Iligan family hailed as model household

A FAMILY from Buruun, Iligan City was recognized Thursday as the Regional Model Filipino Family for Northern

Mindanao.

Mr. Glenn and DVincet Quihoy and sons GJ Joash, Clint John, Chris Angelico and Jacks Zechariah topped the

search for Huwarang Pamilyang Pilipino organized and judged by the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on the

Filipino Family.

The contest criteria include: Love and respect of the husband and wife; couple's love and respect for their children

and the family's love and respect for one another. The Quihoy family also scored high for their involvement in

community affairs.

We are not a perfect family but still we thank everybody for their recognition, DVincet Quihoy, said. What

probably made us become the model family is our devotion towards each other and towards God.

Glenn, Barangay Chief of Buruun and DVincet, the dean of College of Arts and Sciences in Iligan City Medical

Center, said that their family went through a lot just like other families but said that they have always believed that

the end of it all was God.

My husband and I always make sure that we set ourselves as an example to our children. So we always pray and

put God in the center of our marriage and family, she said.

As the Huwarang Pamilyang Pilipino, the Quihoy family will be reaching out to the communities in Northern

Mindanao by endorsing barangay action plans on family interventions and activities and serve as advocates on

family values.

The second and first runners up were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Narabe, Jr. of Gingoog City and Mr. and Mrs. ZoiloErigbuagas of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

The Regional Inter-Agency Committee on the Filipino Family was represented from the Departments of Social

Welfare and Development, Agriculture, Interior and Local Governance, Environment and Natural Resources, and

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Misamis Oriental.

The search was conducted by the DSWD-X in celebration of the National Filipino Family Week anchored on the

theme Si Nanay: Matatag sa Lahat ng Bagay. (PR)
