation to get
as much feedback from all parts of the sector as possible in order to produce the
most representative and effective document. The Working Group Youth are

Please take time to read the draft agenda which is available on the website

or post on our blog www.wgy-emc-forum.org.
The deadline for this period of consultation is Friday 21 January 2011.

its implementation.
