THE BURREN PERFUMERY LTD Having  studied  perfumery  in  Grasse,  France,  in  the  1960's,  Brian Mooney  returned  to  his  homeland,  to  create  his  own  fragrances based on the scents and plants of the Burren, Co. Clare.  He set up Ireland's first working perfumery in a cottage near Carron, Co.  Clare  and  in  1995  Edward  Biggs,  now  co‐director  of  the perfumery became involved. Edward’s first task was to reformulate the existing fragrances. While keeping their essence and character, he felt they needed to be lighter and more floral to appeal to a new generation  of  younger  buyers.  It  was  at  this  point  that  Edward discovered that he had a rare gift, a "nose"  ‐ the ability to smell a fragrance  and  break  it  down  into  its  components  parts  by  smell alone.  To  make  fragrance,  distilled  oils  are  mixed  according  to  each perfume's  unique  formula,  using  an  alcohol  base  and  distilled water, before being left to mature for six months in big glass bottle.  Product lines include

 All soaps are made from vegetable oils  ‐ palm, coconut and olive  ‐ and,  except  for  the  more  exotic  ingredients  such  as  cassia  and orange, all the herbs that scent them are grown in the perfumery's own  herb  garden  which  is  designed  and  maintained  by  a  local gardener and many of the plants growing are native wild flowers.  The  Burren  Perfumery  has  enjoyed  great  international  success, suppling  150  shops  in  North  America  and  stockists  throughout Europe and in Australia, as well as loyal mail‐order following.

Fragrances of Ireland  Fragrances  of  Ireland  is  an  independent  perfume  house  whose products are  inspired by  the magic, beauty and nature of  Ireland.   Established  in  1983  Fragrances  of  Ireland  aim  to  give  beautiful representations of Ireland through their products, which range from fine  fragrances  to  premium  soaps  and  toiletries,  packaged  with bright  colours  and  wonderful  photography  and  messages  that customers can relate to.   Master perfumer Arthur Burnham is one of the few independent perfumers in the world, who trained in Grasse, France for ten years alongside other perfumers such as Jacques Polge, now the Chief Perfumer at Chanel (Jacques later told Arthur of how impressed he was with the fragrance of Inis and that he would have been proud to call it his own).  International success  QVC, the TV shopping channel in the USA, had record sellouts with up  to 10,000 bottles  sold  in 30 minutes;  in  the 10 years  since  it’s launch, over 1 million bottles of  Inis, an exciting  cologne  for men and women  have  been  sold  by  this  small  but  creative  company, against  the  might  of  competitors  such  as  P&G,  L’Oreal,  Estee Lauder.  International Recognition: Inis Arose, created in 2002 which was nominated for a Fragrance Foundation ("FiFi") award, the perfume Oscars. Along with Sophie L’Abbé, winner of the François Coty prize for Best Creator of Perfumes in 2005.          Products include

Seavite Seavite  was  created  in  1993  by  Patrick  Mulrooney,  a  marine scientist who believed in the healing powers of the sea.  

He, and his wife Kaye  set about bottling  the goodness of  the  sea, and  after  years  of  research  Patrick  combined  his  in‐depth knowledge of marine science and nature to create Seavite‐Irelands original organic seaweed based skincare range, describing its use of the  skin  balancing  complex  algolibrium  in  its  products  as  a  “very exciting breakthrough” in skincare.
