How to Write a Killer Headline

in Under 10 Minutes

Know your target audience and current readers

Here are the things that you should research about your target audience.

• Age Group

• Gender

• Social Status

• Industry

Your headline should be specific

Headlines should be:

• Clear

• Concise

• Straight to the point

Use numbers

• Numbered headlines have been utilised by magazines and newspapers for decades.

• Numbers imply the length of the blog. They provide readers with the estimated time required to read the blog.

• Numbers are easier to memorise than words.

Use capitals at the start of every letter

• Headlines that look like this:

“3 Proven Ways to Clear Acne Scars Within 3 Months”

Is a lot better than:

“3 Proven ways to clear acne scars within 3 months”

Use interesting adjectives

Add emotive or powerful words in your headline. Here are some examples:

- Brilliant - Useful - Painful

- Epic - Simple - Important

- Essential - Horrific - Awesome

- Killer - Fantastic - Perfect

- Vital - Great - Quick

Use what, why, how or when

• They are what we call “trigger words” – words that influence the reader to read your blog.

• Use them if you do not want to use a “numbered headline”.
