Transcript of Happiness at work infographic q3
Your happiness means a great deal to
us - especially your career happiness;
which is why every quarter, we
measure workplace happiness all over
the UK to get a better understanding
of how you’re feeling about your job.
We work with Opinion Matters, who
track happiness and morale levels
across the sexes, age ranges, and
regions, and we’re delighted to see
that for many of you, happiness levels
are on the up.
With an 8% rise on last quarter, four
in ten UK workers said that they were
happy, which is a positive improvement
on this time last year when only 37%
of you described yourselves as being
happy, and a quarter (24%) of you
were distinctly unhappy.
In spite of youth unemployment
being on the rise, those who are in
work are getting happier; in fact,
16-24 year olds are the happiest
age group at 54%, followed by
older workers - with the over 55s
recording a 49% happiness rating.
In terms of regional breakdown,
Londoners are the happiest in the
UK at 52% - 8% higher than the
national average - followed by those
in Wales (47%). Workers in the East
Midlands are the least happy (25%),
followed closely by workers in the
South West (22%).
Steven Kirkpatrick, Managing Director
of Office Angels, commented: “The
UK has experienced a remarkable
summer; from the Queen’s Diamond
Jubilee, to the Olympics and
Paralympics Games. Whether our
increased happiness is the result of the
golden summer is impossible to say,
but with a more positive outlook for
the jobs market than there has been
for some time, hopefully this trend is
set to continue”.
