This is an animation so it is totally opposite to what we are planning on doing. But I think it is a great trailer and good way to incorporate different ideas from different genres. In the beginning it shows all the characters (except for buzzlightning) where the main toy is supervising all the other toys to come up with the title, in a ‘group effort’ way. Then in the end buzzlighting shows up with his high-tech title which upsets Woody. This gives away the fact that there is still rivalry within the group, friendly rivalry that is. Contrast and differences is very enticing for audiences to watch. Again there is no voice over, instead just the different characters (toys) talking and sounds that they make. The release date is shown in this teaser is unusual in most cases. No credits are given throughout the trailer.

Considering that this was the trailer, it was longer and had a lot more detail to it, in terms of the storyline and more informative shots. The first thing that I noticed about the trailer was that the lighting was inconsistent throughout, in order to show the difference between past and present time. There were also quite a few intimate shots of the main characters (Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet) in contrast to the other dramatic shots, such as people drowning or falling from one end of the Titanic to the other, bumping the heads along the way. But the most memorable shot for me was, the old couple cuddled in their single bed with waves of water below them, as if waiting to drown in each other arms. And that's what I think every romantic drama should have, that one shot that really stands out.

The sex and the City teaser trailer is much shorter compared to most that I have analysed. Music starts off the trailer, although it is not too dominate over the voiceover which comes in a few seconds later. The music has more of a voice than instrumental which gives indication that they want the audience to listen to what the song means rather than jus having any song in the background. I think we could use this in our production, because like ‘Sex and the City’, ours is a romantic drama. The shots at the beginning of the trailer are of the different views over the New York skyline at night-time, which is amazing and almost gives this romantic and beautiful feel to the trailer and the film as a whole. The voiceover in this teaser trailer is done by the main character in the film Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), her voice is soft as it is throughout the film. Although the teaser trailer has more shots of the main character is also shows that domination in the film is shared between all four characters. The different shots also show the high end, New York fashion which would easily attract females audiences of all ages to this trailer. Unlike most this teaser trailer has a vague release date, only informing audiences of the month and the year.

The trailer starts off as though there is bad television signal coming through and throughout the teaser, which is very different and original. It has all the action packed shots incorporated into it, such as cars and building blowing up, machines and people shooting at each other, people running away from fires and explosions etc. John Conor’s (main character played by Christian Bale) voice is narrating throughout the trailer, telling the story of how he intends to end this ongoing war between the people and the machines. His voice is very deep and horsed throughout his narration, which is powerful as it gives audience the impression that he has been through a lot and seen things unspeakable. I think in this particular trailer it is good that they used the characters voice instead of ‘voice over’ which every audience is familiar with. The credits were given at the end of the teaser trailer. ‘Summer 2009’ was release date information that was given.

This teaser runs longer than most. It has no voiceover; the characters are sort of narrating the story along with a few words popping up in between. This is a romantic drama following the lives of those who are passionate, with that said there are numerous shots that highlight the different techniques in dancing. But the love story and understanding between the main characters immediately catches the viewer’s eye. This teaser mainly highlights the couples intimate moments, with contrast of different races, one being black and the other white, which on its own was controversial, given the time and setting of the film. I would use these aspects when creating our trailer, especially the various shots of the intimate moments. This had a release date as well.

Runs as long as a normal teaser. The start of the trailer shows the beginning of the film and ten breaks up into loads of shots from the film. Many of the shots are fast, with punch lines and comedic things happening. This has no voice over the characters voices from scenes and music dominate the trailer. The trailer to show the trouble the boys get into whilst in Vegas for a bachelor party, and how they fail to remember what happened the night before. The release date is given at the end which is unusual for a teaser trailer.

‘The Time Traveller's Wife’ teaser trailer is different from most that I have analysed in the sense that it has a mixture of the two characters voices and the official voiceover. I think this is good because it gives two, if not three views of the film. This means that the characters are able to inform audiences about the way they feel and what they are feeling from a personal point of view, whereas the official voice-over is giving general and key elements about what the film could be about. Seeing as in this is a romantic drama (our production genre) there were a lot of intimate shots that dominate the teaser trailer, of the couple meeting for the first time, a few years later when they fall in love and how his destiny is in the way of them continuing their lives together as a happily married as they want. The shots are short and quick but they somehow inform audiences all the ‘pulling information’ needed to attract as many, I guess the title of the film and success of the book, has helped make this trailer much easier to make and edit, because they could be dealing with an audience who are familiar with the book. The lighting in this trailer is bright and colourful, showing audiences a ‘picture-perfect’ image to the film.

This is one of the best trailers I have seen this far. There are a lot of really

good shots. But what I like most, is the structure of the teaser trailer in that Nicole Kidman is narrating the story

through, whilst telling it to a little girl. It makes the trailer more exciting and

enticing to watch. Therefore there is no voice over. The sound throughout the trailer is either that of Nicole Kidman, or instrumental music, except for the

ending where both the main characters say a line, which in a way concludes

the story with minimal detail. There is no release date for this teaser trailer, although credits are shown in the end.

Runs for just over a minute. The picture quality is grey, which illustrates a cold and dark place, which is pretty much what the film is like. The background music is also quite dominate throughout the trailer, there is a soft melody, as though a piano is playing when the characters are talking to each other face to face, and then there is more of a bass and bang when something sudden happens, almost scary. This teaser had no voice over instead the characters spoke throughout the trailer. This had more shots than the previous teasers simply because has more of action and drama compared to the others, with a lot of close-ups and action packed shots. Again, in the end a specific date of release was given.

The teaser shows the beginning of the film in more depth than most, then something dramatic happens and it ends. This is clever as it leaves viewers wanting more. This again had no voice over instead it was the characters, with the main character, Bella, doing most of the talking.

Romantic Comedy/Drama. Star studded cast. Longer scenes than a normal teaser trailer would have, with a lot of punch lines in between, indicating that it is Unlike most, this teaser trailer does not have a voice over; instead the characters lines in each scene shape the film and what it’s going to be about. Run time is as usual, but it didn’t finish with ‘coming soon’ instead it gave the month and the year. Overall; very informative for a teaser trailer. I would use most of these as this is similar to our genre.

This runs longer than a normal teaser trailer. The cast is famous for their slapstick comedy in teen moves such as American pie, Hangover and even series such as the Gilmore girls. Familiar cast members make it easier for the viewer to be intrigued. Longer shots in the beginning, then it continues to build up towards the end, having shorter and more shots with more punch lines as it moves along. The date of release was given in the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Fame teaser trailer, simply because it concentrated of specific, for example giving two or three shots a longer running time than usual. The beginning of the trailer easily draws the audiences attention because we have one long shot of a girl playing on the piano, whilst singing along. This would make the audiences listen to the words more than the actual melody if the song, which is very effective as the song itself, gives the audience a general idea of what the actual film is about. The hard beat to the song then drops and all these different angled shots come in of ballet dancers, hip hop dancers and even singers. The shot transitions change as the different beats in the songs drop, which is very effective and commonly done in most musicals and dance movies.

The ‘500 Days of Summer’ teaser trailer has different ranges of shots that are very effective, many of these effective shots are long and informative. The teaser sound is dominated by the voiceover who seems to be narrating what is happening on screen. For example, when the voice over say ‘500 days of distance’, the shot is of the woman pulling away from the man. I think we could use this technique for our production as it has a big effect on the audiences watching. The other thing that I enjoyed most about the trailer is the way the voiceover kept referring back to the film title, and what the film is actually about. I think the voiceover in this teaser trailer is very important and is well used which is something our production group can relate to. The ranges of shots also prove to be very effective as majority of the shots are of the lead male character beaming after his love interest. This gives audiences, especially woman, a warm feeling and understanding of ‘first loves’.

I think this is one of the best trailers I have watched, simply because it has only one scene, no voice over, and a few slide heading in the end and one man on screen. This is so different from any other trailer I have seen but yet it is the most enticing, interesting and doesn’t need famous faces on to sell to the audience. The colour contrast in this trailer is also something that our production group could learn from because the different shades of blue , grey and white dominate the screen. The grey is very effective because it gives the audience a feel of heavy storm or something bad is about to happen or even currently happening. The man on screen gave a lot off to the audience, as in the beginning he was rushing to the top to warn people by ringing the bell and his facial expression showed shock and fear, as what the whole world would feel if it was claimed it would come to an end. As a teaser trailer should be, there is no release date just credits and websites to blog.
