Generic Conventions of a Teaser Trailer

Conventions:

-Voiceovers tell the story of the film and information the audience need to know

-Dialogue used to add excitement to the trailer

-Dramatic camera angles chosen to reveal certain characters

-Music chosen in a film trailer creates atmosphere

-The title of the film is usually placed at the end of the trailer

-A trailer always ends in a climax to tease the audience

Structure:Opening-Establishing the setting and revealing the characters

Build-up-Characters relationships established

Problem-Certain obstacle is shown for the characters to overcome in the film

The structure of a film trailer is important as you want to keep the audience guessing about what is going to happen although the end is always kept from the audience.The end is kept a mystery because then the audience will want to watch the film which will result it being successful.

Voiceover:

-The voiceover has a number of functions in a trailer

-A voiceover helps the audience member make sense of the narrative by giving us extra information such as characters names and occupations, where the film is set etc

-Helps the audience know when the film may come out

-Sets the atmosphere for a film... horror; deep, male, low voice, dramatic.

-Voiceover summarises the story
