He raced well in a very solid group for this price last fall; if he makes the lead he could be tough. #3 COLLEEN’S SAILOR had a beautiful duel-stalking trip on June 7, proving best in the final furlong. He drops from $7,000 in for $5,000 and looks like the likely favourite. #5 TOBRUK kicked off his season in the same race as Colleen’s Sailor, not breaking particularly quickly and was unable to get anywhere near the early lead where he likes to be. If he can run one of his better efforts he can be competitive but he will need to be more forwardly placed. #2 JUROJIN was able to win his non-three in July but was non-competitive in a pair of open races and was put away in the fall. If the speed fails to hold up he could earn a share. Race 2 #6 Count Forest #1 Pool Playa #7 Water Polo #4 Meet Cute #6 COUNT FOREST ran in the season opener, dueling for 5/16ths of a mile, putting away the other speed and holding the lead until late. He is dangerous when he controls the pace and could do that here. #1 POOL PLAYA ran a number of good races last year; even his Fort Erie races were against comparable competition. If he’s at his best he should be a big factor with this group. #7 WATER POLO did not really run quite as bad as the running line would suggest in his last start at Penn National in January but was put away afterwards. He has had a few breezes at Fort Erie and takes a drop in class. #4 MEET CUTE ran third in the same January 17 race that Water Polo exits, but gradually tailed off in three subsequent starts at Laurel and Gulfstream. He may appreciate the return to the Tapeta. Race 3 #5 Jack Beanstalk #2 Mia’s Extorionist #4 Gideon’s Sword #1 Stoneaway #5 JACK BEANSTALK was forced to duel between horses down the backstretch in his last start at Gulfstream, emptying out on the far turn. Assuming the surfaces south of the border were the problem, he may offer some value off of the string of terrible races. #4 GIDEON’S SWORD was able to hit the board in five of eight starts last year. He looks like an obvious contender. #1 STONEAWAY will make his debut here. He got some foundation into him in Ocala this winter and does not have to beat any superstars. Race 4 #9 Cat’s Whisper #8 Victor’s Destiny #1 Our Zuma #2 Camp Nardo #9 CAT’S WHISPER has not won since 2017 and was in poor form last year. Last year his season opener was not a bad race; he was able to make a bit of an outside rally on an inside favouring track. It seems he runs better when he’s fresh and may be worth a shot as a bomb. #8 VICTOR’S DESTINY was never a threat to the romping winner on June 6 but was able to outrun his 32-1 odds when finishing third. He has not run many poor efforts over this surface. #1 OUR ZUMA was about two lengths behind Victor’s Destiny when finishing fourth on opening day. Although a cheap horse he has proven to be a fairly consistent closing sprinter. #2 CAMP NARDO had a disappointing 2019 campaign but had a few okay efforts and some poor trips. He returns as a gelding and drops in value.

Race 1

#1 Devil Magic

#3 Colleen’s Sailor

#5 Tobruk

#2 Jurojin

#1 DEVIL MAGIC broke slowly on June 7 when facing

first level allowance foes in a group where one horse was

able to control the pace and there wasn’t a ton of late

movement. He raced well in a very solid group for this

price last fall; if he makes the lead he could be tough. #3

COLLEEN’S SAILOR had a beautiful duel-stalking trip on

June 7, proving best in the final furlong. He drops from

$7,000 in for $5,000 and looks like the likely favourite. #5

TOBRUK kicked off his season in the same race as

Colleen’s Sailor, not breaking particularly quickly and was

unable to get anywhere near the early lead where he

likes to be. If he can run one of his better efforts he can

be competitive but he will need to be more forwardly

placed. #2 JUROJIN was able to win his non-three in July

but was non-competitive in a pair of open races and was

put away in the fall. If the speed fails to hold up he could

earn a share.

Race 2

#6 Count Forest

#1 Pool Playa

#7 Water Polo

#4 Meet Cute

#6 COUNT FOREST ran in the season opener, dueling

for 5/16ths of a mile, putting away the other speed and

holding the lead until late. He is dangerous when he

controls the pace and could do that here. #1 POOL

PLAYA ran a number of good races last year; even his

Fort Erie races were against comparable competition. If

he’s at his best he should be a big factor with this group.

#7 WATER POLO did not really run quite as bad as the

running line would suggest in his last start at Penn

National in January but was put away afterwards. He has

had a few breezes at Fort Erie and takes a drop in class.

#4 MEET CUTE ran third in the same January 17 race

that Water Polo exits, but gradually tailed off in three

subsequent starts at Laurel and Gulfstream. He may

appreciate the return to the Tapeta.

Race 3

#5 Jack Beanstalk

#2 Mia’s Extorionist

#4 Gideon’s Sword

#1 Stoneaway

#5 JACK BEANSTALK was forced to duel between

horses down the backstretch in his last start at

Gulfstream, emptying out on the far turn. He has sprinted

effectively in previous starts. #2 MIA’S EXTORTIONIST

showed some ability in her Woodbine races as a two year

old but was completely unable to race effectively over the

dirt or turf at Gulfstream. Assuming the surfaces south of

the border were the problem, he may offer some value off

of the string of terrible races. #4 GIDEON’S SWORD was

able to hit the board in five of eight starts last year. He

looks like an obvious contender. #1 STONEAWAY will

make his debut here. He got some foundation into him in

Ocala this winter and does not have to beat any

superstars.

Race 4

#9 Cat’s Whisper

#8 Victor’s Destiny

#1 Our Zuma

#2 Camp Nardo

#9 CAT’S WHISPER has not won since 2017 and was in

poor form last year. Last year his season opener was not

a bad race; he was able to make a bit of an outside rally

on an inside favouring track. It seems he runs better

when he’s fresh and may be worth a shot as a bomb. #8

VICTOR’S DESTINY was never a threat to the romping

winner on June 6 but was able to outrun his 32-1 odds

when finishing third. He has not run many poor efforts

over this surface. #1 OUR ZUMA was about two lengths

behind Victor’s Destiny when finishing fourth on opening

day. Although a cheap horse he has proven to be a fairly

consistent closing sprinter. #2 CAMP NARDO had a

disappointing 2019 campaign but had a few okay efforts

and some poor trips. He returns as a gelding and drops in

value.

Race 5

#8 Screen Diva

#1 Win Lose Or Straw

#5 Shishka

#7 Merino Wool

#8 SCREEN DIVA showed some speed but fell back in

her debut, then was stopped for much of the stretch run

when trying to rally, appearing to have some horse when

she shook loose. She will likely be an obvious wise-guy

horse but has a ton of room to improve. #1 WIN LOSE

OR STRAW got put in two tight spots and was bumped

around a bit down the backstretch in her debut, raced

wide on the turn and was not persevered on much past

the ¼ pole. She took a bit of money in that race; maybe

not totally impossible here. #5 SHISHKA kicked off the

season with a good third place finish behind a romping

winner on June 6. Although she has only hit the board in

three of her 16 starts she has run quite a few good races.

#7 MERINO WOOL kicked off the season for $25,000 in

the same race Screen Diva exits, stalking the pace before

emptying out. She drops in value and adds blinkers for

the first time.

Race 6

#3 Secret Path

#9 Precious Badge

#7 Fahrenheit

#4 Bel Bimbo

#3 SECRET PATH broke his maiden for $40,000 in

November facing a few suspect foes. He was entered in

an optional $40,000 with some promising young horses

on Sunday and scratched in favour of this spot; logical

contender. #9 PRECIOUS BADGE broke alertly, fell back

and rallied to be third behind two winter-raced foes on

June 7. He is arguably the one to beat now that he has a

start under his belt. #7 FAHRENHEIT raced between foes

and came up empty on June 7. His form last year was a

mixed bag and he is clearly better than that last race;

worth a look. #4 BEL BIMBO was disappointing on

November 13 when attracting a $40,000 claim and

showed nothing in his start at Oaklawn in April. He was

able to win his only Tapeta sprint back in October when

racing near the front end; perhaps getting back to a sprint

will be the key.

Race 7

#4 Sparkle Sammy

#6 Mizzona

#1 Westlodge Intrigue

#3 Hassah (GB)

#4 SPARKLE SAMMY got loose on the lead and

dominated a five-furlong first level allowance last July but

had mixed results for the rest of the season. She looks

like she has a clear pace advantage against this group.

#6 MIZZONA finished no worse than fourth in six starts

last season, facing similar company throughout the

season. If she is ready to fire off of the layoff she will be

competitive. #1 WESTLODGE INTRIGUE showed very

little in four starts over the dirt at Oaklawn. If you ignore

those Oaklawn races you could make a case that she

could be the favourite in this race; the question is whether

the dirt is the reason she was running poorly or if she had

already gone over the top at the end of 2019. #3

HASSAH (GB) is a handy mare who almost goes off at

large odds and frequently outruns them. She is a closer

who may not get the pace setup she needs but is worth

consideration based off of her honesty alone.

Race 8

#8 Bayou Belle - Best Bet

#3 Queen Andher Court

#6 Blushing Brew

#11 La Bonita

#7 Eleanor Powell

#8 BAYOU BELLE was second behind a respectable foe

on debut. She stretched out to a route where she was

third behind Curlin’s Voyage, then had a wide trip on the

inner turf. She looks like the one to beat. #3 QUEEN

ANDHER COURT raced in a questionable group of

$25,000 foes on June 6 but hooks quite a few

questionable foes here. In the June 6 race she was easily

the best closer, only beaten by a second time starting,

winter fit, lone speed type. #6 BLUSHING BREW had a

pair of third place finishes around a route of ground last

year. Her debut was her only sprint try and it was nothing

to write home about, but it could have been more due to it

being on turf than the distance. #11 LA BONITA made

two starts at two, both in routes, and showing ability both

times. Her speed figures contend with this group. #7

ELEANOR POWELL showed a bit of run in her debut

which came sprinting but was empty second time out in a

route. She shortens back to a sprint and adds blinkers for

the first time,
