PRINTER JARGON What is Full Bleed (and is it as painful as it sounds?)

Full Bleed is when the printed image goes beyond the page and is trimmed off for full coverage.

You must set up your document correctly in the beginning.

Here’s a sample in Adobe InDesign.

CREATE A NEW DOCUMENT click on <more options>

LIKE MAGIC the bleed & slug options appear

SET YOUR BLEED SIZE ⅛ inch all around is the standard = .125

CREATE! click <okay> and get to work!

Just be sure to take your images/colored background to the bleed line that is now extended past your page size.

EXPORTING YOUR PDF Go to <marks and bleeds> click <use document bleed settings>

REMEMBER! Whatever extends past your page to the bleed line will be trimmed off in the print production process.

Frame and size your graphics accordingly!
